  1. What a complete shambles. It feels like sadly Bury are going to be kicked out, which would be a tragedy for a club that has a decent history. I feel that Bolton will limp on but you might as well put (R) by their name in the league table now. If Bury get kicked out I hope the EFL stump up to cover the lost match revenue as it is a lot for clubs like Burton and Accrington
  2. Doesn't sound good for poor old Bury. If they are kicked out, I'm guessing it is too late to reprieve Plymouth who finished 21st last year so they'll just play with 23 teams.
  3. It’s a shame that the Class of 92 didn’t take over Bury rather than getting yet another Greater Manchester team into the league. In other countries like Belgium the solution is mergers but I guess that would never happen here.
  4. How can Reading have spent so much and yet be doing so badly? Bear in mind, they finished 20th last season...
  5. Mr P - a couple of question for you if I may: - Could some of the clubs who may be in trouble with FFP avoid punishment by having a January firesale (I can see that Villa are not planning to do that but maybe Brum)? - If a club was to get punished under FFP would they then start with a blank sheet of paper or could they risk being punished next season as well?
  6. Agree that the Football League need to make an example of someone, with punishment now rather than years down the line (a la QPR). As Villa had 20 seasons in the Prem before they came down, I'm assuming they would have started with a blank sheet of paper and 0 losses. I'm guessing the temptation was to put all those losses into the first 2 seasons and gamble on going straight back up. They really should be able to get back up without having to break the rules as they are the biggest club in the division. I read a prediction on Sky the other day that Man City could be banned from next season's Champions League over FFP. It's worth remembering the reason it came in was to stop more situations like Portsmouth/Leeds/Luton (where often the local businesses who were creditors suffered more than the football club)
  7. Good result! Didn't sound like a classic but points are all at this stage of the season.
  8. Fantastic result, although we probably got the rub of the green. Sheff U have to blame their own indiscipline and their manager for bringing on attacking subs when down to 10.
  9. Ummm.... this is embarrassing. I have been going since 1988 and have always heard it as "calling". Thanks for putting me right.
  10. I'm taking my partner's nephews from New Zealand to the Reading game on Saturday and want to explain to them about the singing. Could someone come up with a good way to explain this song to them. Thanks
  11. Excellent result. let's hope we can take the same form to Tuesday and finally beat Leeds.
  12. Probably a decent point in the end. Need to match or better MK's result on Tuesday to be mathematically safe
  13. Poor first half but at least we are only one down. Need to regroup and bring on Odemwingie. Can still get something from this
  14. I agree with Loon that we have to be prepared that the Gas might reach the Championship (if only briefly). It's not just about money but about competence. It's hard for this guy to do much worse than the last Rovers board. If you look at attendances: Rovers are currently getting 7.5k in league 2, which is 4th. The way FFP works, it's not suprising to see them doing reasonably well. If they got to League 1, they might go up to 9k. This would put them 5th as there are still a lot of small clubs in that division and give them a reasonable chance of doing well. If they got to the Championship, they might go up to 10.5k, which would put them 22nd and make it very hard to survive more than a season or two at most (just look at how Rotherham have struggled). In contrast, we are getting 15k this season, which puts us 16th. However, with the building work we are at 91% capacity. Next season we can probably get 17k, which would put us around 12th-13th and give us a more sustainable financial platform for at least a solid mid table finish
  15. I think he is suggesting that people in Brighton may wish to use the cucumber to stimulate their prostates. Not a good idea though unless they want to risk ending up in the hospital with nasty perforations!
  16. Time to bring back Wilbs? He got some flack but we were scoring more when he was in the team.
  17. Come on City. With Charlton getting stuffed it's a great opportunity to put 3-4 points between us and the bottom 3
