So, are we bottom of the top half, or top of the bottom half?
I feel it is the latter myself. Not good enough to push towards the top six but unlikely to slip into trouble.

****in joke if he’s injured. Past couple years it seems whenever we sign someone they get injured straight away
I'm sure Bournemouth fans feel the same way about signing players from us.

I always find the atmosphere is so much better under the lights. I do miss having a game on Saturday though.

Totally agree with the comments about being too predictable in our reliance on playing down the wings. I guess that may be as much due to a lack of quality in our attacking midfielders. Maybe Twine can change that? I also think Sykes would be better more central.
I guess we will find out if the one dimensional attack is an LM tactical flaw or due to the players over the next few months.

I think Max gets stick more around his distribution than his actual goal keeping. Some of that is down to the ability of the players to play out from the back, plus the lack of a target man up front that he can aim for. In other words, largely not within his control and down to tactics and the limitations of the team as a whole.

Tanner's throw-ins in the last ten minutes yesterday were very frustrating. Not blaming GT, who I think is a really solid defender. Just needs more thought going into them as, much as commented above, this has been annoying me for a few seasons now.

I am really not convinced at all by this appointment. Will just sign central midfielder after central midfielder, no width, no pace and power which is what gets you off your seat in football, no plan B….sorry it is boring football! Nigel did not need to be replaced for this! Not going to sell tickets.
Remind me, what have our last two crowds been?

I had forgotten that Chris Woods played for us.
Understandable, very forgettable he was.

My prediction for the 2nd half is JP mentioning Ralph Milne on 72 mins.
He mentioned the away end being named after him
Already mentioned Glyn Riley 'I'm sure many of you will remember him' - on national TV .

Makes next Saturday absolutely huge as the run of games after, look to be really tough…..
Also, by the time we go to Coventry, we will know the squad we have for the rest of the season too
We do seem to get more out of what, on paper, look to be tougher games. Let's hope that continues.

What a pointless question - it really doesn't matter what I want. What we all want is to get promoted and win the PL, like Leicester. I'd vote yes to that.
We have no say whatsoever, regardless of what we want. SL will either get fed up and slash the asking price, writing off a huge sum, or he won't. What we want has bog all to do with anything sadly.

Preston are exactly the sort of team we find it hard to play against. They are spoilers essentially and we’ll need to be patient. I think a draw is very likely.
I thought they played some nice football at AG. Possibly a bit of a harsh assessment of how their current team plays.

Legend, possibly my favourite player of all time (in our best team of all time) & far, far too modest.
An all time great.
Me too, my favourite from that AD team - hence the profile image

The way we play under Manning is very odd, he’s trying to be too clever, Knight almost playing as a CF or left winger.
Agree with this. TC is too isolated and I am not convinced Knight is best utilised that far forward. Weimann only seems to contribute when he is played as a striker yet he gets put on the wing.
Just not sure Manning is playing what we have in the way of attacking players in their most effective positions. Mehmeti on the left having to constantly cut back onto his right foot being particularly frustrating.

Frustrating to see Mehmeti unwilling/unable to ever take the FB on down the outside. Constantly cuts back onto his right foot.

If you compound it.
Otherwise 1%of 20 billion is the 20 million he puts In each season. It really is just pocket money to him.
Plus, anyone with £2bn can easily earn 5% per annum interest, which is £100m so spending £20m on city is only a bit of the interest, let alone the capital.

“When all of those are all fit” seems a very unlikely basis to plan from.
Naismith’s availability record is poor, Roberts has shown little to believe he’s going to be in contention.
The other two have been unlucky with one injury, that’s where I’d start planning.
It obviously doesn't need ALL of them to be fit. The point was that we are a bit light on defenders currently to play a three, which would allow us to play two up front. However that could change in the near future.

All of our forwards would perform better in a genuine two, rather than either being isolated or pushed wide in a three.
Exactly. When McCrorie, Atkinson, Roberts and Naismith are fit I'm hoping to see more of a 3-5-2 as I think our strikers would be more suited to that. Currently we just have too many defenders injured to consistently play this way I suspect.

We should get Conway and Cornick to watch that game to see how to finish a one on one with the goalie. He buried it and made it look easy.

Agreed.
But Williams has played well when he's come in.
Really? Funny how we all see a different game. I don't rate him and would definitely be letting him go when his contract ends. James is a harder decision but on balance I just feel his lack of pace and energy would mean I'd be looking to release him too. Frees up space for LM to sign players and help the transition to 'his' team.
-
I think the reality is that we haven't got any forwards who can play as a lone striker and yet that's what we ask them to do. All of them look better with a partner. For me Cornick is what you get when you spend peanuts. You have to blame the Board, not the recruitment team or the player, who clearly is giving 100%.
If we insist on playing this way then we need a different type who can lead the line and is a good finisher. They cost and that's where the Lansdowns draw the line.

Where is the info about Bird being loaned back coming from? Haven't seen any announcement yet - does Robbored have copyright on this sort of comment btw?
