In all honesty I think its good we have a former players association, its about time. I do wonder though whether in 30 years time we'll be flying in Ivan Testimitanu, Famara Dhiedhiou or Hörður Magnússon from Moldova, Iceland or Timbuctu for an impromptu cheer around the pitch. How on earth will they find or even locate them?

Due to rising sea levels, mate, we'll all be living cheek by jowl by then, it'll just be a case of making an announcement "would Ivan Testimitanu, Famara Dhiedhiou or Hordour Magnússon please report to the VIP entrance so's we can bring you out at half-time" over the Dolman tannoy ....

I found this from an Ipswich podcast online. Talks about his career (mostly about Ipswich for obvious reasons) but also covers that movie and his time with us (safe to say he didn’t think much of Denis Smith) i didn’t realise he stayed in the area for around 30 years

Imagine his children were starting or in school about the time he was here so stayed put for that?

They are the top home scorers in the division to date.

Score a lot, concede a lot. Home Park is a bit of a fortress.

Not just us they're outscoring its pretty much everyone.

Yes, every week they appear to be having a lively game at Home Park, and few problems finding the back of the net, or creating opportunities. Maybe it'll be different next season. You just wonder how we find creating opportunities and putting them away so difficult given we have been at this level for years.

15 goals scored. 7 of those in 2 games.

It's not many goals, is it. Not a lot of "action," not in the opposition's penalty area. I notice that Plymouth, newly promoted Plymouth, have scored twice as many as us at home. You might expect Leicester or Leeds to score that many more than us, but Plymouth? Perhaps Preston and Millwall get all the way down to Devon and the sea air goes to their heads and they "bomb" forward with gaya abandon, like they never do here. I don't know.

But dear me - to borrow from another thread - how bleedin hard is it (for us) to score goals?

And it's not just Manning, it has been four or five seasons of largely dour football served up at Ashton Gate. It's a wonder the attendances continue to be around 20,000. In previous times, crowds would've dropped off significantly given such poor standard of attacking football.

He’s certainly doing exactly what you want a first-time loanee to do.  Header was like Andi Weimann’s at Sheffield Utd.

What was Andi Weimann's header at Sheffield Utd like, Dave?

OK, fair enough, I don't think your critique is bizarre in itself. What I think is bizarre is how prominent the negative takes have become in the discussion of the Twine signing.

When Nige was moved along, the club came out and told us whoppers. Which has resulted in some/many doubting just about everything they do/say. You reap what you sow, at the end of the day ....

  7. Moving Bristol City fans around Ashton Gate in the hope of transforming the atmosphere, is akin to moving the deck chairs around the Titanic in the hope of making it to New York.

Wherever we are in the ground v Watford we just will not be as excited as we were against West Ham. If City fans were to be in the Atyeo tomorrow the atmosphere will not be as good as Tuesday, even if we win 2:0 or 3:0.

It's what's happening on the pitch that either revs people up or sends them to the concourse/their phones. Tuesday's agricultural, up and at -em, old-school, get in to 'um **** 'em up style football alongside the slaying of a PL club, plus being under the lights, is (part of) what makes an atmosphere. Watford at home, with (probably), lots of technical possession football amongst the cbs and midfield  around the middle of the pitch, does not an atmosphere make. Not even with us in the Atyeo.

This is what's wrong with this world...a few words of criticism and people melt

You sure, spud? Thought you said, last week, it was .... I forget now. Summat or other. Surely, what's wrong with this world, is people being so sure what's wrong with this world (ie other people), or something like that? Plus social media.

Winning this evening would have been worth a fortune to the club.

Telly cash, prize money, gate receipts in the next round.

Must be close to 500k lost.

    That's almost a double-Tilson.

  10. Many older fans that recall the us beating Chelsea in this competition will have had their fill, by, now, after so many years, of this type of "ruffling a young boy's hair" coverage from one of the nationals. How we long to be the big gun getting turnt over by a tinpot and then going back to the big boy football at the top of the game .....

I’ve been critical of the running of the football club on here recently by the Lansdowns, but WELL DONE Bristol City last night. Proud of the team. Great performance on national TV.
Manning got the tactics spot on last night.

    Those "tactics" being:

    Bowen, Antonio and others injured

Joe Williams two-footing their "tempermentally" suspect forward and getting the desired reaction

    A poor back pass

A visiting squad missing out on a few days in the warm sun away from Blighty in January and not really being "up for it"

A referee seeing enough things how we wanted to see things

    Danny Ings

    Etc, and so on.

I thought the most interesting thing he said, which strongly suggested he'd been informed by someone above ( imo Tins) is that any Coach coming here, will be told to play a certain way, dictated to by those in charge, in a way that had been ingrained in the Academy.

    Words to that affect.

No-one's ever thought of or tried that before, and now JP's let the country know our unique philosophy. Doh
