On one of the gas forums, posters have said that one of the stewards couldn't speak English. Surely that would be a pre-requisite for a safety steward at a football match? Not that it has anything to do with the issues on Saturday but I find this hard to believe.

They're not used to seats mind. Probably thought they were barriers in between narrow strips of terracing.

That sounds more likely than the scenario I was told SSN. Plain stupidity again by the sounds of it. While the stewards look to have been very heavy handed, they were within their rights to refuse the moving of the netting as there was a large space on the other side of the allocated seating. Naughty horse worriers again.

They seem to be complaining that the net wasn't moved which is what I was told. I imagine the stewards told them to bugger off into the mass swathe of empty seats to their right. Maybe they don't know which way is right? Now I understand why the stewards didn't move the net, they didn't need to move the damn thing!

I do wonder why, when a fight starts, they think singing that awful dirge helps?

All joking aside, a gas supporting friend of mine was caught up in this and has ended up on crutches for a couple of weeks through no fault of his own. As he's a self employed plasterer, that's a real problem for him. I've been told there were not enough seats in the assigned area and that the stewards were telling people to sit down when there was nowhere to sit and it kicked off from there. They MAY be the innocent party for a change?

Puncture repair kit for the tent?

I don't disagree that any new stadium would see an increase, fair comment. My issue (yes, I was after a nibble, thanks for that) is that you can fill your 'shocking' stadium sometimes so what's the excuse for 8000 home fans for Northampton when you are near the top of the table? I have no idea what we averaged at the old Gate when we were near the top of L1 but it was a lot more than 8k. During the promotion season, with a reduced capacity and a ground which was a building site, we were sold out, for home tickets, at virtually every game and the ground was an absolute mess at the time. Swansea, Hull, Reading AND Wigan were promoted to the top table as their new grounds appeared, even you could probably sell out if that ever happened to you, we definitely would. As RRH asked, do you believe the UWE will still happen? Not having a dig, just interested.

We could always compare our away followings at Fulham, Newcastle and Villa? No, hang on, there's a problem with that! At least if we lose the replay, we get to play a Villa side without Kodjia.

They had 8424 for a very important league game. We had a paltry 10,301 for a cup game which didn't really get the pulses racing. I would hope we, at least, double that next week.

I assume he's probably working towards a job behind the cameras at some point and good luck to him as the experience will do him no harm. As said, he doesn't slag us off and some of his stuff is decent. It doesn't make his dad any less of a dick though. Good luck to Jake.
