I agree. But nowadays games can only be won in the middle of the park - apparently - so both sets of teams have to set up to congest (not contest) the middle of the park.
Same with corners. Nowadays it’s absolute madness to even think of leaving 2 players on the halfway line when defending a corner. It’s almost like the attacking team won’t react by committing fewer players forward if you just dared to break the mould.
I’d be a Mike basset manager in this day and age. We will play four four f king two, and see how these teams react cus they won’t be used to it.
Yeah me too! Three cheers for Ramirez
Thats another thing that really gets me, not leaving anyone up for corners, just invites pressure. If you put two up, the other team would bring at least 3 back, meaning the penalty area would be less congested and maybe easier to defend!!

I've said something similar recently. Teams won't know what to do as defenders have lost the art of defending a bit. Only problem is wingers can't really cross now
The same coaches that get defenders to play out from the back, are the same coaches that get the forwards to press to stop the passing out!! So try something different, that’s what a good coach would do!

How many sides in the prem, champ play with two strikers from the off currently? Can’t be many if any? Even league one and two days of sides playing with two strikers are diminishing.
And there’s the problem! All the teams are similarly coached, so negate each other. The games got boring with every team trying to play out from the back/ false 9s , etc. What would happen if we played 442, with big bloke/ little bloke up front, and got the ball forward quicker? I’m pretty sure it would be more entertaining and more goalmouth action!
At the end of the day, the whole point of the game has been the same for 160 years. To score more goals than the other team! Does it really matter how you do it?

If we had lost today, they would’ve delayed it. I bet they bring the details out this week!!

I said to my fellow season ticket holders the Jan window that Moore would have been a good option for us.
But clearly he had loftier ambitions than the lower half of the Champs.
Hes already weighed in with some important goals for Ipswich but having witnessed his abysmal performance at Portman Road on Tuesday night I’m not sure he’s what we need. He was very immobile and Zak and Rob D had no problems whatsoever negating him. I really thought he was poor. Again today he offered no threat vs Cardiff but it was a good strike.
But, but, we should be paying his extortionate wages ( whether he’s shit or not)!. All we’ve got to say is we’re interested and any player comes to us surely

I suppose the wage structure thing.
Albeit Cardiff have seemingly slashed theirs, their reported wage bill last season makes us look like Princes. (£14-14.5m Football wage). Yet they were in for him.
They might have enquired, but the wages would’ve put them off as well.!

Yea, he's doing a real shit job there eh.. if only Ipswich would have JL and BT behind them they'd have the title wrapped up by now.
Harry Kane is doing pretty well at Bayern, but we couldn’t afford his ******* wages either!!

I scrolled down the thread before watching the presser this time. I’m glad I did and thanks for sharing… don’t think I’m gonna bother watching.
Some poor answers there imo. How many times is he gonna say “Oh it was great 3 games ago”. It was 2 games, 3 games and now 4 games.
I spoke to him in their hotel at Ipswich. I told him I’d wanted him sacked after the Cardiff game. He replied “ I bet you didn’t say that 3 weeks ago”. .Actually I did mate!!

Can’t be bothered to scroll all the way through this thread, but, did anyone else notice a few of the players go straight down the tunnel after the game? I get that they were gutted about losing, but so were we. I know money doesn’t come into it when they are on the pitch, but they were getting paid , while we had to pay for train, hotel, lots of beer and have 2 days off work! It wouldn’t have took much to acknowledge the fans. Just one negative to a pretty decent performance.

Anyone know how you find out how many games you’ve got against your name? Been t a few away games this season, but haven’t always bought the tickets . Can’t find anything in my Bristol Sport account.

Really?
Well 499! We were given 761, we’ve got 262 left.

500 sold, not a bad effort. 11 o clock train, decent hotel, playing a team in form, what could go wrong!!!
-
7 of us going by train and staying the night. Never done Ipswich before.

Fair dos but your uncertainty puts people off. I'd pay £50 for it but maybe others would pay more.
Maybe other contributors to the thread would care to price it?
I’m not looking for a bidding war, just thought someone might like it and I could raise a bit of money for charity at the same time. If you think it’s worth £50 and you want it, it’s yours.

I'm not saying that I want to buy it @Hello Dave, but I will say that the biggest deterrent for people in anything like this is the absence of a guide price.
Obviously you want more than a tenner for it but I really don't have a clue as to it's value or what you are hoping to get for it.
You answer above "every bit helps" really doesn't help.
Say what you would be happy to get for it - £60, £80 - and then people can start PMing you with bids.
As it is I don't have a clue what you're looking for: £50, £100, £200.
And as I don't know even a rough guide I won't pitch in. This is why auction houses give guide prices: to give people an idea. Sure it may go for much more in a bidding war but you need a starting point.
eBay auction linked from here maybe?
It was donated to the raffle/ auction. I really wouldn’t have a clue what it’s worth. I suppose it’s worth more to some than others. If I said £50, I wouldn’t know if that was too much or not.

To be fair to McInnes Coppell was the one who signed Damian Stewart & I actually thought Pearson was one of his better signings, there were a succession of shocking centre backs he signed that were far worse in VFM & quality terms than him.
To be honest, that era just blurs into one big disappointment ! There was some shocking players signed then, most of them I can’t remember!!

That's one of the best kits we've ever had! Decent team as well
Yeah, Mccinnes definetly assembled a quality squad at that time. I pine for the days of Damian Stewart and Steven Pearson!!!

That’s the problem, I honestly don’t enjoy it anymore. There was a time when a defeat would ruin my weekend and a win would make it. Now, I couldn’t really give a ****, which is sad. If it wasn’t for the social side, I wouldn’t bother.
