  1. Holdens/Johnson's reigns really havent aged well given how long it's taken to recover! not suprised they are both going to struggle to get a job soon-very poor appointments by Ashton/SL
  2. Agree on knight-showed that he can receive the ball in tight areas and run at defences. Feels like he's more suited to playing away from home where there are gaps. really enjoyed that game and thought we gave it a good go. Disappointing goal to concede but both teams had really good chances-think we probably deserved to win though. structure of the team looked good and Naismith added that quality on the ball. Now let's try and replicate that this performance level at home!
  3. Yep. I think Naismith is the best passer of the ball we have-really has a superb range and being left footed offers a bit of balance. knight provides the energy and James provides the control. ticks all the boxes
  4. Don't think Naismith can play in a back 4 and pring isn't bad at LCB-I'd go with pring and roberts at left back. id then play a double pivot of James/Naismith with knight number 8. Reckon weiman will be central striker with wells being on bench
  5. I understand why we are looking to limit the wage bill and not Chuck the Scott money at it like we did under Ashton-that didn't work so Steve is trying a different approach. does feel like we are being very prudent with our recruitment now-signing youngsters with growth in them that have a sell on value. Also seem to be looking for angles which I like-such as dickie being exposed at QPR and the West Brom lad being played in too many positions. Not very exciting for fans though as looks like another mid table finish (at best) and we now know even if we sell more players the money won't be reinvested! would also like someone to ask lansdown about the sound bites of 'whatever football makes it can spend' and 'we have two recruitment plans depending on what happens with Scott'! Do these still hold true-if so I'd like to see the recruitment play with Scott!
  6. If he does sign I think it's a good move as it will clearly be on peanuts. Clearly the concern is availability (which is presumably why he hasn't found another club) but we would be getting experienced back-up at a good price
  7. This is great! The analysis of lee Johnson is spot on and really thought provoking about what nige inherited!
  8. Late to the party on this but just watched it-wish all interviews were like this, when you actually learn stuff! His answer on playing on the left (which has been a concern of mine) was superb on 7 minutes. love this signing-basically he got exposed last season by the QPR midfield not providing enough protection. With a decent team structure (which he alludes to) I think he's outstanding at this level, with the bonus of great distribution!
  9. There is no way we haven't planned for this scenario-it would be complete negligence if we don't have a list of targets ready to go. I fully expect some short term cover for Conway, an advanced midfielder who can handle the ball and create and maybe a left sided CB to be signed this summer. Nige is pretty canny-he has sent a message to selling teams that we aren't splashing the cash and he's sent a message to the board that he expects some of the funds. I also hope anyone that believed that Scott was injured feels pretty embarrassed! It's these same naive people that thought we would keep Scott! It's a no brainer and we will be stronger at end of window than we were at the beginning with zero FFP issues!
  10. Don't think we have cash flow issues so not sure this is relevant for ffp calcs?
  11. Not sure if been mentioned but how good was will Keane today! Think we lack they hold up player, especially away from home..
  12. Really want the £25m but hoping we get to see him one last time on the weekend!
  13. In other words warne is saying 'please come back in with a 3rd bid' to us. He clearly wants to leave so it's just a matter of agreeing a fee.
  14. With Wigan, villa had parachutes and would have been screwed if they didn't sneak up that year
  15. We would be in league one after being relegated with a points deduction pal.
  16. Disagree. We are fairly close to FFP limits and keeping him puts all our eggs in one basket. What happens if he gets injured or suffers a loss of form? £25m plus a nice little sell on clause basically solves FFP and would allow us to really upgrade all areas of the pitch with more quality. I could get behind keeping him until Jan to see how we are getting on but we cannot let him enter the last 18 months of his contract imo.
  17. I think he will struggle to get a deal anywhere near what he's currently earning. Availability has been poor for a couple of seasons and clubs are reluctant to take risks on players now. Good player when fit but I'd move him on unless he accepts a huge reduction in wages
  18. Yes it's strange as I rate him and love watching him play but I want him sold this summer! £25m could be invested in the squad and wouldn't be putting our eggs in one basket-imagine if he got injured or suffered a sudden loss of form! also I'm really intrigued to see how he'd get on in the prem with better players alongside him!
