I know its slightly off the time frame but seeing their 9:0 Spurs capitulation is like a fine wine. It gets better with age. They look more of a pub team every time it comes up.

To be fair, football specials (whilst part of the problems of the 70s and 80s) WOULD get more fans travelling.

The costs of using the rail network for national journeys is a blocker for a number of people.

But British Rail ran out of lightbulbs in the 80s andcan’t afford such a financial crisis again

Probably the Eastville rebuild after it burnt down.

That said, I think the fans raised money to put a roof over a terrace at the Mem.

They didn’t rebuild anything though as far as I recall - just had an enclosure down that side after IIRC  ?

i guess the scaletrix family mini hutch at Trunpton may be the only build in their history

    Ha ha even better!???

You will have to forgive me but my historical knowledge of one of the most insignificant football league/non league clubs in the history of the Football League is a little lacking.

Can someone inform me what was the last stand they actually built?

  6. A Gas ITKr reveals the complications regarding the original plans for a larger tent

‘ Originally the stand was meant to go along the full length of the flat area but the safety officer wasn't happy because although people serving in the pastie huts could get in to the huts there was little space left between the stand and hut for people to served safely. So stand had to be re-positioned over the open terrace. There was also meant to be a stand for away fans but they couldn't fit it into the area allocated ,so didn't bother with it in the end. Had to put a family stand in though because the S.T had already been sold. Basically a major cockup.’

    Meanwhile ....

‘ For a cup match against a big team, the stand can be dismantled and the capacity increased to what it was, the same could apply for a big league game if season ticket holders are willing to move to the South or Southwest stands to accommodate it. All other times the lost standing capacity won't be needed as its hardly as if we sell out the mem every week, there's not really any problem to be honest.’

  7. To be fair I Wonder if Steve had a whole host of major problems to overcome when planning the Lansdown Stand

A stand can’t be placed behind the terrace for the same reason as the family stand wasn’t able to as it would block access for people standing on the terrace therefore creating a health and safety risk, putting the stand on the terrace would only serve to lower capacity. The only conceivable way the away capacity can be improved is to extend the south stand all the way across the pitch and give the extra block to away fans. Even this may not be possible however as Wael said a year or two ago that the reason it hasn’t been extended is because their are cables, a screen and an advertising billboard in the way. Tom Gorring isn’t daft, he would have looked to increasing away capacity as a means of increasing revenue and the fact that as of yet nothing hasn’t been done suggests it isn’t possible.

Had to read it again as I couldn't believe it, 3 refurbished bars,  new shop and electronic turnstyles( they can be a bit scarey and put people off tho ) that is very impressive work, yet again most clubs are in awe of them, even Spurs fans !!!

Having seen you the t’other day Weepy I have to say you’ve aged better than the Mem , or , indeed Darrell the dog botherer !

  9. Going by his post match interview Clarke is going to go nose to nose with a few players in the next couple of weeks and be kicking them around the training ground

Big call , especially to announce to the media that you are going to

    S*** Or bust time

.....And normally results in the Manager getting his P45

An interesting few weeks ahead for the blue clowns

  10. Rovers have been sold to a consortium who have agreed to deliver UWE and the training ground. In return (and only after they have delivered the stadium and training ground), the mem will be sold for housing.
This will be announced in October. ‘

    (Shatchat)

    ( Allegedly a ‘ Isle Of Man / Liverpool based consortium’ )

  11. Anyway ......panic over ..... there’s news on the new tent .....sorry temporary new Stand

If this is true ........ (Posted on Sagshat)

    :laughcont: :laughcont: :laughcont:

The new stand arrived, however the rear of the stand clashed with the pastie hut and the entrance clashed with the toilets. In short it wasn’t measured up properly and was sent back. Needs amending now should be back in a few weeks.
