Yes. The Dolman (where E31 is) tends to be move exposed, especially to the Sun.  The Lansdown is better, mainly because it’s far more modern- though the Dolman is also a fine stand, with a modem concourse.

If you're 5ft 6 or smaller the leg room will be about right in the Dooman.

But when we had singers in the Atyeo, the complaint there was 'the acoustics are all wrong, we want the EastEnd', then it was 'we need to be able to stand', the afforded that. Then there was Block A of the Dolman, but that was a couple of games and then stopped.

If the singers need to be close to the away end (which everyone can hear) it suggests that the answer is simply that not enough people are that in to having a sing, and are happy enough voicing support at key moment, not in retaliation to anything the away fans might be doing.

I just think we have fans who aren't interested in signing or creating an atmosphere. Turn up, pint, see friends, watch the game which can be a bore fest, 10 minutes before HT go down for a pint, repeat.......

  3. Canadian mate of mine comes to the Gate quite often and said the atmosphere reminds him of a local yacht club back home. 🤣

I've been to FC København a few times and I don't think I've been to a louder stadium! It's loud but also quite intimidating, they have a good set of ultras.

I appreciate the factual part of your post, but I don't like the tone of the highlighted part.

It's not fair to suggest that the only buyers in the development will be "middle-class snoops", especially as there will be affordable housing as part of the development.

People from all walks of life will be looking to get a house there, including a few on this forum no doubt.

I'm looking to buy one! I was raised in Sneyd Park if that helps 😏

It seems ETM have gone all in with the hope that the potential added costs of delays, mean they stump up for the roof. I don't think he will.
ETM's objections are the same ones as were turned down before, chancers.

If it does go to JR I think AG and SL will just give up on it. ETM win. Bristol as a city will lose again, but I guess we're good at losing in this city.

A lot of my friends have been on 'mates rates' tickets, but they look at a match day cost and decide they would rather spend the money in the pub and watch a game, or stream games on their firestick.

They fully appreciate the live experience is better, but if you aren't in the habit of buying a ticket, it's a big ask for a lot of folk.

Sorry, I should have said what you covered in your post. They do enjoy the experience of the Gate but the game itself usually falls flat of expectations.

Some of the touches, passes and shots were absolutely awful

Drew the game 1-1, but lost on penalties in sudden death after Brooke Aspin dragged her penalty woefully wide of the target.

I really fear for our goal difference going to Man City this weekend

6 plus goals conceded, 1 or 2 shots on goal for us. The gap is massive! Yes it was nice winning promotion but not being in games for 3/4 of the season really isn't fun and gets boring real quick.

I thinks it's more to do with the fact that they don't want the houses there full stop because then they'd not be able to work outside of their permitted hours.

Bully boy tactics then. Rule and law breakers by the sound of it.

The club/developer and the Council have done everything 100% correctly including bending over backwards to appease ETM.

Whilst some people may think it is acceptable or expedient to bow to these opportunists, most right minded people will applaud the club/developers and Council for telling them to stuff it where the sun don't shine. That is the right and proper thing to do.

ETM still win if JR is granted, which will run on for ages and then AG will just pull the project.

I guess they're in a no lose situation.

  10. What are the views on here about this development going forward. I can't see it happening purely on the basis I have no confidence in our council or court system. Such a shame! Bristol basketball will be gone within 5 years. Most BBL sides will have their own arenas by then which generates extra revenue the flyers can't. Sheffield sharks predict their revenue will increase between 40-60% when they're in their new home. We're stuck with a school gym with no capacity.
