  1. More good than bad, but the bad has been BAD (Birmingham (H), Stoke (H), tonight pre TC). Defense has been tighter than in previous years (even on Saturday we only faced 4 shots on target, we just let most of them in). Attack growing into the season nicely. New players bedding in well. Injuries and refs continue to hurt us, but that’s football… we do go get it bad though. Overall - B.
  2. Heart says start him against Leeds, head says keep him on ice as the international break is just around the corner. Another 15 min cameo at most. Sadly, I think the head has to win out this time.
  3. Fair point, so the Blackett injury only really evened the playing field!
  4. Taking a (brief!) moment away from tonight’s jubilation, I see Preston are reverting to type. After a shockingly strong start, they’ve lost 2 on the spin by a 7-0 aggregate scoreline. I thought I was losing the plot when they were winning every week.
  5. On the topic of the ref, it makes the win all the more sweet when we beat 12 men. Oh course, I’d prefer a competent/unbiased ref every day of the week, but it’s lovely when we win in spite of them.
  6. Nights like these! Our second winner of the season in stoppage-time, it’s some feeling. Tommy Conway… I don’t want to go too overboard but John Atyeo is looking down a little nervous No new knocks. Injured: Tanner Vyner Atkinson McCrorie Benarous
  7. We’ll have to go up this season then. I’m feeling good tonight.
  8. Buying defenders who’ve shown they can do it, but had a slow year, is a bit of a magic formula for us. Wasn’t that how we got Webster on the cheap? Injuries and poor form?
  9. Me and my pops almost knocked the house out of its foundations. Conway has written a Hollywood script tonight. Words fail me for that boy. What a striker.
  10. Knight has taken the plaudits (no harm in that - been fabulous this season) but Dickie is a phenomenal bit of business. Liked it a lot as soon as I saw the first rumour.
  11. I feel like I may actually be in love with him
  12. Tanner doesn’t pass the fitness test and is therefore the one player to leave the MD20 from Saturday, with Nelson returning to the bench in his stead. Big win tonight please. Put the back to back losses truly behind us. Injured: Tanner Vyner Atkinson McCrorie Benarous

    Sam Bell

Excellent news. Brilliant young player and person.
  14. I wouldn’t look too deep at it. There is one rule that seemingly comes first and foremost - no penalties for Bristol City. The stats show this is no coincidence!

    Naismith

He’s a change I’d make for Rotherham. We’re all about ‘keeping the shirt’ and squad players are told to stay on their toes as their opportunity will come. Naismith, a great player, has made two expensive mistakes in our last two games. After a 2-0 up, to 3-2 loss, against a pretty poor Stoke team, I think we have to give some other players opportunities on Wednesday. I’d bring Roberts in at LCB and Weimann into the midfield, with Knight playing just a little deeper. Naismith and Williams out. Rotherham are poor, we don’t need two sitting midfielders. Ideally we could bring an actual centre-half in for Kal, but barring the kids we don’t have any more. I understand Roberts has experience in that role.
  16. Most painful result in some time. Just changes the whole feel-good factor around the season ahead. The Vyner injury… could we be saying ‘what could have been’.
  17. Yeboah is an uncut gem, needs a loan to develop some aspects of his game a little. I rate all the players we brought on - but I’m not sure the whole front line needed changing in one swoop.
  18. Coming into this, everything looked in our favour. Should have known there would only be one outcome. Tanner potentially with a knock, but seemed to play through it. Injured: Vyner Atkinson McCrorie Benarous
  19. Unchanged XI and just one change to the MD20 as TC is back! He takes Nelson’s bench spot, excellent to see him on a team sheet, and a little sooner than expected. Hopeful for today, come on boys ️ Injured: Vyner Atkinson McCrorie Benarous
  20. It does point toward the squad getting a massive boost about midway through the season, ready for a real assault on the upper reaches of the table. Exciting times ahead hopefully. I'm still taking the Vyner and Conway news yesterday with a pinch of salt, we've been burned too many times before! Once they're back on a teamsheet - happy days.
  21. Wow, I'd seen bits and bobs on Twitter but this post filled in a lot of the gaps. What a bloody mess!
  22. For me that’s a measure of support rather than club size. But club size is so open ended as a term, it’s very open to individual interpretation so there’s no real right or wrong. One thing we can all agree on is we are a well supported club, which beggars belief based on some recent seasons
  23. For me, honours is the first and foremost metric in the ‘club size’ debate. That’s what this is all about after all, winning things. But all the metrics you’ve mentioned do also play a role, just to a lesser extent imo.
  24. Well the dream once you’ve won something is to win it again. Teams are always winning trophies, always getting ahead of your club. We’ve won League 1 four times, if we found ourselves down there again god forbid I’d still be desperate for number 5 and nervous before all the games.
  25. Always hurts to lose and the players looked hurt at the end, but a pretty Herculean defensive effort. Bloody penalties will never be our friend will they. Still, 8th as the dust settles. Good place to be. Injured: Vyner Atkinson McCrorie Benarous Conway
