I'm not sure having brief spells in the top flight in the last 30 years makes a club "not dull".

Reading are a dull club in a dull town with a dull stadium and could yet drop into the bottom division.

What we are, is the consistently most underperforming club in the land, given some of the advantages we should have.

maybe a brief spell in the top flight doesn't make you 'not dull', but it's the journey to get there and the promotion(s) before it that I envy...

I've had a season ticket 12 or 13 years and the highlight was promotion from L1 (and the cup run under LJ). One and a half seasons out of 12. Meh.

Which is quite impressive when margins are so fine, and the impact of dehydration on performance is well documented.

yep, I can't question anybodies religion, but I have been very worried about health when managing workers on site observing ramadan!!!

3 classic cup ties this weekend

    Drama and entertainment.

yep, for all their quality, I can't ever get too excited watching Man City... just like Pep's Barcelona. Bores me.

Liverpool were coasting. Klopp brought a fair few youngsters on for experienced pros and they seemed to lose their way. If i was a Liverpool fan i would be fuming with him.

yep, I can't understand making subs that weaken your team when you're 1 goal away from ET...

but I've just enjoyed a great game with over 50 shots... makes it all the harder watching Manning ball...

(but we won our cup final, we beat Southampton!)!

Three of the four quarter finals have been brilliant games with amazing finishes

Idiot scoring the winner is sent off and assume he'll miss the final now?

    miss the semi, won't he??

I could be wrong but aren`t Muslim professional athletes given special dispensation to eat/drink during Ramadan? I believe it was for health reasons.

yes they are, there are a number of reasons / allowances, but he has chosen to fast I believe. Refusing liquids even

  6. Salah off may cost Liverpool here, but understandable, heroic effort to play that well whilst fasting!!!

I remember I was supervising some drilling works out in Abu Dhabi during Ramadan, workers dropping like flies and sleeping in the shade under the machines, haha

Bruno Fernandes is absolutely pathetic. Talented footballer, but not hard to see why this Man U side lack so many of the basics like effort and fight with him as captain.

couldn't agree more... I know it's probably a British thing, in other countries play acting is seen as part and parcel of the game, but he has to be one of the most annoying, whiney footballers I can remember, and a shocking role model / captain...  I hate when England play Portugal, as there are 11 Brunos haha

  8. not sure I'm seeing some of the trends you point out tbh in those first 2 figures, to me it looks more like consistency has been lost and we are all over the place!

or it could be the beers...  the running net xG. is damning, though I do hate xG

Still find it impossible to believe we’re actually in any trouble. Too many teams need to make up points, we probably only need 6/7 points to be safe and whether we play well or badly there’s rarely many goals in our games which should see you come out on the right end of the result enough.

However, if we don’t get a result this weekend then we could definitely be in trouble after the Leicester game.

Utterly ridiculous this is even being thought and spoken about to be honest. What a self sabotage of a season.

it's mad. we probably only need 4 points over 10 games to be safe, but until we win again, and the teams below keep picking up points... what a mess.

Birmingham, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, and Millwall in their last three games have more points than we've gotten in 5. Doesn't bode well.

I got curious and decided to have a crack at a few predictions myself using a template and a spare five minutes with array formulae.

Did not like my pessimistic results - way too close for comfort.

had similar thoughts myself... if the form of the last 4 repeats over the next 4 we are almost in the bottom 3. We need a win ASAP...

  11. I think the number of teams below us will just about save us, BUT if you look at the last 4 results for ALL of the teams below us (ignoring Rotherham who are down!) they have ALL picked up a good number of points, and we are only 6 points (or less) ahead of them. If we lose the next 4 and they all pick up 4-6 points, we are right in it.

They are almost all on good little runs at the minute. We are within 6 pts of them all... I know they will play each other, etc, but this worries me. Last 4 games of the teams below us:

    City 0pts

    Swansea 7

    Plymouth 3

    Blackburn 3

    Millwall 7

    QPR 10

    Birmingham 4

    Hudddersfield 4

    Stoke 3

    Wednesday 12

Problem is that ST prices would shoot up for our season in the Prem, but upon relegation would not come down much, if at all.

they would be fine year 1 wouldn't they? unless we were romping the championship, no way they could charge silly prices in March without knowing we'd go up?

  13. I've only had a ST for 12 or 13 years, despite my age, but went a fair bit before that. I increasingly doubt I will ever enjoy a season as much as that Cotts year in L1...

getting spanked every week in the prem wouldn't be fun that's for sure, but hoping one year we put together a run in the Champ and get there, but even if I see another 30 seasons I've no confidence it'll happen!!
