It was always this way until we got a bit dodgy in 2001. You are struggling not to get into a relegation spot in the Championship, and we are struggling to get into a promotion slot in League 1. Well, we took 3,000 to Birmingham when we played them last. And the attendance against Crawley was admittedly very poor, But the first two rounds of the FA Cup are not what they used to be. Coventry had just 2,000. In fact the whole FA Cup is not what it used to be.

Hello. We had a shocker today. But playing with 10 men it's never easy to avoid defeat. It's so long since we had a genuine hammering that I'm in group therapy. But it's coffee break time, so I have just popped in. Popping out now. Bad day. These things happen. Still 5th though.

Have variable fortunes in Football League for years. Play in a shoddy old groud. Lose shoddy old ground. Play in exile for years. Return to home town in unsuitable stadium. Crowds decline to 5,000. Club falls to lowest ever level. Wait years to build new ground. Planners and nimbys stall everything. New owners turn everything around. Rise back to League 1. Win promotion from League 1 New stadium built. Crowds flock in. Great success in the Championship. Beat Bristol City 2-0 at Ashton Gate. This is how I see our past and future. Unliklely, I know. How could that possibly happen? Hang on.

I think some of you want us back up there with you more than we do. Really. We've had such a terrible last 16 years, apart from the brief promotion under Trollope, until DC turned it around, that we haven't really been able to think about catching you up. It was crisis management under the old regime, and when we fell into the Conference, many wondered if a bad first season could lead to us doing a Southport. Carching up with you was very low on the radar of the average Gashead. We just needed to survive and rebuild. We seem to have done that now, and the old depression has been replaced by positive thoughts.

Two seasons of unparalleled success though. More to come, I think. I'm alone on here these days. And I'm tired now. Goodnight Teds.
