Huddersfield Town at home match day thread
cidered abroad replied to Jerseybean's topic in Football Chat
Is that an attempt to excuse their behaviour? Pathetic morons who should never set foot in Ashton Gate again. -
In general, the very successful managers at club level are not the best at getting trophies, titles and promotions. They are the personnel managers, who are able to provide a shoulder to cry on for some and a kick up the ass for others. They rely on the coaches to instill into the players, the tactics, style of playing etc. And those managers who hurl individual players under the proverbial bus, are doomed after the first time.

The appointment of McKenna is a mirror version of the way Holden was appointed here. Which leads me to wonder if MA, who is a really clever sod in his own mind, and knowing what affinity SL had with the Johnson family, had a much bigger influence on LJ getting the City job than we have ever realised. And even how much he had to do with the demise of Cotterill? -

Bristol City Women - WSL / W Championship

City Women beat Palace on penalties tonight. -
One of my memories is while City manager in 1990, he went with the Scotland team to World Cup 90 as Liaison Officer, because he speaks fluent Italian. In the San Siro the Scots players introduced themselves followed by polite applause from the crowd. When it was Joe's turn he said "Mi chiamo Joe Jordan" and the place erupted in respect for an AC Milan legend.

Don't do it Mr McInnes. It didn't work out for you at BCFC but you have too much honesty and dignity to work under such a scheister as MA! -
Could it be that Baker will be out due to head injury?

Do not sign anyone in January - 3 year Plan.
cidered abroad replied to Waconda's topic in Football Chat
I believe that it is essential for us in January to move a couple on and bring in two or three. I say this because I consider that we are not as safe as some on here would have us believe. Yes we are picking up points at present at a rate to stay out the dogfight but we are still suffering from long term injuries to some squad members. Joe Williams is still out and we then only have two experienced midfielders who have just had six weeks out of action. And only one central striker who should probably only be playing 3 out of five games. I'm trying to be positive but one or two long injuries after January could be disastrous. So a couple more reliable bodies will help. -
I believe that it will be a very big IF for us to spend that amount in January. I just have a feeling that we'll have a couple in and one or two out. In could be similar to Tanner's level of ability and price and out will include Kasey Palmer plus one? If Cundy and Conway get back to full fitness, that would add another two to the squad. A fully fit Joe Williams would be worth two new coming in.
-
If £2 million is available, I would expect the major amount circa £1.2m on a striker and the balance on two others, midfield and left back.

Middlesbrough by a country mile followed closely by Luton.

They cannot afford them!

It's probably not the loss on what we spent two years ago that will be a problem. That is history. More importantly, it is the wage saving that will allow us to bring in a couple or three promising 22/24 year olds with total wages less than Palmer. With an added benefit that all newcomers will be putting everything into building a career rather than like, KP already a millionaire on Chelsea pay levels, before he came here!

Sounds like teenage muscles not being up to coping with ninety minutes of Championship football every week. He will overcome this problem sooner rather than later! -

Well said @billywedlock we have as settled a side that we've had for a couple of years, to begin playing as a team. Working hard for each other and with a spirit that has been missing. Well done the "Whole Team". I am encouraged by this and with a bit more confidence in all the squad, we can be looking upward with confidence instead of looking over our shoulders. -
Conveniently forgetting the game after Pompey when Notts County had an easy win at Ashton Gate against a completely inebriated City squad! @PHILINFRANCE

Reference claims a day ago that it would take two weeks to get a Covid Pass. This morning, I downloaded the NHS App, completed all the data it requred and got my Pass within half an hour of starting.

Frankly as a player Savage senior was a dirty sod who did his best to stop opponents playing. Best example I saw at City was a waist high lunge with all studs showing on a City player while he was at Birmingham City. Nasty piece of sxxt who had total disregard for his fellow pros!

Classic on on Points West this evening by Alex Lovell. She said "The latest Covid rates for our areal...." An added L! Bristol dialect is not dead.

Now James is fit can we get rid of Bakinson
cidered abroad replied to Better Red's topic in Football Chat
He is last man defender. Ball was hit by Derby a fair bit higher than usual and my view was that it was being blown or spinning and changing directions as it came down. Not the best defensive header but heading it out for a throw in was definitely better than giving it to the four Derby players. -

Apart from dealing with the financial and contractual side of the football club, what else does a CEO now have to do at City? Ticket sales, Catering, Stadium and pitch maintenence are covered by Bristol Sport. A Director of Football seems to be our priority. Could this be Pearson in a year or so after he has reshaped us off and on the field? @billywedlock
