I think football is still adjusting to the effects of Covid, but its this coming season that does concern me.

With five of the Saturday 3pm Championship games being moved for live television coverage

I can see less season tickets and match day ticket sales be purchased.

I still think that the five live planned games will all be kicking off at 12:30pm on saturday

I might find out a little more when I attend the ITV AGM meeting this coming Thursday

I think Davefevs worked out there will only be 13 Saturday 3pm home games next season. That could be reduced further If Cardiff and Swansea are moved.

    £4m signing / half way through a 4 year deal so £2m.

Thanks, Dave. I thought that would be a rough guesstimate. As I said before, I wouldn't be paying more than that. £5 million  is taking  the Michael.

Any idea what he is worth in Burnleys 'books' (amortisation value).

Seems like he has 2 years left on his contract, but what was the length of his contract and how much did he cost, initially.

Anything over that value imo we should walk away.

You are totally allowed to have those opinions, but then it’s all about balance.

You’re a constant presence on match day threads, post match threads etc when we’ve lost or played poorly. For comparison, you made 18 posts during and after the Sunderland game, commenting on how poor we were (which was deserved) but then made 4 during and after Blackburn, none of which were positive, because you struggled to find anything to use against Manning.

It’s all well and good talking about other people’s narrative whilst not realise how strong yours is. If you were more balanced and capable of supporting us when we do well as well as when we are crap then you wouldn’t receive some of the reactions you get

Surely if the team play well and  win then that is the bare minimum metric. Fewer people will have something to say or praise because that is the expected outcome. Fall below that even a win playing boring football is going to draw more comments and an amount of criticism.

The balance you refer to isn't as simple as win / lose = similar amount of praise  / criticism.

Looking forward to 3 points today to take us above last years total including the highest league position in years, fewer goals conceded and improving moving into next season.

    Lets go, COYRS

5 years ago we finished 8th and 4 years ago 12th.......so by years you mean a few.

I think the bittersweet element here is that if we, by some minor miracle, finish top 6 next season, then the board could argue that they were justified in bringing in Manning when they did and managing the budget how they did.

Strange. You've been banging on since October that you had no expectations above mid table and now talk about top 6 with a very similar squad. Major miracle needed, not minor.

It will be interesting to see how many POTD tickets are available for sale in the SS for the first match of the season - I presume that will be the first time we will know how many SS ticket holders have not renewed/have moved to the family stand.

Not sure the first march will be a great barometer. Early August, people still on holiday, match will be live on Sky.

I guess the club could boost numbers by making it a Mates Rates game.

Considering we've just gone 6 unbeaten, it would suggest that we are heading in the right direction. There is an absurd amount of fart in this thread. It properly stinks of embarrassment, and trying to grasp at things to have a moan at, which is mental considering recent results and direction we're heading.  Tins, or whoever it was, has made the right decision at the time of writing, whether you like it or not.

We can't do anything about the past, so why are we continually obsessing over it? We can't change it by repeating the same storyline over and over and over and over again....

I'm excited for next season. I'm excited in the direction we are heading, and I'm feeling positive about it.

    COYR'S

I think what you're getting at is known as recency bias.

Come off it Dave, this is 9 pages of discussion about a loan player that hasn't worked out ultimately. Where is the 9 page topic about the rest of our recruitment this season. Like I said to Silvio, this is likely our best window in a very long time however we constantly focus on negatives like this. It's pretty inconsequential and just seems like a repetitive way of bashing the

How on earth is the business done in January better than what we did last summer.

Sales confirmed as over 12k, there's not the impact so far

That's incorrect, it's already been confirmed that when the fixture list is released it'll show all the TV slots up to FA Cup 3rd round weekend

So basically up to the New Year's Day round of fixtures

Marshall clearly stated 8000 (appreciate  thhat was a week ago)

Where are you getting 12000 confirmed from ?

He's still ours until the end of next season, so he's going for a fee if he leaves.  That being said we still have 14 months left to get him pension to paper so maybe he just wants to look at his options over the summer.

What do you think he's worth in the last year of his contract ?

    £3 million tops.

Personally would keep him and let his contract run down. It will cost that to replace him, with transfer fee, wages, agent fees

    I've not renewed ours.

Nor me. Really haven't enjoyed it since before Christmas. 4 hour round trip, getting home at either 7.30 pm or midnight.

Will still go to a few games home and away.

Also interested to see how the new tv schedule pans out. Our first home game will be televised so will watch with interest.

It could be that he’s proven in training to be an absolute wizard of a player. We told him to play carp in his last match and now we’re not playing him as part of a cunning plan to drive the transfer fee down. To keep the player’s spirits up during this ‘withdrawn’ period we treat him to days out sitting on the bench.

Alternatively, he’s not very good and the work experience analyst who recommended him has been sacked.

    Hopefully, the former.

Thought Manning said that he had scouted him extensively. Unfortunately the work experience analyst is still Head Coach.

Will renew me old man's card tomorrow. Still undecided about mine though.

Just find the atmosphere to be so poor. Obviously performances play a part, but even when things are decent our atmosphere isn't great for the most part.

This new entitled culture of booing your team off when losing at half time or full time no matter who you're playing, really irks me too.

Got to a point where I'm finding it more depressing being at the footy, than not.

I think the booing has been directed more at the management and board than the players.

Do what? What would have impressed you in any manager having to take over a Pearson (basket) case 6 months ago? The summer will go well because the club (ie owners & senior, respected managers will back Liam) so you have no reason to have a bad feeling. And what the hell do you mean by regression? Since when, since Cotts or since Johnson? There has been zero regression since Pearson lef; the players are happier, the cup run, we beat or draw with top teams, we smash poor teams etc etc - sometimes the negativity of you (and others) posts is simply baffling. What regression can you possibly mean?

Smash the poor teams. You mean like beating Plymouth 4-1 when Pearson (basket case) was manager.

You must have been hiding behind the sofa that night.

Strange how so many of us on here are renewing a football season ticket DESPITE the football not because of it

And yet after the first few games next season people will be on here moaning about how dull the football is. (That's what you signed up for remember).

    Not you personally MM.

I'm going to wait and see. Yes, I will lose my seat in the SS but I honestly can't take any more of the tedious football being  played.

Will still pick a few away games to go to, as I do enjoy a weekend away. If the boring football is gone or the perpetrator of it, I will probably get a half season ticket.

I am aware that you cant always take a lot from pre-season friendlies, we have seen many times in the prem, a team pre-season looks outstanding scoring for fun then when the season starts they are awful, so i get that point.

However, in our situation i am really hoping we make the most of pre-season friendlies and take on some real quality teams, maybe quite out of our comfort zone.

The reason for this is because i still don't think Manning has got to grips with different styles of play at this level, having a decent Plan B, and how to approach different style teams, i think the friendlies could be really valuable in getting some great experience and maybe test a few things.

Basically i don't want to see pre-season friendlies with the likes of forest green rovers or standard liege, I would like to see Manning make real use of the opportunity to fine tune his tactics against decent opposition with quality players.

I guess there is also a balance of you don't want to get battered pre-season and go into the season de-motivated.

Not sure if people agree, or how they see pre-season friendlies?

Don't get too excited but Manning will be pitting his tactical nous against the mighty Aldershot.
