  1. My take on this is that Pearson doesn’t trust the players he’s got to play out from the back.
  2. What like the City trying to defend a one goal lead.
  3. To come back twice shows character. Good point.
  4. Two poor sides separated by one piece of quality.
  5. Berlin Gas, as he liked to be called in private.
  6. FWIW I think the likes of Towler and Bell will learn and progress far more playing men’s football in the conference than they would playing against Cat 1 youth teams.
  7. Some lovely footage of the gasworks in the background.
  8. Agreed. My aspirations for this season were a 14th-18th finish whilst avoiding getting dragged into a relegation dogfight. So far, so good.
  9. There’s none so blind as those who refuse to see.
  10. I learnt it from my time in Scotland. Still very much in common use. Trying to think what the Bristolian equivalent would be. Disappear as quickly as a rat up a drain pipe, perhaps.
  11. There’s a huge difference between a squad player and a manager, who is the main man at a club. The sponsors of any club that tries to sign Joey, if he’s done for wife beating, will disappear quicker than snow off a dyke and make any potential appointment untenable.
  12. I have the sense that even if he’s found guilty, provided he’s not imprisoned, Wally will prevaricate over dismissing Barton. The Domestic Abuse case is the real problem for Joey. Found guilty there and he’ll never work in Football, or for Bristol Rovers, again.
  13. The only good thing you can say about that half is that it’s only 1-0.
  14. Possibly even lower, it was 44 points last season. The other point to bear in mind is if we do get to the 28-30 point mark at half way, it takes a lot of the pressure of the club to do short term business in January that we might feel obliged to do if we are only just above the relegation zone.
  15. For me a luxury player is one that comes into a successful team that is capable of grinding out 1-0 wins and adds a bit of stardust. Charlie George and the Arsenal double winning team of 1971 springs to mind. I agree that the concept of luxury players is outdated in. Modern football when 100% commitment is needed across the board .
  16. Yes. Jury sworn in and then sent home. Trial proper starts on Monday.
  17. Fair enough. The important point is the games available to the OP who I believe is based overseas.
  18. Games defo not on Sky. They’re showing Livingston v Rangers. Robins TV selling day passes for the game.
