Liam Rosenior won us a trophy.
What has Rooney ever won?
Er... oh hang on...
He banged a granny

Liam is a good guy and presents himself well on TV so would imagine he's liked by the players.

Done a much better job at Derby than I thought he would

You would have said the same about Man City years ago.
Fair point. I'm a believer that each club has its good times but where it stands changed from the 30/40 years ago is the money from around the world being put into clubs.

I would expect a new man would get some money. How they stand with what ever passes for FFP in the Prem I don't know. If the internet is to be believed, Everton's net spend over 5 years is £540million. I don't see them scrimping with the next manager.
They are still a big attraction but will alwys be in the shadow of Liverpool

The thing with Manager's jobs, they only come up at certain times. Those "obvious fit" jobs are rare enough, but if they asked would he want it now? Unfinished business at Derby and Everton are a mess.
That said, if the Administrators continue to sell off the family silver cheaply, then it could make his job, at which he's done brilliantly so far, impossible. I would guess there would be some money to spend, the transfer window's open and it's a club he grew up supporting. There must be a big pull to go there, but very early in his learning curve. A look at Lampard who made a similar step might make him have 2nd thoughts.
Until you get back to how often these jobs come up. They have spent a hell of a lot of money to be this shit, I bet the board would like some time to think. Being sensible I doubt they can afford to think too much, the new man will want "his players" in, with half the month gone.
It will be interesting. Will there be much money to buy players now that the new stadium build is underway

Could be to do with money . Thought we might’ve had a couple in . Been in the game a long time . Plenty of talent in the lower leagues but always a gamble
As that centre half from Oxford showed any promise when he's been given a start

Been mentioned that Nige doesn't like loans.
That said we may be forced into it. No money to spend, and no fit right back.Sometimes it can be the best option if you get the right ones in and you may end up signing them in the summer if they impress and they're not wanted at their parent clubs

It surprises m too that we gift teams goals and the gaffa a decent stopper. Nigel can only work with what he’s got I suppose
Could he not get a couple of loan players in as he must have a lot of contacts

Yes I do . I think Atkinson is the answer and a better footballer than Flint who knew his limitations
Sometimes it works having a big brickhouse type centre half who can do the dirty work alongside a ball playing more cultured footballer that's why I'm surprised Pearson hasn't sorted that out from day one and used that a platform to build a side that won't concede many goals.

Nigel tbf has said at times his selections have been wrong . Poor old Vyner who had previously been playing well given the task of stopping the big man was a mistake . A left footer at right back smacks of desperation to me . We’ve been unfortunate with injuries and I think we’ve deliberately gone with a smaller squad as to save money and is now biting us on the arse, more of a club decision than the boss’s . We have limited options which has forced the kids into playing and as long as we stay up, major surprised If we don’t , these lads have talent and will be a year wiser next season
Do you think your missing a Aiden Flint type centre half to go with the talent you have?

Could be a huge mistake, they could easily get dragged into the mire. Club a mess pre Benitez. Unless they have a man and a plan it could be disaster.
They're think the new stadium under construction is the answer to their progression but at what cost as they still need to buy players!

The selection that is baffling a lot of people from yesterday is how Atkinson, a lump of a centre half we bought from Oxford who can play a bit as well didnt get selected to have a battle with Mitrovic.
For Pearson to say he picked Zak because he has been playing well was a nonsense. We lacked a physical presence, surely its horses for courses and needed someone to go toe to toe with the Serb yesterday.
I agree not picking a big centre half to try and nullify Mitrovic is baffling as he scores goals for fun in the championship If allowed time and space to dictate the game.
-
Considering NP was a no nonsense centre Half I'm surprised that you have the joint second worst goals conceded in the championship.

I never tire of reading about games like Reading away, it feels like being part of history, all be it a tainted one.
I actually lived in a hamlet on Exmoor that didn’t even have a pub. Now here I was involved in an event so big and mental it made the back page headlines of the nationals and we’re still talking about it 38 years later.
I can’t be the only one who would find this kind of thing completely unacceptable now and be ashamed to be associated with it……….but at the time it was one hell of a buzz and weirdly helped you deal with unsavoury incidents as life went on.
After all, if you were at Reading, Millwall, Corinthien Casuals, Swindon etc a flare up in a pub, club or whatever would feel like a quiet night compared.
Reading is a strange one as they never brought many down here when we played them years ago and not sure who their rivals are as it's not us or Oxford maybe Aldershot!

Ross Stewart at Sunderland looks handy if Sunderland ever sold him

Do Brummies prefer Weston or Blackpool?
If you go behind the sea front along the golden mile Blackpool is a complete dump but travel in land a mile or so or down the road to Lytham St Anne's and there's some real nice places.

I think you are a few years out of date.
To be fair to our friends in blue, they spent a lot of money a few years ago digging up and completely treating and relaying their pitch and, by all accounts, it is now constantly in an excellent condition.
Fair point

Yeah very funny nights . It would never happen now. All those tables full of lads & girls dancing on them & falling off steins in hand. Mental . I’m glad @Shaun Taylorbrought the beer Keller up . I forgot all about it
More to life than football and great to discuss without getting any abuse because I'm from Swindon!
