  1. We can only hope they'll play for us. We need to get our support right the next few weeks/months, back the players, bemoan the board. The lads on the pitch have fought tooth and nail for the Robin on their chest this season, we need to show them we recognise that and how much we appreciate them. I'll be there on Saturday, backing the boys.
  2. The solution is having an owner with the stomach to hire a manager and trust his expertise. He’s a roadblock to our success at this point. No idea re selling the club, but I’m sure buyers are out there. I concur on not wanting to be state owned, and certainly not by a state with sketchy human rights records.
  3. I too feel sorry for Luton and Burnley, the memories they made last season marching to the title and winning promotion at Wembley respectively will surely haunt those fans forever. And now they have to suffer away days at Anfield and the Emirates, battling together to try and survive. Then if they do go down, only a few hundred million in parachute payments to secure the club and try to get promoted again. Why on earth wouldn’t we clamour for that? Why follow a club if you don’t believe they can win something? I agree promotion feels a way off right now, but just accepting the ups and downs of the Championship and existing in a never ending purgatory at this level? I’d rather go down and climb back up then stagnate forever.
  4. Between the massive fan backlash, the outpouring of player love for Nige and now national coverage of City’s shortcomings, the Lansdown’s have nowhere to hide. Even they can’t get their heads that deep in the sand.
  5. I would honestly go King or Fleming until Christmas. A new manager right now would be drinking from a poisoned chalice - coming into a team where the fans want the old manager back and the squad is in tatters. They'll likely get off to a bad start, and fans could turn quick. Anyone coming in now, certainly from the above list, seems doomed to fail.
  6. No, we don’t. We’ll scrap the odd point during this injury hit period, before re-finding our stride when we have a squad again. I will say this - if we do manage to get relegated, we’ll have the greatest League 1 squad ever assembled. I accept some players will be picked off, but between those that are left and the ability to buy up the best League 1 talent due to our stature down there and the money we have, we’d go 100+ points. I’m almost taking myself into it.
  7. What a situation for the new man to walk into… reason #754 sacking Pearson was a terrible decision.
  8. True but I’ll forewarn you now, guessing ‘return’ dates is like trying to shoot bats blindfolded. The club are reticent to give timeframes and when they do, they’re often miles out.
  9. We have so few players at present whoever it is will need a strong stomach as the first few months will be very challenging. Maybe we need to play on that, get an ‘us against the world’ type manager. Enter, Neil Warnock.
  10. This is my main thought right now, and well put. Lansdown has now said these 13 fit players have to get promoted or it’s failure. No pressure to the newbie. I really hope - for the new managers sake - he isn’t appointed until the international break in a fortnights time. At least by then he’ll have some semblance of a squad to use.
  11. Fab work Nige, we were going in one direction when you arrived and it wasn’t a good one. I now feel we’re moving in the right direction (barring the shocking decision to fire you). The fans don’t want this and you’ll be remembered for all the good you did.
  12. Special, special player. One of those players where I usually think ‘man why can’t he be English…’ but this time he is! The gem in the crown of a good crop of English talent. We’re winning next summer.
  13. ANY new manager coming in now with 13 first team players ready would make a horrible start (through no fault of their own). Pearson is in the building and knows exactly what we’re up against. He’s also got us in a decent position in the table (or did have, until the injury plague). Anti-Landown sentiment is the most I’ve ever known it, amongst the fanbase and myself. Firing Pearson would take it to fever pitch.
  14. I only have theories, like everyone else. I’d like the club to speak on it.
  15. Cornick and Joe James both hobbling late in the game, but I’m reticent to add them to the list as I believe posts have a character limit. We go again next season. Injured: McCrorie Tanner Vyner Atkinson Naismith Roberts King James Williams Benarous Wells
  16. They’ve killed our league season I’m afraid. We’ll drop too many points before we have a squad again to have a crack at the top 6. Another year down the loo.
  17. Presented without comment. Injured: McCrorie Tanner Vyner Atkinson Naismith Roberts King James Williams Benarous Wells
  18. You know the head tennis they do in Robins Uncut? I’ve heard rumours the winning team gets to throw bricks at the losing team and that’s behind a lot of our injuries. No idea what’s going on here, we had an injury crisis a few years back the likes of which I thought we would never see again. 2 years later and we’re replicating it. I love this club but today is likely to be the first of a number of quite embarrassing ones for us. Brace yourselves.
  19. Two games in 4 weeks after this, which is so ideal for us given our thin squad. If we can pick up the three points tomorrow, then have players start to gradually return for upcoming matches, the feel-good amongst the fans and players would be palpable. Severnside derby, 10 injuries, manager under (unfair) pressure… I’m nervous as hell but if we do them - what a weekend we’ll have in store. COYR ️
  20. I’ve been racking my brains as many have and came to the same conclusion, it’ll have to be an academy player alongside Dickie. We can’t take James out of his midfield role, he’s too important, and I’d like to keep Pring at LB. If Roberts is fit, I’d put him alongside Dickie. I think I’d stick with Skyes at RB as I’m enjoying TGH in midfield and Sykes positioning defensively has been sound. So I’m looking at (433): O’Leary; Sykes, Dickie, Idehen, Pring; James, TGH, Knight; Weimann, Conway, Bell. After tomorrow, we have a week before our next game, then another week before our next, then an international break. Perfect for us to allow some to come back. If we can start this thin run of fixtures with a Severnside win, that would be amazing and a credit to the lads who go out there tomorrow. COYR.
  21. If he wasn’t on crutches I think he’d have played by now. Wait - should I add him to the list?!
  22. My main takeaway from tonight is my dreams are fading for another season… but for such a different reason to normal. Usually by now we’ve shown we’re not a realistic play-off hopeful, but that’s not it this year. I believe in this manager and I believe in this set of players. Reel off our best Matchday 20 in your head and you’ll realise we’ve built a gritty, talented squad who will fight for us tooth and nail. All that’s killed us is depth. My frustrations are not with Nige or the players at all. I don’t know why we have 10 injuries. But I believe if we didn’t, we’d be a frightening team for most opposition.
  23. Just heard the interview. My goodness. Double figures in a squad of what, 23? Madness. Injured: McCrorie Tanner Vyner Atkinson Naismith Roberts King Williams Benarous Wells
  24. Hope Lansdown’s enjoying his nest-egg. A new injury means this is not an injury crisis anymore, it’s a catastrophe. Saturdays line up is anyones guess. Surely the points we’ll lose while 9 (******* 9) first team players are out, means our dreams of the play-offs go for another year. Injured: McCrorie Tanner Vyner Atkinson Naismith King Williams Benarous Wells
  25. The same 20 faces tonight as Saturday, so no new returns. But no new injuries either, which is nice to be able to say! Injured: McCrorie Tanner Vyner Atkinson Naismith Williams Benarous Wells
