Shell-shocked to see this news in Oz this morning.

I just hope Nige had the opportunity to explain to SL & JL what clueless ****s they both are.

Good luck where ever you go next Nige

I meant to add that it will be interesting to see if "The Clueless" make finances available for the new man.

Like many others I am of the firm belief I want Nigel to stay but with all that's going on at the moment it seems inevitable Nige will be gone soon.

Heard a lot of names thrown around just hoping It won't be someone like Rowett would like Eustace if Nige were to leave.

I understand the reasoning behind your post but I would prefer it to be about when SL leaves .

My answer would then be - Anyone that loves the game/that knows the game & would employ NP & his team to finish the job they've started so well

It’s very different to regular jobs.
Nige is a public persona. His health is already in the public arena. Heck, he’s even spoken about it himself. So it’s not like we’re out of order for discussing it.
It’s a matter of public fact in a public facing industry.

As for his contract, if the club decide not to renew his contract on the grounds of health, there is nothing wrong with that at all. Again, this is a very different industry to normal employment.
The club don’t have to give any reason at all if they don’t want to. They can just say “we’ve decided to move on from Nigel” and don’t have to mention a single thing about the reasons why.
It’s a specific length of contract that has been signed and both parties can walk away from it at the expiry by whatever reasons they deem necessary.

Whilst Nigel isn’t as ‘hands on’ in his coaching any more, it’s still a necessity and a material and substantial duty of his role to be able to attend training sessions. Whether in a coaching capacity or in a viewing/analytical capacity, but it is a material and substantial part of the role of a football manager.
If he’s not been able to attend training for the last 5 weeks then he’s not being able to perform the main function of which he is employed.

That’s no secret. It’s public knowledge. And if the club use this as a reason to not renew his contract next July then there is nothing discriminatory about that whatsoever.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible that Nige has now had enough of the situation with SL & has now come out with his views on the situation to say "I'm available" to clubs that are in need of new management. I really do hope that isn't the case but there will be many clubs that will be watching this outcome.

  4. It would appear to me that the majority can see what a top job NP & his staff have done under very difficult conditions. In my 65+ yrs as a supporter I don't think I've seen us in better hands & it appears that SL has turned his back on such an obvious opportunity to achieve.

I know you have to be careful what you wish for but I'm now hoping SL gets out of this club, I appreciate what stability his finances have given us but his priorities are now totally out of whack imo

    Dogs are wonderful friends.

Never had a dog before but my Mrs got a tiny rescue pup from Romania a couple of years ago when I was really struggling. Without my noticing, I improved gradually and a part of it is down to the dog. No judgement, just instant love and they DO know when you're down.

I wouldn't be without the great big lummox now!

It looks as though many of us have so much in common besides our beloved Reds, it's heart warming to see the compassion & friendship on here from total strangers........................... Thankyou ALL

    United we stand :clapping::clap::thumbsup:

This is so true, dogs are the best friends when you need one the most.

My lab is 2 years old and the past 2 years have been a real struggle for me with my mind - I'm late 30s, living away from my family and close friends, my wife and I have been suffering with infertility for years, and life is moving on at a real pace. I am questioning whether I am enough and whether I can make myself happy now and in the future. Having my dog around has got me through some of my worst days - she senses when I'm sad, and never judges me.

So many lovely messages on this thread, it brings me a bit of hope reading them all, so thank you.

You're welcome my friend,  hang in there & you will get through with a mate like that, they're very special, they ask for nothing except friendship & give everything.

Take care & stay safe mate?

I've always wanted a GSD and just need to wait a while for it to be more convenient. I'm sure it'll really help with general wellbeing.

You won't regret it, incredible animals, I'd love another one but couldn't go through the heartache again but of course at my age it could be me leaving first. I just babysit the daughter & sons dogs now, a bit like grandkids just hand them back when they're naughty ?.

    Cheers mate, stay safe ?

You ever seen afterlife? The German Shepherd helped Tony (Ricky Gervais) a lot.

No I haven't but will make a point of doing so, I've read many books on dogs in war situations, Vietnam, bomb detection etc etc etc, they are all such incredible companions. It was the worst day of my life having to take my Shepherd to the vets the day we lost her, it's awful loosing close friends, family members etc but when you have to make that decision it really hits home very hard.

In my previous post it was supposed to read "before they made it out of their teens", I'm guessing people understood anyway.

Thanks for your input, stay safe mate

  9. It really is so sad to see that so many have had mental issues at some stage or another. I too went through a period where I thought I was better off out of it, I lost many mates in motorcycle accidents before they made their teens & honestly thought of ending my mental pain. I decided to come to Oz on my own & saw new outlooks in life that helped me over it, I'm in my mid 70's now & my only real worry is not being around long enough to do the things I want. I guess what I'm trying to say is that no matter how dark & deep your mental state becomes, things will improve if you give it a chance.

My biggest help was a german shepherd that stuck by me through all my bad moments & I'm convinced she sensed my problems, she's long gone now but her memories continue to pick me up.

Never give up & where there's a heartbeat there's hope

That was my immediate thoughts also, perhaps a deal is imminent & he isn't part of the deal , all speculation until the facts come out, if they ever do !!!

Another thought just come to mind - Nige seemed quite miffed over the transfer window finishing the way it did, perhaps there's been a monumental fallout & Uncle Steve has backed Nige........................................................................ Sorry it's medication time.

    AS YOU WERE !!! :gasmask:

You'd assume if there is any truth to this than it must be due to bigger issues / changes afoot than simply the Scott sale or SL's determination to interfere. Perhaps this is a sign of a sale or outside investment?

Nige is having back surgery and will miss the next few games apparently. All the best to the fella for a quick recovery.

Been there done that & thankfully successful, 3 vertebrae fused & cage inserted, all as the last resort. Nige looks as though he's looked after himself better than I have so I hope he has a much simpler surgery planed.

    Good luck Nige ?

Perhaps we just forget looking at footballers and start going to athletic meetings for our new signings

In my day they were doing that in rugby............. sign up the sprinters & see if anyone could catch them.

Imho SL has made in unnecessarily hard for Nige

Yes that's the bottom line isn't it ?

I just hope it's not just Nige that has the balls to point that out to SL, considering the amount of money blown in the past it wouldn't have taken a huge amount to have helped Nige continue with his building & I really hope we can keep NP at the club after all this..................but I am concerned that he'll walk.
