I followed the link, should I disinfect my laptop now?
Yes, you should disinfect, but only with mild disinfectant. It's a 1970's virus, that you're fighting

A victimless crime, just a bruise, from a kick. The gas siding with the accused over the victim. Maybe a Jordanian view.

Was that before or after Hitler saved them from relegation out of the Football League?
Never in danger of relegation out of the league. It was a vote of the clubs and even in those days, everyone loved them.

You just know the solution will involve canvas don't you?
There's gonna be a lot of multi colour tarps, used by leading clubs to cover seats in the Covid crisis, going spare. Expect a bit of Premiership flavour at the gas in future.

Strange indeed. Apart from the core allegations of safeguarding, which reveal some serious disharmony between the football club and its supporters club, one of the replies (which I found more interesting) states:
Well the team got relegated, nothing is happening with a new stadium, the building at the training ground has been found to be not fit for purpose and the manager faces possible imprisonment in two weeks time.
So what is the story about the building at the training ground being unfit for purpose?
Read somewhere that is was too small, lacked any facilities for support and medical staff. Somewhat below the standard expected for the Downs league.

aaaaaaaaaand straight to the replies, standard 1982 reply
My favourites are no 5 - a fire, not the fire, just a regular occurrence. And no 14 as I have a demolition fetish.

cant believe they have gone a whole day without doing anything stupid .
Expect a dull summer. In the past the highlight has been the transfer of the temporary stands to Wimbledon. Sadly no more, Tennis has gone up market.

Did it really take 11 years to demolish that
To be fair, it took them 90 years to build it

All happy families are alike, but each unhappy family is unhappy in it's own way - Tolstoy. The family club are certainly unique with their current meltdown

I think those panels blew out in 1971 or 72 so that photo must have been taken soon after the stand was completed in 1970.
There's a post above from a more observant member than myself, noting that the stand is incomplete (missing stairs and seats). So 1970 is fairly definitive.

Posted similar on twitter (more concise though).
The cynic in me says put the news out on Friday, so there is less time to deal with questions before they close the lines on Friday evening.
If we had a poll yesterday - "Will Bristol move to tier 2", I suspect nobody would have said yes. Maybe the club have been caught on the back foot.

Marvin thinks there is gonna be a fest of affordable housing. Given the location, I suspect not.

they probably were rivals with Villa for a brief period....Villa climbed out of Division 3 in the 70's on their way to a European Cup win in the early 80's
The rivalry only lasted one season. It was 50/50. Villa had half the tote end.

It's going to be portacabins next to the pitches, isn't it?
More likely an extended social distancing period where players are asked to change and shower at home.

The last game versus Liverpool certainly tested those limits.

Anyone remember what the standing capacity of the old East end was? IIRC seated capacity was around 4K wasn't it?
Don't know for sure but in the 1st division days, we had a capacity of 37,000 with 7,000 seats. So 30k for the terraces. Not unreasonable to assume 10-11 K. Not sure they would all have a view.

To be fair, that article is somewhat dated. The author refers to the Gas only playing in the middle two divisions (although bottom of 3rd division South is a stretch). They've expanded their use of the pyramid structure in recent years.

I genuinely saw that picture and thought it was a joke for a few seconds until I realised it was a real photo of their “stadium”.
Unbelievably tinpot.
Maybe tinpot, but if stadiums are reopened with social distancing requirements, they can just pick up the chairs and move them.

I'm a Guardian reader, but christ they do write some crap at times. I suspect the author didn't actually visit Ipswich.
