I thought you needed a passport if flying to Dublin ? i should know as i've been there countless times but always used my passport (in saying that you don't need any ID when going to Ireland by boat)

No, flew there last month. Driving license is fine!

As someone who flies regularly, Sky Scanner is the best.

  2. Probably Semenyo makes the most sense right now, additional attacking presence in a position we lack.

Our defence is okay, plus we have Twine so lack of a need for Scott at the moment. Szmodics, Reid, Tammy wouldn't get the service they need. We need someone who makes something out of nothing.

Not sure what you're trying to achieve if you're not interested ignore the thread!

I am interested, but find it odd that this can be classed as more beneficial to the main thread than ex players chat (who people could equally just ignored threads).

In fairness this is discussing Palmer and England.

Latter in the thread yes, but began just talking about Palmer's performance. But this apparently takes precedence over things which are Bristol City connected.

  5. This thread sums up the issue with the forum in my opinion.

Two pages on a non City player (yes cracking player and all that), vs a thread on Pack having a great season on the "ex-players" sub forum and no replies at all.

Think we need to relook at how the forum is set up.

    TransferRoom.

Its how we “swiped right” with Bajic.

(I had to Google the swipe direction)

That's the one. I really hope it's not how we signed Mabude, but I have a hunch.

Think we need to give up online scouting and go back to the good old fashion actually looking at players.

@Harry do you have meetings about recommended players still? Or has that fallen on it's head?

  7. Feels like we didn't do our due diligence to be honest. Isn't there an online market place where you can basically court clubs to sign your players? I'm sure that's what happened with someone like Semenyo to Bournemouth?

For me it feels like a panic signing. Westerlo wanted him gone, we saw Man City history and snapped him up.

Of course I'd rather watch us win games but if the end result is achieving the same outcome as a team that finished midtable then it's not a success.

The two play off legs vs Palace, memories for generations. Being one game away from the Premier League, a famous day out.

Give me that over this season where frankly I don't care about any of our games anymore.

Lisbon is high on my list purely down to the series “Somebody Feed Phil” on Netflix. He also ate at Ponto Final. Looked incredible. If you’ve not seen the series, at least have a look for that Lisbon episode. Certainly looks like a foodies heaven over there

I'd recommend doing Lisbon first, then getting the train to Porto like we did. We then took a minibus out to the Douro region for wine and port tasting. Fantastic day!

off to Sal Grosso in Lisbon tonight. Have to say, here and Porto have been eye opening in terms of quality of food at such insanely low prices.

Bit late now, but went to Ponto Final in Lisbon last year. It's got very popular from TikTok (it is on a little jetty on the river, insane view), and the food was outstanding and so cheap! (They could of definitely charged a premium).

Also went to a restaurant called Blind in Porto, one of the best meals I've ever had. Experiential food. Incredible and again well priced.

    Whether Liam lasts 5 more minutes or 5 more years, this is what will happen when we appoint his replacement;

A small % will instantly dislike the replacement & will find it hard to shake that, whatever he does. On balance this group will be proved right, most of our managers fail.

Another small % will be totally pro the new replacement (either as they really like him or his type).

These 2 small groups will make a lot of noise & drown out the majority who'll generally support the new bloke as him doing well makes their Saturdays much more fun.

I've already covered my bases with fiver each on Frank Lampard & Mark Robins to be our next boss #itk

Most managers fail. Not just ours.

Do you think the signing of Bird will be sufficient to halt the current negative trajectory? (The chances are the likes of Stokes and SB-H will be peripheral players at best).

The strategy appears to be - get to the end of the season, any which way we can, then buy a couple of young midfielders.

Is that really going to be the answer, given what we've seen?

    I'm sceptical, to be honest.

No, I think we need to move Manning, Tinnion and JL on to reverse our current trajactory.

But I also don't think the club is at rock bottom. It's not the worst I've seen it.

It may be a sinking ship, but it's because of the Captains, not because there's a massive hole in it. It's got a lot of potential.

All the positives you mention have either been destroyed or are in the 'process' of being.

    Disagree.

The style of play is poor, and results are on a negative trajectory. I'll give you that.

Are we signing old journeyman on high wages? No. Bird, Stokes etc suggest otherwise.

Are we removing the academy? Some players like Yeboah have been shipped on loan, which is odd after being in the first team, but also I expect the likes of Palmer-Holden etc to be in and around the squad next year.

So it's not all the positives being destroyed, it's merely the style of play IMO.
