  1. Couldn't sleep last night wondering what the fanbase made of the importance of baby showers, big relief finding this thread this morning!
  2. Tough game, especially with the added pressure of one point from the previous 9 available. But take our chances and stop gifting soft goals and we can beat anyone in the league, so all is not lost.
  3. Be aware Miah, City will be offering you a contract in January.
  4. Can’t wait for the day they’re relegated
  5. Any of our financially savvy posters know if Stoke are near any FFP troubles? They seem to like to spend and surely can’t be parachute anymore.
  6. No new injuries to my knowledge. Maybe Sykes? Truly bizarre sub if not given he’s our most creative player and we were creating nowt. Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts King Benarous Wells
  7. The fact that the Lansdown’s actively chose another 2 year transition is depressing me so much.
  8. Fair play to the people feeling positive after that. After we equalised we made nothing for nearly an hour. Not sure what’s happened to our attack but it isn’t good. 1 point from 9… it’s season over isn’t it? We’re not going up or down.
  9. I had a lot to say last weekend as all the frustration of the NP sacking came to a head for me. But as I’ve said a million times, none of it is Manning’s fault. So I’m gonna just get behind this now. It’s an… interesting lineup but I’ll stick my neck out and say, it feels like whenever a team sheet goes out the fans don’t like we play a blinder. No new injuries, no new returns. COYR. Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts King Benarous Wells
  10. It's interesting to consider League 1 in this conversation as well. We've won the 3rd division title 4 times, so when we're down there I think there's an element of 'healthy arrogance' (a Manning phrase) amongst the fanbase. A confidence that we'll get results, beat teams near the top of the table, win games when playing poorly and ultimately get promoted. The question is, how do we feign this confidence in the Championship! I joked after Sunday I want another League 1 tour (and it was a joke, I don't fancy getting relegated!), but the joke was founded on the fact that I believe if/when we do next get relegated however many years from now, we'll be back up in a season or two maybe with an EFL Trophy on the shelf (won three previous). We have the 'know-how' down there that the clubs mentioned by OP have at this level.
  11. Very true Pop, Swansea did slip my mind. The brain does hold the bad memories tighter doesn't it
  12. I think that's a really good post. I've often felt like City one day breaking the top flight is impossible (even though it factually isn't). I think about it in the same way I think about a lottery win or something, really fun to think about and dream about but not something I believe will come to fruition. I wonder if that mentality has seeped into the club over time. I've said so many times of late (past 5 years or so), City hate being in the lead. At 0-0 we often find ourselves well in games. Sometimes we'll go behind and the freedom of that leads to us playing much nicer, braver football. But when we actually take the lead, I don't feel like we're then more likely to win as stupid as it sounds. What I said at HT against Norwich, and heard many others say, was 'we need a second, Tommy's miss will bite us'. And so it was. We led Stoke at HT and lost. Led PNE at HT and drew. Led Boro at HT 2-0 and were level on 51 minutes (but won, granted). Of course there's exceptions to the rule, but we are often near the top for 'points dropped when winning' iirc. I think at AG and perhaps even in the minds of some staff and players, winning/being promoted feels like a dream and not a realistic aim, and the self-fulfilling prophecy does the rest.
  13. It's about keeping the owners honest. You can't say 'X was sacked for not being in the top 6' then pat Y on the back for finishing 9th. A lot of this rubbish would have been avoided if the Lansdown's were more open in their reasons for dismissing Nige, professional differences. Hiding it behind a thin lie was silly, hiding it behind the 'top 6 squad' comment was doomed for failure.
  14. Out of curiosity GR, where will we be at the end of the season to make the 'bed wetting Karens' backtrack?
  15. I ticked 'highly unlikely' on the off chance that one of the Lansdown's looks at the results of the poll. Hopefully lots of no's will scare them into making better decisions... But of course I will. It makes me bloody miserable at times but I'm in this now. CTID and all that.
  16. We won’t go down this year, we’re in every game we play. It’s always close and enough will swing in our favour. I do fear that it’ll be another season with bugger all to play for after February.
  17. Lansclown dictatorship is doing the impossible - making me dislike football. Never felt so disconnected.
  18. The frustration isn’t REALLY on Manning, it’s on the ownership for forcing us through another transition when we really didn’t need one. Whoever came in was drinking from a poisoned chalice. Nige had patience in his early tenure as 1) he took over a shit show and 2) he was a well known and respected manager who came in to save us. Sacking Pearson was dumb and will have long lasting repercussions - as many of us suspected.

    ENJOYMENT

I enjoyed it up until their equaliser. I’m always happy when we’re winning. And utterly desolate when we lose.
  20. Winning most weeks, Wembley trip for the EFL Trophy, league title. I am so done with the bloody Championship after 9 seasons, my little heart can’t take it
  21. I’m struggling a bit with all this since Nige was sacked so unjustly. Hard to get behind it all. Ah well. Life isn’t just football I guess! Vyner seemed to hobble after a sprint but played on. Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts King Benarous Wells
  22. Manning under serious pressure - we sacked Nige for not being in top 6. Unless JL was lying of course.
  23. Naismith is indeed out as we knew - Pring is back as we also knew. We name one more sub than on Wednesday as Meerholz takes a spot on the bench. COYR ️ Injured: McCrorie Atkinson Naismith Roberts King Benarous Wells
  24. No need to go too crazy over this one imo. They’re a team littered with Prem experience and quality. And we’re some poor finishing away from a positive result against said Prem quality. Early days under LM but good signs.

    Forwards

Struggling this season aren’t they? Really good set of options on paper but just not happening for any of them. Bell is anonymous when on the pitch of late, and Conway is really struggling to find his killer instinct from last season. Mehmeti can also really struggle to get into games. You’d be forgiven for not realising when Weimann has come on! I’d say Sykes and Cornick are the the ones whose levels have more or less held from last season, and I’d be giving Cornick a start on Sunday. I wonder - does Wells bring out the best from those around him? I think we miss him more than some realise.
