  1. I thought it was the classic 'my neighbour is in the Guinness book of records for the most concussions... He lives just a stones throw away'
  2. It's a pity that neither Jimmy or Chris can be there but Adam representing Chris made me think about footballers families and netball. Many will be aware that Gary & Phil Neville's sister Tracy played for and was head coach of the England Roses but I wonder how many know that current England Roses (and former player) Jessica Thirlby is Chris Garland's daughter.
  3. I copped out. Couldn't remember if we were Bristol Academy, Bristol Vixens or Bristol City when she played.
  4. 1-1. A superb game of football. England dominated midfield first half through Williamson and Walsh, but Canada changed their shape abd bossed the second with Chelsea midfielder Fleming pulling the strings. Two superb goals, with Bright scoring for England and Beckie replying for Canada. England centre back Millie Bright was named woman of tge match but the Canadian centre back Buchanan was equally impressive. Looking forward to now watching England play Spain on Sunday.
  5. Ex Bristol player Lauren Hemp has been superb.
  6. As long as the wind stays westerly then they will go that way and not in the direction of my house in Filton.
  7. It would have happened if we'd got Ashton Vale. SL told me so at an open day in response to a direct question I asked. But it doesn't bother me, I would continue to call it Ashton Gate anyway.
  8. Don't know if it's related because people want to see him, or because they're wondering who NP might promote next, but I've heard unconfirmed reports that tomorrow's U23 game against Swansea is a sell out.
  9. Dasilva may have won the ball but he also won't right through the man on the follow up and in the modern game that's a booking. As for Semenyo, Stroud made it very clear that it was for a number of fouls not just the one. I agree about Ntcham though.
  10. Consistently inconsistent. In truth I think Chris Martin has a genuine gripe about Stroud's performance today but the bookings we received were fair (if anything Swansea's Obafemi was unlucky for his) and his decisions had nothing to do with the 3 goals we conceded.
  11. I'd forgot about Dylan Kadji. I know a number of people think he'll be the next 'cab off the rank' to graduate from the academy to the 1st team squad.
  12. Nige may shock us all and bring in James Morton as DM.
  13. I guess it was Richard Forrester but I thought I heard Nige call him Ian. Of course if he did that could be deliberate. An old tactic to throw someone off their stride is to call them by the wrong name.
  14. I sympathise with him but living up to his surname may have been the way to go.
  15. I think the secrets out. There'll be interest of course but that doesn't necessarily mean bids, and if so they might not meet valuations or player expectations. In any event if you stick them in the U23s we might win that and raise their profile further.
  16. None of them. I'd be OK with selling Bentley (decent keepers are easy enough to find for not much money), Wells or, at a push, Kalas. There are better centre backs.
  17. Certainly more consistent than Matty James who may be an excellent midfielder but has been disappointing on set pieces.
  18. Derby will stay up. They're a more rounded team than Reading and have a lot more guile about them. The only player I really rate at Reading is Swift and they will need his football brain and skill if they are to run Derby close.
  19. I don't think Langford comes close to the worst we've had. We may not like the penalty awarded against Klose but he doesn't have the benefit of slow motion playbacks and its the sort that gets given 9 out of 10 times. I also don't have a major problem with the bookings. It could have been a lot worse as he didn't give Reading a second pen, or Kalas a second booking as he could of easily done. Pring was also a lucky boy as he left a high foot in on Yiadom first half. We won the game so let's let it go.
  20. Haven't we won the last couple when Stroud's been in charge? I've never thought him the worst ref, just consistently inconsistent. He's not a homer at least.
  21. I understand that Anderson and Broad cant go on forever and England need to learn to cope without them. Better overseas than in England too where Anderson particularly is more effective. Its the comments of Strauss though that I don't understand. To blame England's recent failures on the lack of quality batting but then leave out our best bowlers that could aid the batsmen gain confidence by setting up wins just seems bizarre. The reality is you don't win matches by scoring 1000 runs in a match but by taking 20 wickets.
  22. Didn't keep the clean sheet (no surprise there) but we hung on so it's OK (sort of). Hope the injuries are not too bad but doubt we'll see HNM at Swansea. Not sure if Williams picked up another knock. If so, at this rate James Morton might yet get a game.
  23. Totally agree. Apart from the one highlight (the goal) everything else was lowlights, losing HNM, two ****ked up short corners which failed to get a ball into the box, and in the first 43 minutes just one shot on target (Dasilva) against a 19 year old debutant goalkeeper. What odds on us keeping a clean sheet.
  24. Presume he picked it up limbo dancing on a beach somewhere.
  25. I think they should award the world cup to Scotland. How else are they going to qualify.
