  1. I guess if you are a billionaire of a certain age and have spent £100m+ then you might want to do something that at least gives you a bit of short term interest. If Nige was hard work, with little to celebrate on the pitch and Sky having zero interest in covering us, Lampard might be tempting.
  2. Want Potter or Hasenhuttl (probably no chance of either)i Expect Dean Smith.
  3. I work in the public sector and see this all the time. Management consultants come in and write a report which usually is just a summary of what everyone already knows. Then they suggest changes which invariably aren't based on analysis, just their views. Then it gets ignored. Total waste of time and money.
  4. So, let's say the new guy comes in, we win 6 games in a row and are up to 3rd. You telling me you are still staying away?
  5. Bear in mind that him selling doesn't guarantee we get a new owner who makes better decisions. Look at Chelsea, what a mess they've made spending ridiculous amounts.
  6. As a relative exile, down in Devon, I'm not sure how well the OTIB bubble reflects what the wider fanbase thinks. I don't personally feel the level of outrage expressed on here. It will be interesting to see the atmosphere at AG. If a new Head Coach comes in and results improve and SL feels encouraged to spend in the next few windows I'll be ok about them moving on from Nige. I think he was unlucky to lose his job but hey, football is full of stories like this. At another club he probably would've been sacked some time ago as he had several bad runs.
  7. I can never get Dean Smith's Walsall being played off the pitch by Cotts' team out of my head whenever he is mentioned. Wouldn't inspire me in any way if we get him.
  8. Really didn't think anyone at sky was capable of that depth of understanding. It certainly captures it very well.
  9. Ipswich don't seem to be doing too badly with a young coach with no Championship experience. Would prefer not to have someone like Rowett who has experience but little success. Trouble is we know the Lansdowns will most likely pick the wrong one. Can't say I have any knowledge myself on who might be a good choice.
  10. Probably not a popular view, but part of any job is to build a good relationship with your superiors. If NP couldn't do this (and let's face it he has form in this area) then it is partly his failure. We appear to be smack in mid-table again so I don't think it is unreasonable to want to make a change. Unfortunately we all know SL has a terrible track record for picking managers.
  11. This is a good summary of my feelings too. It is a reason why I wouldn't be that upset if NP moves on. I agree it would be a bit harsh but if he has fallen out with SL and we will only spend if we get a new manager I'd rather we moved on. I do think it takes two to tango and keeping the owners happy is surely part of the job. It is boring and predictable at the moment so a change might actually work, who knows.
  12. How much have Ipswich spent on their squad since getting promoted. Genuine question as if it isn't much then SL will no doubt be saying we should be able to match them.
  13. Thought Nige seemed quite calm and relaxed in today's presser.
  14. It's unfortunate that, if Nige needs some breathing space, we are up against Ipswich next. Much as I really dislike Swiss Tony the evidence suggests his new side are likely to help the Lansdowns out if they want to find a reason to get rid of NP.
  15. I think we can agree that Top 6 is a target we all want to achieve. If they had binned LJ earlier for not achieving it, rather than give him a new contract, then they would have half a leg to stand on.
  16. At busy times I now default to using the A38 from J22 in both directions. Invariably it is quicker than staying on the motorway as that stretch is often very slow.
  17. I'm actually enjoying the QFs this weekend. Normally egg chasing leaves me cold as most games seem to be decided by the ref giving penalties for things I hadn't even seen. Rules are just too complicated for me. If you don't like VAR at least the things they check are easy to understand. Despite all that the NZ game and today's matches have been very entertaining.
  18. Williams seems to be a good guy with the right attitude but just isn't good enough imo to push us on to being a top six team. Maybe it is down to the injuries he's had. We should be looking at other options in MF and use him as cover.
  19. After a quarter of the season I think we are pretty much where we will end up, mid-table.....again. We are the perfect example of a championship team. Can raise our game and play really well one game then play crap the next. Inconsistency is typical of this division and is the only thing you can honestly say we excel at. No doubt there will be good days to keep us going but SL has basically ensured where we will end up by refusing to sanction any more signings. It is hard to get excited about a season where you know we aren't gonna trouble the top six.
  20. Think Alexander may have had a role in going for him? Might be another reason why we let him go...
  21. Can you buy tickets in S82? I thought it was sold out to ST holders.
  22. Personally I think what GJ achieved puts him ahead of SC. Mind you, if he had been backed in the transfer market and stayed longer I could've seen Cotts overtaking him. Still feel annoyed about how that ended.
  23. Thanks - that sorted my page layout issue too ?
