If we want to improve as a team, Kalas is the type of player we want to retain. He's absolutely class at this level, and that really can't be leveled at the rest of the team (in the main). FFP is always a concern, but to want him away to 'free wages' will just excerbate the decline under us. If he wants to stay, we should be trying to keep him

You know if you fold a dollar bill in a certain way it depicts the twin towers on fire ?...a coincidence...I think not ? Whatever you do, don't listen to Stairway to Heaven backwards...unless you want to be a real truther

I am confident games are now being stopped whereas they didn't used to be (in the main). Until last season, I don't remember ever watching a game of football where the game was stopped for a medical emergency in the crowd (I'm in my thirties), so a fair amount of time. COVID aside, you must get close to a million people watching football in-person each week, from a wide range of age ranges, and lets face it, probably not always from the most 'heart healthy' demographic. So you can't tell me there were never medical emergencies before the last two years, and now there are. I'm sure it's a change of approach.

To claim that women would never get a punditry job on merit, but through 'wokism' is absolutely laughable in an industry where countless male ex-pros who can barely string a sentence together get gig after gig. I've seen some absolute shocking pundits over the last 18 months or so, and not one of them was a woman. Sure, Karen Carney is a pretty dull, middle of the road pundit, but then so is Danny Murphy, Alan Shearer, Michael Owen...the list goes on. Anyway, we all know Pat Nevin is the best football pundit out there. No need for discussion!

They were all at it tonight. Even the ball boys. Quality

It seems the common consensus is TQ is a bit cr*p. I tend to disagree, being sloppy with possession is endemic in this team, I don't really see him making anymore mistakes than most, but for some reason it seems to be picked up a lot more when he does it. HNM, for example, can be just as sloppy, and also shows the same tactical naivety as TQ, but as he's our Wonderboy, gets a lot less stick (disclaimer, I love HNM). Think the guy actually makes a lot happen with his passing, and today he's actually started one or two attacks with balls out to COD and Andi -

I have to say, I am looking forward to having Antonie back
-
To be fair, he's recovered a bit with his answers. As said, I don't believe the rumours, but that was an unconvincing start to the interview, maybe it was nerves, but there was a vagueness and 'i don't really know what I'm talking about' vibe to his answers
-
I'm not saying the initial rumours are remotely true. But I'm struggling to grasp what the point of this interview is... He's not saying anything
-
This is weird. They asked for the radio interview, but have come on and given slightly vague responses to whether Nige continues in the role?

Maybe Robbored started it. Took inspiration from the Reichstag fire and went for the False Flag approach

Playing the hypothetical game presented by your starting 11. The departures of Pack and Ayling made very little sense. Especially Pack.

Bar Atkinson, Kalas, Baker and Tanner (and occasionaly James) our players are regularly out-muscled and on the losing side of fifty-fifties and loose balls. For a team that can't pass the ball around very well, we don't seem to be able to counter-balance this with an ability to collect and utilise loose balls, and seem to rarely turn the ball over in the middle third. J.Williams could be a partial solution to this if ever fit (James tries his best but I don't think is industrious enough to truly play a disruptor type role). We are also woefully short of pace, against Birmingham it was actually mind-boggling, it looked like players were running through treacle, against the likes of Harlee Dean and Gary Gardener ffs (not exactly known for their pace). I think Semenyo can help with this, when fit, but I would be prioritising a loan forward with pace in January. As Fevs said above, we press very inefficiently too. It was mentioned on Sky a couple of times - we so rarely double up on players - I can only presume this is through fear of gaps opening up elsewhere. We also seem to have problems with shape (with and without the ball worryingly), but especially with the ball when moving into the opposition half - too narrow, and the lack of a ball carrier in the middle of the pitch (this could be HNM, but positional indiscipline tends to see him in all sorts of strange place when we turnover posession). How you resolve all the above - no idea!
-
Thanks Mr P, Fevs etc. for continued insight into FFP. Last night was woeful, not only is the squad lacking in quality, but it is evidently far too light. With injuries as they are, and with some players evidently not trusted by Nige, the lack of options off the bench was scary really. For all the talk of the ineffectiveness of loan options, Nige has to try and get at least 2 in January - it might be a bit punty, but needs must I think. We lack in a lot of areas currently, but one thing that I believe can be easier to find in young loan players is pace, and it is something we seem to lack in spades.

Jeff Stelling - leaving Soccer Saturday end of the season
underhanded replied to Selred's topic in Football Chat
I'm not a psychologist, but getting angry about a hypothetical 'PC' replacement for a broadcaster on what is a pretty mundane sports news show seems like a pretty weird flex for what was most people's Saturday evening. Also find it very funny to see comments about 'appointment on merit' in regards to a show that has Paul Merson as a pundit. Ha!
