  1. You’re not one for the rehabilitation of offenders then? I think a number of City players have had criminaI convictions over the years, some involving assault. Would you have advocated the sacking of Bradley Orr and Steve Brooker?
  2. Am I one of the few who is really rather relieved by this? Apart from the fact that he’s 29 and has done very little since that playoff final, I’m very happy with Cam Pring who I think has the potential to be a better player than Joe Bryan.
  3. Oh I don’t know. Robins can be aggressive little b*ggers.
  4. …and of course he tells the ‘Remember the Alamo’ joke in The Slaughtered Lamb pub in An American Werewolf in London.
  5. Brian Glover the geezer trying to spoil their day. When he died, the Guardian obituary said he died of a Brian Tumour...
  6. I hope he gets picked. It would be a Nice surprise for him… Frankly, I don’t believe you.
  7. Relative to the size and prosperity of the city, I would think that was very likely to be true.
  8. Whichever way you slice it, for a city like Bristol to have not had a top division for over 40 years is shocking. Preston is a one-horse town compared to Bristol. People were talking about this even before we got into the old first division - remember, we’ve only been in the top division for four of the last hundred years. Shocking really.
  9. For a joke, they haven’t done that badly in the last few years…
  10. Most comedy is of its age, but good humour is good humour, whatever the age. The Marx Brothers can make me cry with laughter and they’re nearly 100 years old. I still think The Fast Show is pretty much as funny as when it was first shown, and I never get bored with Men Behaving Badly. Python has its racist/sexist moments by today’s standards, and it was always hit and miss even at the time, but the hits are still sublime.
  11. I’ve watched it on and off for 20 years and I watched the final episode this morning and still found it amusing, as did my 14-year-old son. I think it still did a job, and could have continued. I hope that what they replace it with isn’t more men around a table arguing about who supports the best team.
  12. Amazing stat on Sky soccer this morning: Coventry have only spent 19 days in the top six all season, fewer than Reading who were relegated.
  13. Shane they weren’t in the pool with their arms aloft. It would have made “we will never die” even more ironic.
  14. Brilliant stuff from Jack Hunt. I’ve never seen someone look so relaxed before, during and after a critical penalty. Chewing casually throughout. What a guy!
  15. Albatross … Fleetwood Mac (it’s a Coleridge thing…)
  16. A Saucerful of Secrets … Pink Floyd
  17. Clearing out my loft, I’ve found a box containing a random mix of programmes and One Team in Bristol mags, some going back to the 80s. Anyone who wants them is very welcome to come and collect from me in Bath. No payment required. If you’re interested, PM me.
  18. Swings & Roundabouts … Elecampane
