I see bottom 4 side Bristol Rovers are at home to fellow strugglers Rochdale next Saturday in an early season 6 pointer relegation battle. Not a game for the purist I would imagine.
I don't suppose you got that from the Bristol Post!

Think back to the early 60s. Didn't Rovers then have a publicly announced club POLICY of "No buy, no sell"?
Yes I've heard older sags talking about that. I believe they were relegated soon afterwards. Edit: According to wiki they abolished the policy in 1961 at the end of their only really successful period. THEN they were relegated. So it must have worked reasonably well surprisingly.

The poster stated that the photo was taken at half-time. I've never been in a ground where everybody remains in their seat at half-time, whatever the weather.
You do at that end. That or risk the black hole of the Stratton Bank.

Seems some City fans would prefer Swindon away than Villa at home according to their forum, as they couldn't work out how to queue for a sausage roll properly
We never go to Swindon now as it seems to bring out the morons for some reason. Last time we went several years ago, two so called Gas were fighting each other in the food queue. Why Swindon? I don't know maybe local derby and near. I never see this at home games, like some one else said this isn't the Gas family I know and I am proud of. More like the sheeds perhaps they are?
One of them also feels there should be no open ends at their level of football. Have they put a bit of tarpaulin over the away end at their hovel now then?
No fans should be stood/sat in "open ends" at this level of football!
I remember getting an absolute soaking (Phillips pen save?) but didn't feel the need to leave at half time and go to a launderette to dry off
Ha, ha. Their very own away section has a sunshine roof if I'm not mistaken.

Then stop quoting me, but you see it is a concern to me that so many lives are being lost to talking bullocks to another Football Club, who btw are no longer non league basement but are Bristol based, some of the hate fueled comments is very indicative of a mindset that is based on no other reasons other than a ridiculous 'tribal' near neighbour conflict that has long disappeared in a society that has evolved.
Clearly some are still struggling with evolution, this is one reason we won't see top flight football at AG for longer than some would like, it is counter productive negative and very childish, just the sort of attitudes SL is trying to counter.
However I don't expect many to stop and think , merely to carry on regardless, because that is the nature of the beast, it's difficult to actually change behaviour, but it might be a start if the Mods took away their toys..
Expressing opinions on a forum, perish the thought!

Time to move the thread into Classics now?
There have been some hilarious moments but they've reverted to being a normal football club again.
Comparing away attendances for cup games doesn't have the same laugh out loud factor as "I bin frew two divorces Geoff...".
A normal football club? You've shattered my illusions now. I thought they were special.

Why bother? We beat them relatively easily a couple of seasons ago, we have consistently been the best side for over a decade, we have nothing to prove and only a fan riot/ injuries/ suspensions to gain. If they are ever in the same league as us again the. We have something to prove and a genuine rivalry again. Until then they have a tent and a fake sheik...
Be fair, they are a two tent club now. Totally agree though, we just don't need the hassle. Even if we beat them soundly they 'd claim a moral victory.

I wonder if they will be celebrating a certain anniversary this year? Exactly 40 years since they last had a five figure average attendance. 10,022 in 1976!! No, thought not.

For me what is even more funnier is the fact we have knocked down a stand that was better than they are hoping to put up.
Two in fact. Perhaps we should have given them all the parts from the East End and Williams, they might have been able to cobble together something to keep the rain out.

269 pages and nearly 11,000 posts, so what do you guys think of the new kits..
Why are all kit launches at all clubs advertised with these ridiculous stiff poses. They look like they've making their way gingerly to the gents after a double strength vindaloo and a gallon of Bass.

With all this talk of transfer fees and tens of millions spunked up the wall, anyone would think there was a bigger gap than 24 places between the clubs.
But we are in the championship and you are in league 1 and there is a yawning chasm between the two. Believe us we know! Come back when you are anywhere near bridging that gap.

Weird saying that it will 'hopefully' increase their capacity reintroducing the South West Stand?? Either it will or it won't surely?
They're obviously going to see if the thing stays up before making a definite statement.
