  1. I haven’t said we haven’t shown ambition. I have said we haven’t shown ambition similar since we were in league one. Rovers would be signing one of the leagues top strikers. When have we signed one of the Championships best players? I don’t know the Rovers squad, I’m merely basing it on a player by player basis. We’ve signed some fantastic potential, but it’s potential. Rovers objectives seem to be promotion this season, ares aren’t.
  2. JCH has won the golden boot the last 2 seasons he’s played in league one. That is the definition of a top league one striker. Yes we’ve signed international players, but that doesn’t make them top championship players (Magnússon prime example). Like I’ve said, you could argue Naismith (Luton player of the season) and Kalas is a shout (promotion with Fulham/Boro). JCH would walk into all, or at least most, of league one teams. For that division it’s massive.
  3. Absolutely agree. They have signed lots of older players on contracts and younger players on loans. Our approach in league one was much stronger and longer term, sign the leagues best young players which fit out approach. All I was making the point is that JCH is a great league one signing for any club, and a real signal of intent. We haven’t made a similar signal intent for years, perhaps Naismith? (but then no other signings have supported since)
  4. I’m not worried? But his signing for Rovers is very ambitious for their league. We’ve not signed someone of the same level since we were in that league (closest Naismith?)
  5. I don’t want to sign him. I agree Conway is better. But he’s a great signing for them.
  6. Wells hasn’t got over 20 goals in the Championship. JCH has 26 and 31. JCH also got 13 goals in the champ last season…
  7. This would be a fantastic signing for Rovers. One of the leagues best strikers. We have no equivalent signings since we were in league one signing Freeman IMO. Embarrasing really.

    England

Sterling, Ward-Prowse, Bowen all on form. Phillips 0 mins. Henderson has basically retired. What is Southgate on?
  9. Who is on the big wages? Based on our starting line ups: Max - academy, imagine a fairly low wage for a Champ keeper Tanner - came from league two Vyner - see Max Dickie - perhaps a decent Champ wage, but can't imagine wild. Pring - see Vyner James - could he be on a decent chunk? But was brought in during the Nigel cut back era. Knight - came from league one, can't be mega wages Williams - can't imagine Wigan was major payers, but could be on a decent wedge Bell - see Pring Wells - took a big pay cut, imagine on a good salary but not outrageous Sykes - see Knight It doesn't make sense. Our bench involves more academy kids, Weimann (but pay cut) and Cornick, and some league one players.
  10. I wouldn't. Lots of things you can throw at them, but they'd watch every game.

    Scunny update

I work with Peter Swann's daughter in law, so been keeping a loose eye on this. I don't think the Swann's have been great, but do think they originally went into the club with the best intentions. However it must be hard to keep pumping money in, the club dramatically drop down leagues and still have motivation. They were trying to sale for years, and the new owners are very shady from what I can tell. No win situation for Scunthorpe at the moment in all honesty.
  12. Wells, Cornick and Weimann all have enough Championship experience to be good enough. I actually think the issue is our only form of attack is going wide, and either a crap cross or the odd time it is good we aren't big enough. We need to vary up our approach to get the best out of our players.
  13. Talks of LJ replacing Holden at Charlton who has apparently been sacked tonight
  14. Williams, great athlete but not a natural footballer.
  15. He’s got a good goal scoring record and gets into good positions. If only he could actually cross a ball he’d be quality
  16. Good experience. Really nice pre-game buffet, normally a few guest speakers, pie and refreshments at half time. I enjoyed it, perhaps though one to take opposition fans / casual supporters if for an occasion.
  17. Exactly. Speeds the deal through, West Brom get £700k right now so they are happy, we get a player for £2m just spread over a couple of years.
  18. We will never sign anyone like Scott's level unless we get to the Prem.
  19. Really good show. Need to book into the Pony for a roast soon. The community aspect of the Pony is incredible.
  20. He has only had last season where he was out a lot, season before he played 35 games and 40 prior to that.
  21. How did he communicate? How did he inspire confidence?
  22. What did Gould do which was excellent which Alexander isn’t doing?
