  1. Sounds like teenage muscles not being up to coping with ninety minutes of Championship football every week. He will overcome this problem sooner rather than later!
  2. Well said @billywedlock we have as settled a side that we've had for a couple of years, to begin playing as a team. Working hard for each other and with a spirit that has been missing. Well done the "Whole Team". I am encouraged by this and with a bit more confidence in all the squad, we can be looking upward with confidence instead of looking over our shoulders.
  3. Conveniently forgetting the game after Pompey when Notts County had an easy win at Ashton Gate against a completely inebriated City squad! @PHILINFRANCE
  4. Reference claims a day ago that it would take two weeks to get a Covid Pass. This morning, I downloaded the NHS App, completed all the data it requred and got my Pass within half an hour of starting.
  5. Frankly as a player Savage senior was a dirty sod who did his best to stop opponents playing. Best example I saw at City was a waist high lunge with all studs showing on a City player while he was at Birmingham City. Nasty piece of sxxt who had total disregard for his fellow pros!
  6. Classic on on Points West this evening by Alex Lovell. She said "The latest Covid rates for our areal...." An added L! Bristol dialect is not dead.
  7. More likely to be in our coffins or ashes container!
  8. He is last man defender. Ball was hit by Derby a fair bit higher than usual and my view was that it was being blown or spinning and changing directions as it came down. Not the best defensive header but heading it out for a throw in was definitely better than giving it to the four Derby players.
  9. It's interesting that the Morrison shot was a direct result of the only clear mistake in the match by Scott who cleared from the goal line in penalty area straight to Morrison. Not criticizing Scott but shows how one mistake could have sent us home crying. Well some would have!
  10. Apart from dealing with the financial and contractual side of the football club, what else does a CEO now have to do at City? Ticket sales, Catering, Stadium and pitch maintenence are covered by Bristol Sport. A Director of Football seems to be our priority. Could this be Pearson in a year or so after he has reshaped us off and on the field? @billywedlock
  11. Alex Scott is showing a maturity beyond his years. He scored the winner, he battled all the time but my abiding memory is when he took the ball off a Derby player near the touchline close to the Dolman/South corner in injury time. And then bought a free kick by stopping with the Derby player right up his back. Result? Free kick which used up at least a minute before Bentley took it. These younger players are leading the older ones by example to safety!
  12. I sit directly behind the South Stand goal so get a good view of his accuracy. It's quite good with most aimed at Martin. The problem is that Martin wins the glancing header but the ball goes to a defender and we're then defending the next attack. A never ending cycle. We need to play shorter passes to back three or midfield and keep the ball for longer periods.
  13. I have wondered how many are will arrive in January and if they are already agreed. I also suspect not more than three in with maybe two leaving us. At the moment our good spells during games are too short to control the outcome of the match. And while our current practice of long clearances from goalkeeper almost always result in another spell of defending, we cannot control the way the match goes. @billywedlock
  14. I got to the Winterstoke entrance about 14.10 and overheard a senior steward telling those with the wands, "only check one in three". That's how a flare got in.
  15. All this anti vaccine on the internet. In the early years of the 19the century, the average lifespan in Britain was around 35 to 45 years. Industrial diseases and things like smallpox and polio meant an early death for many. Come from then until mid 20th century with vaccines for those diseases and others like measles, whooping cough, scarlet fever has meant that in the developed countries, we are now living longer until eighties to nineties. Mostly due to vaccines. What if our parents and grandparents had decided against vaccines? Many of us would never have been born let alone living ten and twenty years longer! The risks of vaccines are small compared to the dangerous diseases that take too many lives. The lunatic fringe who are filling the net with scares are not doing any of us a favour. A life for all animals, vegetation etc. is not a rehearsal for another go at it.
  16. I suspect that games are being suspended because of two factors. To gain full access to the patient it is necessary to move those in the immediate area away. Where do these people go? Standing in the view of others? A delay in a football match is a small price to pay if the immediate attendance of the medical staff results in saving a life. I have always considered that the two best places to have a stroke or heart attack are the door to the BRI or a football league match.
  17. Yet Brewster committed four or five fouls in the first ten minutes and no yellow card!
  18. Midfield is terrible. No bite, no decent passes to forwards and no contribution to the defence. Bring Atkinson on, move Vyner to central midfield to try and stem the tide.
  19. It doesn't need to be a full replica shirt. A T-shirt would be great as a start up to age ten to sew the seeds for their adulthood.
  20. It is very sad that many find it very difficult to open up about their inner thoughts. We lost a true sportsman and husband, father. Diolch yn fawr Gary.
  21. I have never "Been a fan" of Callum simply due to his head down, turn back towards his own goal, style of play. But I did understand that a lot of that was due to the managerial instructions of "keep the ball even if it means going from opposition penalty box to our goalkeeper". I suspect that Pearson's philosophy is do one's best to keep possession, but also that if you can leave a defender standing and have the possibility of creating goal scoring opportunities, then do so. It's then where "Team Play" comes into the equation, with such as Williams, James, and King covering for the time when he doesn't get past the defender and nobody is in position to cover. It's called team play and team spirit which we have not had for the last two or three years but the signs are now beginning to look much better. Hence we should see more of Callum as a flying wing (back).
  22. Luxury players? They used to be, a long time ago, someone who did unexpected things that win games. We don't have any such players. What we have are a couple or three who believe that they are so good that they must play but not be a member of the team. Possibly they blame all the rest for not setting up chances and are not prepared to work hard enough for the team. The quicker thay are dispensed with, the better. The Atyeo's, Galleys, Gow's, Tainton's, Ritchie's, Sweeney's and so on, worked so hard for their colleagues even if they were the cream of the squad.
  23. I would think that the ref thought it was each one holding and pushing the other, So how could it be given as a foul to either team? Six of one and half a dozen of the other.
  24. Stoke played in one of the dullest kits you are likely to see and their performance matched it. With the possession they had, we should have been well beaten but this team has found a new strength. We still make too many mistakes, can't keep the ball for lengthy spells but there is a spirit in the play now. COYREDS!
