  1. *Looks up free agent strikers willing to play for 50p and a packet of monster munch*
  2. “Steve, we’ve just made £25m from Scott. Can I have, at least, half of that to reinvest in the squad and adequately replace him?” Lansdown:
  3. Here’s what I don’t get, and maybe it’s the Football Manager player in me, but can’t we just allocate some of the Scott money to the wage budget? Like we just got 25 million and we’re not gonna spend any of that when we desperately need to because, what, we’ve maxed out some arbitrarily low wage budget? It’s insane. I know Scott wouldn’t have been on much but did we really blow what wages he freed up on TGH from WBA who seems to fill no problem that urgently needed filling? Surely, and again this might be the FM in me talking, we can get someone in on loan where we’re not paying a lot of wages and maybe just a fee? Or a loan like Tammy, he wouldn’t have been on a big chunk of change when we loaned him in. I just don’t get what’s happening right now. Nige has made some stupid transfers (Cornick, King, keeping Wells/Weimann) but dudes gonna walk before this season is done I can feel it.
  4. Pearson is the problem. As soon as anything goes wrong, and it will in football, he immediately throws the players under the bus and/or banishes them. How is there supposed to be any kind of team spirit when things get tough when you know, unless you’re one of his old boys, you’re gonna get blamed and named despite playing out of position. There’s no “we’re all in this together” feeling at the moment, it’s everyone’s fault but Pearson’s and that’s gotta piss the players off to no end.
  5. “Legolas, tell me, what do your elf eyes see?” ”King at CB & Atkinson on the bench” ”Check again”
  6. I don’t think our season would be curtailed, rather it would be a better idea to do what the Aussies have done with the A-League whereby teams play nearby teams until outbreaks in other areas are contained. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-22/sydney-coronavirus-outbreak-a-league-grand-final-rematch-on-hold/13008228 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-23/nsw-covid-19-outbreak-delays-start-to-a-league-season/13011448
  7. “Well done Bristol, you’re in Tier 2 and can go back to the football” Us:
  8. Still quite bad, Bishopsworth has one of the worst infection rates in the country and infections in the over 60’s has also been dramatically increasing. The Uni stuff, from a pure numbers standpoint was *insane* (Bristol Uni alone had had more cases than NZ), but they weren’t actually spreading the virus around the city, just contained largely within their halls.
  9. It’s all gone a bit Trumpy tbh, Boris is “saving” Christmas to placate the braindead morons who didn’t usually vote Tory but did last time. He’s appealing to the “common muppet” but will only end up killing off a fair few of them, like old carrot face did in the US. He doesn’t care about us, he cares about money, he cares about staying in power, we’re just collateral damage to ensure he gets his way. The relaxation of rules over Christmas is going to be catastrophic, you can say “be careful” all you want but he’s given the idiots an inch so they’ll take a mile. We’re absolutely buggered to be honest, as a City we’ll be lucky to be back in Tier 1 by March at this rate.
  10. I get your point, you give people an inch and they’ll take a mile. That’s obviously been happening here as we have gone from one of the best to one of the worst in terms of infections. All we can hope for is that is fans will at least be sensible. I know we have a lot of supporters with the IQ of a bacon sandwich but the clubs are going to take this really seriously.
  11. I don’t think there has been any marketed rise in infections due to football on the continent, it’s long been established that being distanced outdoors (and with masks) is literally the safest thing you can do these days. Clubs on the continent have had staggered arrival and exit times to decrease traffic, they’re well prepared for all this. Also, on the Xmas aspect, the government is going to allow you to meet your family over the festive period (though that is *insanely* stupid and dangerous) so the optics for football are fine. As others have stated going to a game with 4K people is much safer than being in a room with 6.
  12. You’re not huddled together with the 4,000 though are you. You’re outside, distanced and (I imagine) wearing a mask. That’s been compulsory in Germany etc. It’s all moot right now anyway as Bristol is most likely gonna be Tier 3 so, yeah. No idea how the ticketing works either, I assume it would all be season ticket holders on rotation?

  14. It’s probably (definitely) my anxiety talking but maybe people by and large shouldn’t go? I mean I’m 28, if I get this thing I’ll be fine. But I don’t wanna risk passing it to my Dad, in his 60’s, or whoever else. It just feels like common sense at this stage really. I just have this gut feeling some tit will be at the games with a cough thinking it’s nothing and then uh oh. Better to be safe than sorry, surely.
