I was involved in a brief discussion about enjoying football.

I didn’t enjoy the game today and the result had little to do with that.

The game today it seemed to me was all about possession and very little about entertainment.

I don’t pretend to know the answer, but if our football, and football in general doesn’t provide entertainment to spectators then what’s the point in going to a game?

If anyone who reads this did enjoy the game please tell me what you enjoyed?
The football from both sides was 99% flat and the crowd was 99% quite.

I’ve been saying this for a while now. I think there’s too much football on the telly, which doesn’t help. It’s always on, but I can’t remember the last time I watched the whole game.

Also, like you said, this possession football is boring as ****! The aim of the game is to score more goals than the other team, so what’s wrong with putting long balls and crosses into the box and creating goal mouth action ? It’s great watching Man City or Barcelona playing like they do, but there’s an end product. We struggle to get a shot on target!!!

  2. **** me, I’m home straight after the game! My Mrs wants to know why I haven’t had a skin full after the game! I’m not sure if I’m angry or couldn’t give a **** anymore!!
You’ve got Weimann , who scored 23 goals 2 seasons ago, playing in a position where he cant affect the game one bit, but play midfielders up front🤷‍♂️
5 minutes come up on the board, surely you send your centre half up top, bang balls in the box and put their defence under pressure! It took us 3 and a half minutes of passing the ******* ball around, before we put a ball in the box!!

Anyone who goes every week, knows this isn’t a top 6 team, so why is that manual manipulator Jon Lansdown treating us like ******* idiots? I don’t give a **** if we go to the Prem or not, but don’t insult us and say we’re good enough!! If it wasn’t for the social side, I honestly wouldn’t bother anymore!

He’s had one of those ‘bulldog chewing a stinging nettle’ faces since Alex left. Probably ‘cause Nige gave him a right bolloxing for revealing he was injured on Twitter.

Only time he appeared happy was when he scored those belters at Rotherham. Hoping to see his smiling face again soon. It suites him.

You with him all the time are you?🤷‍♂️

Point is. Derby already had a good team. Lampard had the luxury of bringing players such as mason mount and tomori... and didnt acheive anything more.

So he didn’t need to manage them then? Just sit in a chair and watch them play, piece of piss this management lark! Also, other teams in the league didn’t get better? How many times have we seen teams at the top one year, and nowhere near the next?

No actually i do like him.

But people get blinded by playing careers.

    Great player. Good character.

Forget that though. Judge him, on his career as a manager/head coach. Because thats what he'll be coming to do.

And there isnt anything to suggest he'll be a success.

This is EXACTLY the type of appointment i dread and we need to avoid.

You’ve already said that he took Derby to the play off final, but then belittled that feat by saying they were in the play offs the year before. Just because they were top 6 one year, doesn’t give them a devine right to be there the next. So I would say he did well at Derby.

You said he was lucky in his first spell at Chelsea., because he had a great academy to choose from. How many Chelsea managers have used that academy ( yes I know he was under a transfer embargo). Players like Mount, James, Abraham any other young players, blossomed under his management. To get 3rd in the league and to  the FA Cup Final, after losing your best player and bringing through the kids, to me , is a success.

I could understand the logic in his second spell ( if they were gonna get rid of Potter, which was pointless), if they couldn’t get Pottechino at that time, then give it to a safe pair of hands. Unfortunately, the rot had already set in in the dressing room.

Everton, we’ll none did well there!

Hes just as credible an appointment as anyone else that’s supposedly in the frame.

Before last night, we’d scored the most in the Champ from set-pieces - 6.  Haven’t looked at the update data.

No disrespect, and I know you’re the man for stats, they don’t tell you everything. Just like the stats about O Leary saving the most shots, the stats don’t tell you if they were straight at him.

That happens sometimes when players need to get back in position or need a breather.

It's simply not possible to play at break neck speed 100%of the time.

Some players will hide behind another so as to not receive a pass.

It will go back and forth, then said players will make moves to receive.

It's a way of keeping possession whilst re grouping.

The thing is, we don’t keep possession very well. We do at the back, then sloppy passes in midfield, give possession away.  Even our set pieces., corners etc. invariably ended up with the keeper!

  8. To play pass and move football, players have to move. It sounds simple, but the man on the ball, most of the time has no option. I agree with Spudski that our control is poor, but also that we are not on the half turn when we receive the ball. This means, either the ball goes backwards straight away, or we take too many touches to get it under control and get closed down. One thing that has been glaringly obvious , is the amount of times that players don’t look to play forward. Their first thought is to play sideways or backwards. If you look up and there’s nothing on, fine. But ffs look up first! Does my ******* head in!!!

Other clubs don't appear to have had a problem coming to an arrangement, is it because as BCFC supporters we are being fleeced at home as well!

Quite telling that the invisible man was absent again

In all fairness, if you can afford to go away, you can find another £20 on top for entrance? Not a problem for you retired people!!

I was actually surprised how much to do with the stadium etc is now out of Bristol Citys control and ran by Bristol Sport

We're just tenants hiring the stadium like anyone else holding an event there

We have requested to bring people from Bristol Sport not only to future meetings but they've also got action points from this meeting to respond to

Aren’t they basically owned by one person? Surely all these companies are made up as a tax fiddle? Slag Lansdown off as much as you want, but the bloke ain’t stupid where finances are concerned!

I remember him spanking one in away at Shrewsbury when we won while trying to avoid the drop from L1 under Cotts (believe it was Cotts anyway).

Think I recall it because I was right behind it & it would have probably hit me if the net wasn’t there ⚽

He was terrible that game, just strolled around like he couldn’t be arsed. I remember saying to my mate, “ what a ******* lazy bastard”! As I said it , he picked the ball up and smashed it into the top corner from 30 yards!!!
