  1. On Thursday I renewed my ST but moved to a seat in W16 at more than a £100 dearer. On Friday, our very ill dog want to the vets at didn't return home. So on Saturday I went to Ashton Gate hoping for some entertainment to cheer me up with some goals for us and a clean sheet. I saw sideways and backward football, misplaced passes a plenty, a minimal number of shots on the Peterboro' goal (were there any except our goal?). One team that passed the ball well and worked hard and another that looked like the shambles of a year ago.
  2. It's owned, companywise, by a separate company within Bristol City FC in order that if the football club goes bust, there is still a stadium for any recovery. Done by Des Williams around 1984 after the 1982 shambles.
  3. I've said elsewhere that if we intend to sell, I believe letting Massengo go will prove best for the team, even if we'd probably get less than Scott and Semenyo.
  4. Money is essential to grow a club. But without a solid base of support, it is extremely difficult to move much higher up the football leagues than the current status. Brighton have the south coast and Palace, Chelsea and Fulham, have the nearest London well looked after. PS.I know some will mention Bournemouth but while they only have a small stadium, the catchment area of Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch is well over 350,000 to help grow the attendances if they increased stadium capacity.
  5. If Everton are relegated, they will do what they did the last time they were in 1952 or 1953, before most of you were born or even a twinkle in your Dad and Mums eyes. Go straight back up again.
  6. No match at this level is easy!
  7. Tanner was a striker when he started at Man U and has been converted to right back on his journey from MU via Carlisle. NP likes players with speed and so that could be a reason for him to see what Sam Bell could do there. It didn't go too well for Sam but will add to his experience and I wouldn't be surprised to see him there again in the future.
  8. Forget the curse. Second from Sitrom is accurate plus the wind speed toward our goal. The result is important but even more so is the experience gained by the really young ones. Should Morton be a bench candidate for rest of the season?
  9. Is there any tax benefit to the club or player if a lump sum is paid immediately instead of weekly/monthly pay. May reduce our total payment? Every saving will help us.
  10. The changes since Pearson arrived are considerable. When Brian Clough went to a struggling Forest, he brought in the essential to every team; a new spine that held everything together. Due to the terrible financial management of the JL/MA era, it is taking much longer to do the same here. So, we've had to patch the squad on cheap signings and raw Academy boys. Our ability to concede last minute goals has seriously hindered the points won. Yet another defeat yesterday but one with a big difference. Against a team awash with premier standard, and parachute millions, we were still in with a possibility of a draw in the last two or three minutes. We also have learned how to score goals. The bleak days of endless matches with one or none shots on target are gone. Two yesterday against second in the table. Fifth highest Goals For in the Championship! Sort the defending in this summer and start having clean sheets at home and AWAY, and our "Nul Points" record will alter to more consistent home wins and away draws with some juicy wins thrown in. This year has been somewhat disappointing but so much has been achieved. I see a brighter future.
  11. NP made it very clear in pre match interview that he expected nowt from this one. That tells me that he has wound up the troops by relaxing them. A well earned draw for me.
  12. Ticket Office told me today that renewal of season tickets will commence in a week or two.
  13. Here is my sixpenneth on LJ. I shuddered with total disappointment when he was appointed Head Coach. And I was proved correct. A few highlights but mostly dismal tactics, measuring the height of grass, narrowing the pitch and dull boring football. I know it's easy to be smart after the event but I had the same feelings with the arrivals of Pulis, Tinnion, Lumsden and Osman.
  14. Sorry but nothing personal toward Andreas, but I hope he has a stinker and ends up on the losing side. We don't want to lose him for a month next season and I want Wales to qualify! Entschuldigung Herr Weimann.
  15. @firstdivision Lies, damn lies and statistics! Ignoring the tail end of last season when Pearson took over a sinking ship and kept us up, where is any part of this seasons results within a country mile of LJ's super record of 11, yes ELEVEN, points from 72 available? Yes we have squandered too many by conceding in the last five minutes of matches, especially at home, but in the opinion of many supporters, we are at lest now trying to play as a team and to actually attack the oppostion goal a helluve lot more than your little hero did!
  16. We have seen his best and it isn't good enough!
  17. I heartily agree with the "richness and depth" comment. However the costs of travel are not insignificant at that level. Add in hotels when a Torquay or Crawley have an away match ar Carlisle or Hartlepool. Or if those teams travel on the day, it diminishes the competitiveness of the game as even very fit, young men become over tired sitting in a coach on a six hour journey. Thus I would make L2 regional.
  18. Appalling if they get any reduction or extended payments when last owner could pay this, probably without noticing the reduction in his fortune.
