You seem confident that you do so let’s hope you are correct and it’s closer to £20m.  A team rumoured to be interested in Semenyo, Crystal Palace, signed Eze for £16m but he had been performing well at this level for longer than Semenyo, who I would say has only been showing what he can truly do for 6 months.  Olise is a better comparison and he went for £8m and I believe he had the same length of contact left as Semenyo does.

If we sell him now I think it will be closer to £10m than £20m and will include sell ons and add ons to get closer to £15-17m.   Guess we will see….

Olise had a £8m release clause in his contract. He should have been worth far more.

I think we will get over £10m for Semenyo, Pearson will be very clear that the money needs to be right in order to sell him.

However, if rumours are to be believed and a number of clubs are interested in signing him, then we could end up pushing more towards the £15m range.

£20M is a good figure to bandy around but I'm not sure it will be achieved. Looking at the championship players being talked about at the moment only Djed Spence may go for that sort of money. No one is talking such figures for Rothwell, Lewis-Potter or even Andre Gray with his goalscoring pedigree.

Rothwell and Gray are both out of contract.

Djed Spence is difficult to compare as full backs often cost less than attackers, but will still go for good money.

The big draw for Semenyo is the number of Prem teams that require a player like him. West Ham, Southampton, Bournemouth, Forest, Brighton, Brentford and potentially even Everton could all benefit from a player such as him, whether that be as a starter or as cover.

  3. Must be a serious bid, if true. Instantly meeting the clubs asking price.

I suppose it's also best to get the deal done and improve the squad early, as opposed to trying to replace him later in the window.

Would be a huge shame to lose him after the form he showed last season. However we must keep his contract situation in mind, he's currently at peak value.

£15m-£20m would be ideal, would allow us to invest in the squad, whilst banking much needed funds to ease the financial burden.

I don't think Pearson is in the habit of letting quality players like Kalas walk out the door. Imo, whilst he wants more wage equality across the squad, his preference is for Kalas to stay and the wage equality to be achieved by him signing an extension to the 1 year he's got left but on reduced terms.

Whether or not we've got value for money so far out of Kalas is open to debate, we probably haven't, but going forward the player agreeing a longer contract on reduced terms would improve that situation.

Not at all suggesting Kalas hasn't done enough to stay, in fact I would have him in our strongest team.

However, it warrants him reducing his wages in order to stay, or we risk losing him for free next summer.

Therefore it leaves Pearson with a decision to make. The likes of Bentley and Dasilva are in similar situations, but I don't believe that their wages aren't on the same level as Kalas'.

    ???

It will cost us over £3m in 22/23 if we let him run his contract down.

Id happily sit him down and extend his contract, reducing his wage in the process, but if he won’t do that, it’s exactly the same as Massengo…except dearer! ?

I still believe he may be one of the 4 players that Pearson mentioned he had spoken to on sound of the city.

A more even wage structure points in that direction.

  6. Really interesting listening to him describe his time with us. In a weird way his time with us went full-circle.

He said he initially wanted to sign for us because he thought he could move to a bigger club after 6 months.

Was initially a centre midfielder, who had done well at youth/reserve level for Newcastle. Quickly found out that competitive football is a completely different standard.

Did his 28 days in jail and was grateful that the club stuck by him, although feels that they had to due to Brooker being a valuable asset, and the club not being able to release one and not the other.

Moved to right back and never looked back. He says that in his opinion, he became one of the best right backs outside of the Prem, and it's hard to argue otherwise.

    He's a really likeable guy.

Just noticed that- a tweet at 4pm and 6pm eh.

Unfortunately it seems that the club admin is aware of fans interests in the "on the hour" theme.

I saw the 4pm and 6pm posts and wondered if something could be happening.

    Anyway, On to tomorrow...

You’re getting as bad as me now ???

    Always eagle-eyed during transfer season!

Genuinely excited for how the squad could look at the end of the window. Optimistic to say the least.

Plus, this is one deal I really want us to get over the line. If he does well, and with age on his side, he could be a valuable asset.

I was quite bullish we’d get him.  My chips appear to have been delivered with urine not vinegar.

If he does go to Watford, you can't help but feel he will be unheard of once Watford do their usual and sack the manager after 10 games.

  10. Is it possible to create a sub-forum for the constant moaners to attend instead. It's becoming exhausting reading the constant negativity.

The season hasn't even started, we've made two good signings early in the window, one of which was POTY at a play-off side, and people are quick to deem us as doomed for relegation.

Have some hope, we are all supposed to support our club and be optimistic about the future.

  11. Wrexham's Jordan Davis (number 7) looks some player in midfield.

He's been involved in absolutely everything.

Only 23 years old so would expect to see him in the football league at some point in the future.

    Or Connor Roberts ?

    Absolutely.

The range of targets would increase tenfold of they are to get promoted. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another that springs to mind.

Whereas we may be the best place for Kane Wilson with his current rate of progression, whilst being able to give him a platform to develop further.

Looks like bigger clubs than Forest want Spence now whatever happens, still completely bemused as to why Warnock loaned him out.

If Forest do win though I suspect they will be looking for someone more proven than Wilson.

If Forest go up, and Spence ends up being out of reach for them, then I could see them going for Max Aarons instead.

  14. Hope we can get this one over the line.

As mentioned, the play-off final tomorrow seems key.

Nige wants the bulk of our transfer business completed before players report for pre-season training.

Estimate that will be in 2-3 weeks time.

When I first heard this, I thought straight away this was going to be Baker’s replacement.

    I think you're correct.

Signing Naismith, whilst also having Atkinson who can play the LCB role would indicate that we have now covered Bakers position.

If Klose signs his deal, whilst also having Kalas, then we have 4 very good centre backs for this level.

The Horsfall (Northampton) rumour may also be correct and act as Cundy's replacement, thus giving us great options at the back.

    Kane Wilson next please.

  16. Wow! That's some signing for us.

He had a fantastic season, and has all the attributes we require at the back.

Very excited about the season ahead now.

If we manage to keep Klose, and add Kane Wilson we are in a great place.

Rinomhota would complete the business with minimal spend (comp for Wilson).

Firstly, I’m not usually the one to shout transfer rumours across this board. So I will just pass this on from what I’ve heard earlier today…

Apparently we are having talks with this lad. Swansea are another club that’s very interested by all accounts. I’m not sure what his contract status is with Luton, I haven’t really looked into it…

    Just passing on.

Judging by the latest Twitter post, it looks like this could be confirmed in the next few mins.

A big well done if it is him signing. Sharing the news and confirmation within 2 hours is impressive.
