  1. Looking for one as well if anyone has one!
  2. Martin excels at what I like to call the 'wall pass' - when you ping one in to a players feet and they flick it 3-4 yards at a variety of angles to a supporting player in close vicinity (see Giroud for someone who does this VERY well). The problem is, he's too isolated, and the quality of ball into him isn't good enough, for these to be pulled off successfuly.
  3. In a previous job I got sight of quite a lot of sport scientist/first team coach salaries in the football league, and I can assure you most aren't paid as much as the mooted figures in that Post article. I've also got a friend who has been part of championship coaching setup's for years (working part time, whilst also holding down another full time job), and he literally couldn't afford to take on the job full time as the salary was so low. The salaries of the majority of non-playing staff is scandalous compared to how much the players get paid
  4. Could the mods make 'wild speculation and rumour' part of the swear filter? It'd be nice not to see that interminable phrase bandied around for the 1000th time
  5. After the Scott trip I was shouting (bizzarely, admittedly, but watching Citah will do that to you) 'card him then!' at the ref. I don't get it, the dynamics of that challenge meant it's either a pen or he thinks Scott dived, I can't possibly see how it could be viewed any other way. For that alone it was absolutely shocking refereeing. In regards to the goal analysed above, it's a collective issue but ultimately I think it's on Bakes. The angle of the run combined with distancve to goal means he doesn't, under any circumstance, have to dive in there.
  6. I think you've already said it. Bakinson, COD, Palmer. I think Nige would go for them rather than Jay.
  7. Whilst I don't think this will be remotely possible, I can sort of see what you're getting at. Jay does sometimes seem wasted at left back, it seems the parts of the game needed for that position are things he doesn't have in abundance. He was the only player on Tuesday night that I had any confidence in when receiving a pinged pass or with a man touch tight...he does have a nack of keeping holding of the ball, turning, and opening up play. Whether that would translate into an ability to play in the middle is something I don't think we'll ever see. I'd like to see him and Pring playing in tandem on the left tbh
  8. From what I saw all involved looked about 16. Lots of meer-cat dancing in front of each other with very little actual fighting - classic
  9. It's Brazilian. I wonder if some Corinthian fans from Brazil decided to commentate the game due to the name connection between the two clubs? Football fans are weird!
  10. DId the celebration take significantly longer than Kasey's? I don't really remember thinking the Fulham players celebrated for any longer than usual. Teams very regularly spend 30 secs or so going mental in front of their fans - I think it's nearly always down to being happy they've scored a goal. Think you're seeing supposed gamemenship where there isn't any, to be honest Teams
  11. Clyde Arms up in Redland is a good pub. Matchdays - pint in the Packet before the game.
  12. With the shower of sh*t the men's team have served up in the last 8 months, it's not as if there's much to shout about elsewhere
  13. Why is no one going out to meet that looped ball in. Fella punted it in the air and everyone just watches if fall onto the FGR players head unopposed? FFS
  14. Nagy playing is a very interesting one. Is it to be in the shop window? (most likely) Clearly he hasn't thrown his toys out the pram, as he wouldnt' get selected? If no offers, would he be in the equation for the rest of the season? Has something changed since Saturday? (I don't think so, but Nige's comments do seem to contradict selection this eve)
  15. Seemingly the majority of their fans think he's a great owner. Don't worry a vegan pie isn't as scary as you think it is
  16. haha, yeah I'm sure it's enjoyed by all ages, I guess it's got a little less of the 'grumbling old boy moaning at the bar' vibe that I thought the OP might be after ?
  17. I think it's class. OSIB's definately my favourite of the city podcasts. I've always thought podcasts are fairly intimate forms of entertainment, if you regularly listen to one you undoubtedly feel like you know the people on it - which is why they can be a bit chalk and cheese to most. It could also be a generational thing, I think OSIB probably appeals to the younger fan more so than the others (as a sweeping generalisation)
  18. Careful...with that sort of in-depth and nuanced analysis you're bound to be headhunted by Mark Ashton into the city scouting setup soon enough
  19. I am certainly taking the current situation seriously, and and under no illusion that this crisis is a once in a lifetime situation that will see at least the following several months being new, extremely hard and ultimately testing times for us all. I do however, feel that certain posters on this thread do need to consider some of the things they are saying. Perhaps we have no responsbility to anyones mental health and wellbeing, but there are going to be plenty of people reading this forum who are very scared and anxious, and also see this as a place of comfort, where they've always gone to interact with others and feel some sense of belonging. To begin suggesting we are going to crumble into social disorder, and also suggesting life is going to change immeasurably as we know it for decades to come, when they don't really KNOW what the future holds, is venturing into the area of fear-mongering. Let's take this s**t seriously, but let's not turn a football forum into a place that will terrify many, based on worst-case hypothesis
  20. Adults telling people who they 'should' and 'should not' support. Ha I for one will be at the county ground for the 20 20 game between the two, and will support whoevers fans seemed as battered as I'll inevitablly get (meaning I'll support both). Gloucestershire la la la! Somerset la la la!
