  1. Plenty of parking space at Luton airport! Don't forget to duck when you go along the little alley from road to turnstiles!
  2. Wait until you've wasted all your money and spare time for more than seventy years! Enjoy your Christmas. That is until 17.00 on Boxing Day.
  3. He was born in Bristol and lived in a house or flat on Gloucester Road at it's junction with Ashley Road. I knew and grew up with several children with black fathers, US soldiers and airmen. I never took any notice of their skin colour; they were just friends and acquaintances.
  4. Getting a successful football club isn't any different to any other business. Leaders are required at all levels and that is something that our football club has not had since Cotts and players like Wade Elliott and Wilbraham were here. Not one of our back three or back five give me any indication of leadership. Start there, and also get a dominating keeper, central midfield and striker. NP has a hell of a job to turn us into a "team" !
  5. He was a friend of mine when I was about 15 or 16. We used to organize games on Horfield Common ( coats for goals) His mates in Horfield against mine from Filton. I was so pleased when he signed for City.
  6. What is a bully? Many definitions in a dictionary. I cannot believe that Nigel Pearson, a football manager who has the whole spectrum of personnel under his management will be a bully, physically or verbally. There will certainly be very straight to the point conversations with players. And also plenty of arm round the shoulder. A vindictive manager will not last anywhere very long because even those who are not involved will not appreciate that type of mismanagement.
  7. Alec Briggs died quite a long time ago. So I believe but cannot find any date of death on Wikipedia. According to this he is still alive aged 82.
  8. Apart from Gordon Parr, John Watkins and Bobby Williams, I cannot think of any other who goes back to 1950's than Jantzen. Anyone know different.
  9. The club are able to calculate the actual attendance via the turnstile scanners. However, because of VAT, HMRC and probably police, they also know how many bought match day tickets and the total number of season tickets. This is the announced attendance figure as whether a paid for ticket is used or not is irrelevant. I imagine that policing and stewarding numbers are based on anticipated attendance.
  10. We are too narrow in all departments. Return to a back four now and stop allowing opponents to open us at will via the wings. The rest can be any formation you want. 4-2 / 5-1 / 3-3
  11. Is that an attempt to excuse their behaviour? Pathetic morons who should never set foot in Ashton Gate again.
  12. In general, the very successful managers at club level are not the best at getting trophies, titles and promotions. They are the personnel managers, who are able to provide a shoulder to cry on for some and a kick up the ass for others. They rely on the coaches to instill into the players, the tactics, style of playing etc. And those managers who hurl individual players under the proverbial bus, are doomed after the first time.
  13. The appointment of McKenna is a mirror version of the way Holden was appointed here. Which leads me to wonder if MA, who is a really clever sod in his own mind, and knowing what affinity SL had with the Johnson family, had a much bigger influence on LJ getting the City job than we have ever realised. And even how much he had to do with the demise of Cotterill?
  14. City Women beat Palace on penalties tonight.
  15. One of my memories is while City manager in 1990, he went with the Scotland team to World Cup 90 as Liaison Officer, because he speaks fluent Italian. In the San Siro the Scots players introduced themselves followed by polite applause from the crowd. When it was Joe's turn he said "Mi chiamo Joe Jordan" and the place erupted in respect for an AC Milan legend.
  16. Don't do it Mr McInnes. It didn't work out for you at BCFC but you have too much honesty and dignity to work under such a scheister as MA!
  17. Could it be that Baker will be out due to head injury?
  18. I believe that it is essential for us in January to move a couple on and bring in two or three. I say this because I consider that we are not as safe as some on here would have us believe. Yes we are picking up points at present at a rate to stay out the dogfight but we are still suffering from long term injuries to some squad members. Joe Williams is still out and we then only have two experienced midfielders who have just had six weeks out of action. And only one central striker who should probably only be playing 3 out of five games. I'm trying to be positive but one or two long injuries after January could be disastrous. So a couple more reliable bodies will help.
  19. I believe that it will be a very big IF for us to spend that amount in January. I just have a feeling that we'll have a couple in and one or two out. In could be similar to Tanner's level of ability and price and out will include Kasey Palmer plus one? If Cundy and Conway get back to full fitness, that would add another two to the squad. A fully fit Joe Williams would be worth two new coming in.
  20. If £2 million is available, I would expect the major amount circa £1.2m on a striker and the balance on two others, midfield and left back.
  21. Middlesbrough by a country mile followed closely by Luton.
  22. It's probably not the loss on what we spent two years ago that will be a problem. That is history. More importantly, it is the wage saving that will allow us to bring in a couple or three promising 22/24 year olds with total wages less than Palmer. With an added benefit that all newcomers will be putting everything into building a career rather than like, KP already a millionaire on Chelsea pay levels, before he came here!
