I’m not sure it’s the case that we should be playing better sides.

Many LM supporters would say that our better performances have come against the better sides we’ve played this season and that’s probably true.

The real challenge has been the teams inability to create chances against the supposedly poorer sides who are happy to sit in against us.

So maybe it’s those sorts of sides we should be facing in preseason 🤔

The problem is picking the right sides. Top end of League 1 is the nearest we'll get in terms of opposition being good enough to sit in and give us a challenge (Oxford maybe............).

  2. If you want decent opposition that might be happy to play us and is realistic to the style of play we will encounter in the Championship then get up to Scotland and play against Rangers and Celtic.........

We will obviously have the usual Newport, Cheltenham, Swindon and Exeter fixtures with Aldershot sprinkled in. If people want a Prem team at the Gate the pond we would be fishing in would include Luton, Palace, Forest and Bournemouth. The problem with playing Prem teams is they all want you to cover their expenses for the "privilege" of playing them (which probably won't be covered by 7K watching us play Luton).

You can tell this thread is old - it’s Lezs 75th user ID ago (“Targeted By Mods”)

However, in the spirit of revisiting here’s what I put…

….I think on broad terms that still meets the definition of not meeting the targets

The last point on ST sales is still the most interesting one. If ST sales meet club expectations (which have to be less than this season given what has transpired) he will be given time next season. If they fall considerably short i.e. 2-3K then I think his time shrinks too. This time next week we will know where we stand on that.

MINIMUM 59 Points (same as last season) You would like to think we will go from 57 to at least 59 in the last three matches......

Two wins MINIMUM out of Huddersfield, Blackburn and Rotherham Beat Rotherham and that's ticked off......

A MINIMUM of five of our remaining nine games where people come away generally having enjoyed the football on offer Leicester, Plymouth and Blackburn count, West Brom doesn't, Sunderland and Huddersfield depends on whether you accept a poor performance with some kind of result.......

13K MINIMUM Season Tickets Sold (otherwise it's clear too many fans aren't on board with him) I don't think we will hit 13K personally but you could reasonably argue that is more to do with the hierarchy now than Manning.

Anything less than the above and I think it's fair to fire him. Anything unfair in the above?

Thought I would revisit this and it looks like Liam has at least got close on the targets I would have set him......

im only guessing N/O , no truth in my comment whatsoever that i know of but it wouldnt surprise me now we are taking the amateur route

I did use the word IF on the basis that if you are going to feed information out to certain fans to try and convey a club agenda I'm not sure the person concerned would be the greatest choice. The way he comes across to me in publically available media I think you would struggle to rely on him to always withhold sensitive information. This is the most basic reason you just do not go down that route and if this has happened (and I mean with any fan who has a media or social media presence not just a particular one) I would 100% stand by my comment that a Director of the club couldn't possibly continue in post in an organisation that genuinely wants to run things professionally.

I think you’ll find my shouting at AG is a bit more “base” than my musings on OTIB! 🤣🤣🤣

It was more along the lines of “Oi Manning, get your effing hands out of your pockets, and effing change something” (Swansea home when their keeper was stood on the ball for 5 mins without any press)

I'm guessing Liam shouted back there was no need to be so cross with him, moderate your behaviours and take a bit of the emotion out of it..............

The moment they sacked the popular saloon manager and appointed a novice barman in his place the last chance saloon lost it's charm and rapidly begun to empty with people contemplating other forms of 'entertainment'.

Many fans will have already decided they are not coming back for another session in a saloon with no atmosphere and where the beer's gone right off.

I still think it'll be in the thousands.

This time next week one of us will be right. No gloating though!!! It will be interesting to see the drop off, that's for sure.

Maybe they look routine because his positioning is good in the first place and doesn't make camera saves like previous keepers

It wasn't me who made that comment hence the immature bit in brackets. I said all along he was better "for us" than Bentley but got shouted down on numerous occasions.

Killing time in the airport this morning saw the annual list of this was out. Dewsbury-Hall number one, but there was one City player in the list - Step forward Max O’Leary, who has come in at number 40 based on votes from other clubs.

Not only that but the only Goalkeeper in the list. For someone who makes routine saves every week that are over egged by all and sundry on here (I'm being extremely immature I know........) that's some achievement.

I’d imagine the fact they’re publicising it would mean they’re happy.

Last year there were plenty of things coming out with how many City season tickets sold, funnily enough not seen anything like that yet 🤔

I think the club know the score. They 100% do read this forum so they will be expecting a large purchase of ST's by this time next week because that's what many have said they will do. The danger is that Jon and the Geordie think that everything is then rosy in the garden and it's a vindication of how they have acted and how they can continue to act. It most certainly isn't and they will need to work very hard next season to get fans onside and prevent a far larger and damaging exodus occurring at that point. They are certainly in the last chance saloon with me, that's for sure.

at least hes not making it all up now,  tinnion might be but ian gay is only repeating what bt wants him to put out there, exactly as your point above shows👍

If this is actually true Brian Tinnion needs to look in the mirror and then resign immediately. You couldn't be more amateur if you tried and is certainly not included in the expected "behaviours" of the Technical Director of a Championship Football Club. The fact there also appears to be previous in terms of letting a select one or two on X know the amount we bid for Azaz could lead someone to believe the above is exactly what is happening.

Which almost makes it feel like the match is to satisfy LM rather than anyone else.

That's one of the things that concerns me. They should name it Russell Martin Syndrome - where a coach has a fixed idea of how to play football and when it's wrong it's still right and the only people who "don't get it" are the players that can't deliver it and the fans who pay to watch it.

Mugs. Punters. What do they know about football? Who have they played for (mind you that goes for our manager tbf!!)? What coaching qualifications do they have? Blah blah blah - you can guarantee that will be heard in Bristol Sport Towers.

The problem with that is when the mugs revolt and say "**** you, I'm not having that, my dough is staying in the old sky rocket"..........then the indulgence suddenly has to stop.

Too be fair, he could get away with that for the first 3 or 4 seasons?

Different scenario I guess. He had the capital due to a) having a very good recent record and b) taking over from an utter fraud.

Yes, he did get away with it for a while. As you say his record allowed that to happen. As with traits like that it became tedious at the end. Players notice it when things go a bit wrong.

I agree not for me not impressed with McCrorrie for what we paid i dont know what he offes not as good as Tanner at fullback and not quick enough to bomb down the wings .panic buy .

I think you’ll see a better player next season. Easy to underestimate what he’s been through.

Have you noticed though that if we play well it's down to the game plan and if we don't it's down to the players?

Whatever you think of him Gary Johnson was identical in that regard. Was always they and them when we were poor.

I think the first season ticket deadline is about 10 days off , the same seat renewals and then a move your seat day, a LOT of people will leave it late for two reasons, one is yes wavering , although for some it has become a social thing as well , but also leave it to the latest moment to send them a warning shot , a lot I have spoken to say they will give them one last chance to get it right but numbers will still be down a bit , but agree it would be right to hear from one/ some of them to I guess say at least ok we did not get it totally right but let’s push on and we appreciate you etc , at some stage we all have to go forward or we are really ******

Exactly where I am. Unfortunately the person I meet has decided Steve, Jon and Sid can stick their warning shot. Wouldn't go if they gave him a free season ticket...........mixture of health reasons and the appalling way the club is ran by appalling characters (which doesn't entice him to put his health issues to one side).

I honestly can’t remember such a half arsed, shambolic, amateur, unqualified bunch running the club before though.

Nail, head, the, squarely, on, hit. Certainly not since the days when we thought it was sensible to hand out 11 year contracts.......so being kind they are the worst for at least 40 years and by some distance too.

    Watched Bath City yesterday.

i left the game at half time.

The ball spent most of the time 40 feet in the air. Awful long ball football from Bath and Torquay

Can’t be good for a young players development surely???

Better than sitting on the bench for months on end with no hope of getting on. Luckily only one of those two players belongs to us.......................

  19. I won’t quote the post @The turtle but spot on. If football gets any more scientific it will simply go back to the 80’s i.e. **** all bums on seats. For many people there needs to be action on the pitch. People who enjoy a tactical 0-0 are very much in the minority and there certainly ain’t enough of ‘em to pay football’s way, that’s for sure. PowerPoint Binary Ball coaches will end up killing the game.

It has happened at least once before under Manning. On that occasion it was Tanner who at the time was getting flak on here for being ‘negative’.

The negative reaction yesterday may have been because we were losing at the time.

It was 0-0 when it happened. First half.
