  1. Aah the vagaries of the offside system. Look at the Ipswich equaliser against Wednesday. When Peacock Farrell throws the ball down unaware that Macauley Bonne is behind him, and nicks which leads to the goal, why is Bonne not offside having come from an offside position.
  2. I know yesterday's attendance was 19326 but did anyone hear the Fulham fans figure. The tannoy got drowned out where I was.
  3. Typical Kasey. Moments of absolute brilliance mixed with strolling about like he's playing football with his mates on a Caribbean beach. If Pearson can make him into a 90 minute player he will truly be a miracle worker.
  4. Williams definitely made a difference when he came on, in particular there were some tackles that were hard but in my opinion fair which the ref allowed but he would probably not got away with them a year ago. However I feel some of the criticism of Bakinson is unfair. He didn't have his best game in a City shirt but that happens with young players. There was an inference he didn't move us forward but my main complaint about Tyreeq is that he tries to play every ball forward when a simple sideways or backwards pass would be better.
  5. Like others I fully enjoyed that game. Mitrovic should have won for them but overall I thought a draw a fair result. Both sides went for it but there was some tremendous blocking and last ditch defending. For example, Tanner made some great challenges first half and the penalty box tackle by Antonee Robinson on Weimann was absolute class. Williams made a difference after coming on (as did Harrison Reed for them) and nice to see KC making a telling contribution. I know it's another home match without a win but 12 or 18 months ago having gone behind we'd have lost that game.
  6. Except for Blackpool perhaps. I can't think of a season when Blackpool's away kit has been anything other than white shirt and tangerine shorts, the reverse of their home kit.
  7. It would look even better if the further deduction of 9 points for FFP breaches was applied and it read minus 11.
  8. I thought it was a decent debut. 0verrun occasionally 1st half but he had little to no cover. One very good tackle towards the end of the game. Showed decent technique on the ball, mostly took the sensible defensive options and didn't get caught in possession. If he gains the confidence of Nige and he gets decent game time we may have found ourselves a right back.
  9. Not our best performance this season but far from our worst. Bentley and Massengo (again) outstanding. Bakinson played well and there was, a decent debut for Tanner despite the lack of cover he got in the first half. The subs Dasilva, Semenyo and Wells all made a impact, not the least when Semenyo and Wells linked superbly for the winner. Despite the moaning Minnie's around me we won so revel in that. Top class performances to go alongside wins can come later.
  10. I can remember when the Volley did that. When it was the Volley of course with the bar on the other side and flagstone floors rather than the plastic pub it's become.
  11. I used to like the Bell Inn at Alfred Place (think it may be called the Green Man now) but I haven't been there forca long time. The owners also used to run the Green Tree in Green St, Bath.
  12. Another decent performance but we laced a cutting edge. Our best efforts came from a run and shot by the outstanding Atkinson first half and from a crisp shot by the even more outstanding Massengo in the second. I thought we overplayed the long throw, we never looked like threatening Preston that way. And Preston posed a threat through the movement of Maguire and especially the clever passing of Johnson. Every time he was on the ball I worried. All in all not a dull 0-0 draw and, while disappointed we didn't win, I'll take the consolation prize of a clean sheet. Just 14 more of those to make us title contenders (according to Nige).
  13. Best performance of the season for me. This was a much more high intensity game than Reading, against a big physical side that we needed to stand up against. NP got it spot on with the team selection. Throughout we were faster to the ball than Cardiff and caused them some real problems running through the middle. In what was a tremendous team performance it seems churlish to pick anybody out but I thought Massengo, Pring and the front two of Martin and Weimann (with his two goals) were immense. Pring had the beating of his fullback while in the first half Han-Noah constantly hurried Curtis Nelson into errors. Not the biggest against the Cardiff giants Martin and Weimman used all their experience and nous to get the better of Flint and Morrison. James and King controlled the tempo, the back 4 were solid and Bentley did what was required. His own goal (against the run of play) was most unfortunate. A really good cameo from Semenyo, who replaced King, culminating in a superb assist for Weimann's classy second. Ref was decent I thought allowing proper challenges in a feisty derby. Great atmosphere and I look forward to tonight's highlights on Quest.
  14. Bad defeat for promotion certainties. Source: Joeys letter to the Memorial few. (book left out of the NT)
  15. I don't have a problem with a journalist writing an opinion but I do have a problem with being unprofessional. His scoring of NP, which does not appear to be the policy of the papervhe represents as its not applied to Barton at the SAGS, is, to use an Americanism, Busch League. There is a proud tradition of expert sports journalism in this country, even sometimes in the past at the Post, but GMcG falls miles short of such standards.
  16. Expect him to continue his feud until NP plays the system or players Gregor wants.
  17. Gutted. By and large we controlled the game, looked quite assured at the back and should have won easily. but while we played some delightful football we didn't get enough balls into the box and didn't test their shaky keeper anything like enough. Nevertheless a great improvement on the back end of last season. All the new boys played well, I particularly liked Atkinson's positioning and young Alex Scott put in a really good shift. We definitely lost something when he and Palmer went off. Understood the Scott substitution as he looked knackered at but Palmer's withdrawal seemed unnecessary to me. Disappointed to drop 2 points but we go again.
  18. Exactly that I think. The number you can have on the bench has reverted to pre Covid so no room.
  19. Presumably that's what they fielded at Melksham Town too which I understand ended in a 0-0 draw. Forest Green fielded two separate team for each half against Melksham and won 6-0.
  20. Aneurin Bevan launched the NHS from Park Hospital, Manchester.
  21. Only 2 decent things have come from Swindon: ¶ Justin Hayward (Moody Blues) ¶ Arkell's BBB
