Why would the club cancel it because of a leak? If there’s a press conference there’s something to say, regardless of whether people know it’s coming. “We’ll have to cancel the announcement of Pearson stepping down as some people on Twitter heard we’re having a press conference”

In fairness being 'proven' and struggling with the long term effects of Covid aren't really linked.

I do as well. Very uninspiring set of options available to us and think we're in trouble this season.

Not for the long term though, or rather if he is appointed for the long term we're in trouble.

No idea who we bring in now.
  6. Not moving for Twine seems like madness to me. Wages must be minimal and there’s no real downside to bringing him in, just to probably be an Alex Scott level of player and if he can earn a spot in the side the better. In fairness the culture at the club surely needs changing, so bringing in the older Leicester guys would make more sense in the short term.
  7. Go back to 4-4-1-1. Bring in at least one winger in January. Considering we've used it for 5 years or so the squad look clueless in a 3-5-2, just pump the ball up the pitch to watch it come straight back. Our best passages of play yesterday came from playing the ball around with short passes in triangles. Focus on keeping the ball on the floor would be a good start.
  8. We're still yet to properly replace Brownhill, Webster, Eliasson and Reid so would have those 4 back in a heartbeat. Lloyd Kelly is a good shout, I'd choose between him or Wilbraham (at his best). We are crying out for Eliasson, complete madness to not replace him at the time but everyone was dead set on 3-5-2 so it went under the radar. Wouldn't touch Bryan with a barge pole. Not good enough at Left Back, regularly gives away goals as he did for Fulham in the prem as well as us and Eliasson had more to his game on the wing.
  9. If we’re still playing like this in a month or two, yes, but it’s not happening. Not convinced he’d come.
  10. I've got my doubts now. That was turgid and there was very little response from the dugout until we were 3-0 down. It was obvious long balls and crosses from deep weren't working at half time. We continued with them in the second half. We had no creativity in the 3-5-2 and were crying out for Alex Scott. He came on at 3-0 down. I think the problems run deeper than Pearson, and I'm not sure if we can afford to get rid of him or if there's anyone out there to bring in, but he has to take responsibility tonight.
  11. Zak Vyner isn’t good enough. Seen enough now. Really strange decisions from Pearson. Would’ve like to have seen Scott at 1-0 down as we had no creativity whatsoever.
  12. Go back to the 4 back. Got absolutely no creativity in the 3-5-2.
  13. Marty James looks miles off the pace, far too slow on and off the ball. Need to stop the long ball football and stop trying to cross it onto Martin’s head from 40 yards out. Birmingham’s defence dealing with everything in the air easily.
  14. Definitely. It was much easier for JET to stand out in League One because his technique was genuinely at least one league above everyone else on the pitch, which covered for the holes in his game. In the championship the skill gap narrowed and suddenly his lack of mobility and work rate caught up with him more. I'd certainly rather have JET in League One, but in the championship I think Palmer is more effective.
  15. Doesn't help that you can't realistically travel by train with the last one to Bristol leaving just after 10pm. I'd have made the trip if it was possible.
  16. You can say the same about Palmer, I'm a fan of both players but neither were/are consistent. What Palmer lacks in long range screamers he makes up for in good forward passing to break the lines of a defence. Nobody else in the squad has the ability to thread passes like Palmer, but his inconsistency holds him back massively. It's up to Pearson whether he wants to take the rough with the smooth.
  17. I really like Palmer and think he's a quality player. We're struggling to create anything and it seems sensible to give him a proper run in the side at some point. Thought he looked good against Fulham and obviously got his goal. But, the same criticisms I and others levy at COD apply to Palmer too. He's had a lot of opportunities, under multiple managers, to settle and hasn't. The common denominator is KP. I do think there's more to Palmer than COD mind, COD is consistently anonymous whereas Palmer might turn a game on its head or might reduce us to ten men. Pearson's comments on Saturday also suggest he's not pulling his weight in training, which if is the case then he doesn't deserve a sniff of minutes.

    Downsy

It's probably inappropriate, but of all the things to rightly moan about Downsy for doing, this probably isn't one of them. Being terrible at his job trumps a questionable tweet.
  19. Be good to see either of them at Ashton Gate when the next run of gigs get booked.
  20. If we ever get access to Premier League money, I hope a significant portion of it is invested into infrastructure. Would be great to upgrade the academy to Category One.
  21. I agree, but it's important to those players as they can be true to themselves and not have to hide anything/deal with scrutiny around their private lives as to why they aren't married etc. That scrutiny shouldn't be there, but it is. Should hopefully help reduce the casual homophobia in football (and society) as well. Fair play to the guy, must take some serious bottle to "come out".
  22. Don't mean to keep harping on about this but I don't get where this speculation about lots of championship clubs potentially being interested in our players has come from? Weimann and Baker ultimately chose to stay here on reduced wages at the end of last season and I would say they're two of the better players currently at the club. Assuming they didn't turn down higher wages elsewhere in the league to stay that suggests that there wasn't much interest in them from other championship clubs. If those two couldn't get a better deal elsewhere than reduced terms here, I don't see how many players in the squad can expect to do better? I genuinely believe we'll struggle to levy a fee for most of our deadwood, it'll be interesting to see if anyone other than HNM, Kalas, Wells or Bentley get approached in January. My hunch would be no but time will tell. I've said this elsewhere but the squad really is bang average and doesn't have one cohesive style of play that brings the team together. It's not a squad set up to press, it's not a squad set up to counter attack, it's not a squad set up to play long ball football, for me that's more important than personnel. I can't go into detail on Luton as I frankly don't know, but surely Lansbury, Jerome etc all suit a certain style of play?
  23. I (and others) have been calling for it for years. Can go back through any of the big threads towards the end of the Holden era if you want an idea of how many people wanted one appointed. It would make a lot of sense. A long term appointment (feels like something Tinnion might end doing in the future) would hopefully give us better cohesion as a club if they could help bridge any gaps between the manager/playing staff and the board/Lansdown.
  24. Sky said first Premier League hat trick during the broadcast. Doesn't help that pre 1992 football is barely discussed in the media so the Premier League era has just become the default era of football.
