Look carefully-that's not how I see it. We don't want to lose him so I understand your post but let's face reality here. Manning has created a free flowing, possession based team that has finished the season in fine style. His experience with the City group means that his near success in the Championship will definitely translate into a top ten finish in the PL. He is ready...in fact, he was born ready. Ipswich for a couple of seasons and then he'll be ready to replace Pep.

Please check you have the correct medication :whistle2:

To be fair, I don't mind the owner telling a coach what we all think of the 'entertainment' offered by the team. On the one hand people moan about Manningball being boring and on the other they rail against the Lansdowns for having the arrogance to interfere.

I don't mind having owners who expect our teams to deliver something more than boredom to spectators. Maybe it's just me though.

My thoughts also but if the owner feels that he knows more than the coach/manager then he should employ someone like NP (who has forgotten more than SL knows) & let him get on with the job without interference.

Yes, I woke up to Swiss Tony on the Today programme- cracking start to a Bank Holiday. He also used phrases like “when we came in 2 1/2 - 3 years ago”- as if he was somehow synonymous with the new American owners. I think it was this kind of grandstanding that ultimately p. off SL , and while the consortium will undoubtedly think they picked the right man now, if and when this goes south- and it will- I predict Ipswich fans will be on here conceding that we did warn them.

🤞Just to show MA for what he is, I don't wish it on the fans, we know how much it hurts.

Just like to say well done to Ipswich Town a well run club with no parachute payments promoted to the prem at the 1st attempt. Perhaps Mark Ashton wasn’t the problem after all?!
The status quo will continue next season and for the foreseeable under this Zombie ownership. There will be 3/4 players going out and the same coming in, possibly of a lower quality than those exiting. One or both of Pompey and Derby will leapfrog us. Another season will pass by false dawn after false dawn. Rinse and repeat (again).

I would love to disagree with you but sadly I think you may be right, still don't like Ashton though

To be fair to your to be fair, he said 12k at an earlier point than when Gavin Marshall said 8k.  I guess he could have more real-time data than Gavin, or maybe Gavin told a few porkies to FBC and it was near 12k but he was trying to play it down in an attempt to get more late renewals.

Tbh, it doesn’t really matter, the 12k announced was very good. I suspect @IAmNick might be able to furnish us with another “data scrape”?

    Sounds fair Dave 😉

It's a yes for me on a 2 year deal. I may expect him to play less but I feel he gives us a stability that we sometimes lack and with his invaluable experience he can offer as much off the pitch as on it. I don't see why Williams contract should be a factor as we can accommodate both.

That was my thoughts also, we are paying them now so why not keep them both on, especially when their contribution is so good, on & off the field. I guess it comes down to if they get much better offers elsewhere

Another one with inside knowledge. Come on, spill the beans. Who told you this? Must be one of the first time players. Who is it? Don't be shy.

If this is in fact correct, I'm guessing that it could have been James or King, the 2 most experienced players with the knowledge needed. 2 players linked to the previous manager & that's why imo I think they will both be leaving. In saying that I would love James to stay .

In fairness, Ashton  (who I dislike a lot) had little or nothing to do with appointing LJ or Holden. He did have a lot to do with appointing McKenna. As annoying as that all is.

Facts are, Ashton will have overseen , what seems certain now, a double promotion. He makes me feel like taking some Kwells, but I can see beyond that, and the guy has earned every plaudit going for this. So you have to ask, why he failed at BCFC. We all know that answer. There is a common theme.

I've thought the same re Ashton a few times. Credit to him for what he/they've achieved but it doesn't make him likeable does it ?

I had a garden bench delivered by Almondsbury Garden Centre this evening. I can honestly say that I was rather disappointed to find there was no Mbude attached.

The man who was tasked with getting this club back on track following years of reckless ownership and blind faith in poor managers. He achieved this and more in my book. A togetherness between players and fans we hadn’t seen since Cotts. It was one of those rare situations where fans were on the managers side yet the board wanted rid.

At the end of the day, if it was results, personality clashes, Nige’s health… the reason becomes almost redundant. What is clear is the way in which SL, JL and BT made an absolute shitshow of things and why Nige shouldn’t even give them the time of day.

Exactly my thoughts, what Nige & his team did for this/OUR club was exceptional & he should have had the backing to see what could have been achieved, he was let down badly.

Only just started listening, but one thing that made me laugh.

When asked "are confidentiality clauses forever " Nine replies "ask me in 12 months time" :laughcont:

I liked Nige from day 1 & still consider him to be the best I've seen in charge of BCFC since I've been a supporter since the age of 7yrs, I'm now 76 yrs. In saying that I honestly hope that LM does well & I do support him hoping he's not just another person hung out to dry like so many more before him, but the first 10 mins of this interview enforces to me what 2 faced back stabbing b+++++++ds are running OUR club. The sooner things change at the very top the better as far as I'm concerned, I wish Nige nothing but the very best in the future.

    The man is all class!.

So I go - cautiously - on signs of change. But that change has been exercised in part by a release of pressure. And I think it’s a change in the managerial approach. If that was borne of necessity due to how things were going I don’t care - just realise that we’re better this way and keep going down that track and people, including myself, will be happy.

Agree - seemed more personable this time around. I don't think that it's realistic to expect him to go after half a season. I'll judge him properly post a summer transfer window. Must be doing better prior to Christmas.....he knows this.

Yes, I think that's the only way we can judge fairly

Indeed - the change in demeanour was noticeable and I wonder if it was a coincidence that a more relaxed LM used “stock phrases” less - I don’t think we heard “behaviours” or “process” once.

Exactly SD & I don't recall the "Bravery" call either

  16. That was by far the best interview I've yet seen from LM, tbf he's been under immense pressure (wonder why) so to see him in that relaxed way was a lot easier to take. I'll see what the next few results bring & then try & relax before it all starts again.

Since when has “on the grass” come into the game? They all bloody say it nowadays. It’s probably only been the last 2-3 years I’ve heard it and now everyone says it!

They used to say “on the training pitch”. And in those days, the training pitch was actually made of grass.

Now they say “on the grass” when in fact the training pitch is now made of artificial fibres!!

How stupid. Surely they should either say “on the training pitch” or “on the desso”, because saying “grass” is not strictly true!

Hi Harry, it seems that it gets to you in the same way that reporters get to me by saying "2 Decades ago or 1 Decade on  from now", what the **** is wrong with 20yrs ago or 10 yrs on from now. It makes my pi55 boil :grr: .

Sorry mate just having my old age rant, wouldn't have happened 2 decades 20yrs ago
