  1. Sorry....but realism is kicking in here. We are seriously putting our hopes in a player who wasn't good enough for League one last year, and the the Times I seen him....looked bang average at league 2 level.

The fact we seem to be linked with any striker who has scored at Championship level....yet It's clear to see our big issues are midfield, really baffles me.

Yes because no one can use that time to get game time. Or use the summer to get stronger and sharper. No one has ever been average one year and come on later. Look, I get what you're saying and I don't think anyone has the highest hopes that Bobby will be our best player this season but can he provide us an option in the Freeman role? I think we can look at the Leeds game and see the ability and hope he can provide the competetion/cover needed.

As far as midfield I don't count that role too much in it. Freeman puts in a shift but isn't very defensive. An upgrade is needed in the but over Pack. Pack is a solid player but of the 3 in that midfield, Pack is the weakest by far. So we do need to look for a CM but don't think it needs to be that advanced role.

  2. We'd all love cheaper tickets mate but our new owner is aiming to try and get more season ticket holders by selling them much cheaper than match day (it was 42 quid for my seat but my ST works out at 20.86).

Fair enough. Not blaming SW solely for ticket prices just happened to be the first match so easier example. Just like seeing stadiums look full. All the empty seat are wasted. Maybe could've made U12s free for the first match bring more people in. As I said not SW solely just an example as we've seen it.

  3. Last time we had close to capacity was in 2012 when we got 39k v Wycombe.

Well regardless of FFP, think a cheaper ticket would've made your stadium look more full while still getting close to the same income. Say 30k at 30 a ticket compared to 39 at 23k. You make slightly more than at 39 per ticket. Of course you can't calculate it that way with season tickets but you get the point. Like I said it's pointless though as its over and even we are going to charge more than 30(which is too much but for now I'm gonna assume around average for this league) in some matches.

  4. Capacity is just shy of 40k.

Well there you go. Think you could've been close to that at 25 a ticket and appropriate youth tickets. It's over now though. Just think you guys missed an opportunity at filling your stadium. I would've most likely gone if not for the ticket prices and I'm sure you would've had a few more supporters as well.

Oh well though. Have a good season

  5. I was being facetious, but found it funny someone slating 23k.....

23k is good. I just think we all feel it could've been more if the tickets would've been a tenner cheaper. I watched it and it didn't look full so I imagine your capacity is around 30k?

We can't say much though as our aren't much cheaper for our opener. Think 34 but that may not be our cheapest. Point is, football ticket prices in England are appalling. Our 16k(for now) will probably just about sell out no matter the price as it's the first game(and about 12.5k season tickets of I'm not mistaken).

To the game, SW surprised me. I thought they'd be less organized than they were with their new signings. Think you did a fair bit of business early though and seems to have paid off. Wallace and your other winger(can't remember but missed a couple gimmes) were outstanding and will be a nightmare for everyone if they play like that every week. I've watched this group for Bristol City quite a bit last season and we always struggled with one of our wing backs missing. We played a good hour without both. Fredricks needs time to adapt to the role and I hope Bryan isn't out long(naughty challenge by the way) and Little can come back soon. With Bryan and Little out there we are much better both attacking and defensively as they both know when to get forward and when to sit back a bit. Our strikers had no service at all. Don't think it's too fair to judge them harshly. Kodjia needs more time to get some English down and an understanding with Wilbs and Agard. Just think it's too early to judge everyone. Think a good spanking will do us some good. Hopefully show our owner we need to spend a bit more, our manager the holes and what we need to work on and the squad that mistakes will be punished and need to be close to perfect.

  6. Yep. Fair do's. His short 5 yard passing was fine, but pretty much everything he attempted as a forward-attacking pass was terrible. He lost the ball very easily a few times and 1 where he gifted Lopez what should've been a goal. He wasn't as tenacious as usual and was sloppy in possession, I thought.

By contrast, Pack found his range of passing much better in the 2nd half and was involved in penetrating the opposition with a number of forward or cross-field passes.

Sadly though, because he got tackled once he'll be everyone's boo boy.

I thought Pack settled for sure and Korey I've never seen play as poorly. Usually no flash but solid and rarely giving up possession and winning it back. Just wasn't his normal performance but I'm sure it'll come in time.

I personally think we never play as well when Joe and Mark Little aren't our WBs. So Fredricks and anyone new will need a few matches to adjust(as it did Tavenier).

    Any news on Joe?

  7. Just a bit of a reality check today by the sounds of it.

No need to over-react. We were never going to emulate last season's results but we have to stick by the guys who gave us so many precious memories and let them grow into a higher division.

As Swindon found out last season, nothing is won or lost before Xmas and it isn't even mid August yet!

Stay positive and happy - we're in a tough division and there will be some great highs and dreadful lows coming up.

I'm going to try and enjoy it......

Yes I think this is the perfect way to explain it. I'm not upset with the result. QPR also lost 2-0 today and they came from a division up!

Just think the mood is so poor as an extension from the summer and the fact that it was just a poor performance. No one impressed and I think they now know a bit better what it's going to take. Brentford won't be easy either but as long as we play better I'll be happy

  8. Wallace has been a nightmare today. Lesson learned today. Dust ourselves off. Take care of Luton and get back to our football.

Things I didn't like was the long ball up to Wilbs. An option? Yes but that seemed like our game plan which doesn't make much sense to me with only Freeman and Kodjia as support.

Also don't like how we use Williams as a playmaker. He over dribbles at times and always plays the long ball.

Everyone was awful on the ball today. Need more sharpness.

    Things I did like

Ayling looked the part today. Thought he was good.

Flint was Flint for the most part.

Burns had a very strong game. Looks a winger to me.

All in all, still need time to gel which is the price you pay for doing business late, even if it is good business.

  9. No, it's fine you told me.

We can go into this with a squad of about 12, surely?

I may not be understanding you correctly but our squad is bigger than 12. Though I didn't mean we need more in terms of transfer(which we do but wasn't my point). I mean the lads need to dig a bit deeper into their abilities for this league. I think they're capable. It's most of their first games in this league. I think this will serve as a wake up to them all. And I'm very sure we will be much sharper next weekend on set pieces and counters. I saw I think Bradford score 2 set prices against us in a match last season. Can't recall many after. Also recall the other Sheffield counter us at the gate to the tune of 3-1. Don't recall many more after that. Cotts will straighten them out on that front.

  10. I'll give it a few games but anyone thinking our squad didn't need competition for places watch this game. Everyone looks a step below everyone on SW. Can definitely turn it around and I'm sure we will sharpen but most have been poor today. Get used to this because it's the "new" championship. Higher fees, higher wages and much better players. This is what can happen when you don't get players in early and don't want to compete with wages and fees. Will have to spend to be competitive. Can be smart spending but to get quality you'll have to pay for it which we have been willing to do yet.
