    Yep.

I would never try to compare myself to TC but we’re similar in size & build & as you know, I played up front (at a standard about a million times lower).

I just thought he worked out what would be best for him & his first touch & layoff play improved, but only an opinion though, isn’t it?

Good to see you after the match, lovely to catch up & genuinely appreciate the support from all of you.

You "knew where the goal" was, Graham, let's have it right. You knew this because you were always hanging around, where the goal was (which never moved)

  2. I can hereby inform otib that I have only just, not half an hour ago, spoken directly, face to face, in a supermarket car park, to someone that works closely with the First X1 on a daily basis, and asked that person if they had "any news," and that person said that no, they didn't have any news.

To lead someone on or tease them with the promise of something desirable without actually delivering it, causing them to feel frustrated and unsatisfied.

This ^ is the Steve Lansdown era Bristol City, isn't it? Steve's inadvertent "philosophy," and ultimate legacy. How many Championship seasons is it now?

  4. What's yer forecast?

I reckon it will be for the most part (disappointingly) mild, with any storms soon passing overhead and quickly fizzling out. Tepid. A bit of hot air but no flood. No red weather warning. Despite people ringing in to (otib) to say there's a hurricane coming to BS3, don't worry, there isn't.

Mind, if Sheff Weds take an early lead ....

Yes, even us non-singers might give it a go.

No marching powder or cider required tomorrow, that's for sure.

Remember to warm up first, I suggest the Nova Scotia. Else you pull a hamstring. Or a vocal chord. You might need a hymn sheet too, so there's a bit of singing from the krek one (not the one from 84/5). We could get a Bermuda call-and-response type triangle thing going between you, @GrahamC and that @EnclosureSurge (who will need to invitation, or popular boss sacked). This is going to be some occasion! Sheffield Wednesday will be like: wtf's going on here?

They are very fortunate we have a minutes silence for remembrance day...

They are very fortunate - this is the mild, mild West Country. And things aren't what they used to be. And that the 2015 rebuild and that concourse have softened any semblance of old-school agitation, such as there is, or was. And that there was the money to put distance between the riff-raff and the well-to-do. And that there are glass boxes to retire into. And that this is not Everton.

Be careful what you wish for.

That phrase gets right on my nerves

There must've been - in the dog years of Marcus Evans and Mick McCarthy - conservative Ipswich fans gravely advising uppity Tractor Boys itching for something new, different, to be done, to be "careful" what they wished for.

Where we are now looks a lot like Ipswich under that duo, I think they had been in the Championship for the longest unbroken stretch, going around in circles, playing dour football.

I still find it outrageous that we have decided on how the club will play despite not having a head coach.

Just complete and utter arrogance by those that have decided this on the teams behalf.

This is because it is what other clubs do/have done. We are copying, or trying to copy, what others have done successfully previously, always a few steps behind.

We have nothing original going on here - like, say, Brentford with their approach; or Brighton; or Swansea a few years back - just pale imitation. Nothing original other than the Bristol Sport umbrella/group thing, which doesn't appear to have helped City to any great degree, and nobody else in football as far as I can think have so far chosen to copy.

Haven't watched either press interview yet, but reading the comments, it's starting to sound like Curtis is more popular than 'Pembo'.

Great record, Pembo, as Numero Uno here: 4 games, 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss. Just the one goal conceded. Tightened us up at the back and turnt us around. Beat that, Flem-o!

We cannot afford them - what do you think a Prem loan costs? Millions, that's what.

These days we're shopping for players in Carlisle, Oxford and Luton - with wages to match. So that's where the next manager will come from too - cos he knows that market and is used to budget constraints. Unlike Lampard.

Jon never mentioned any of that, did he? It was all front-foot, reverse-sweep, ramp-shot, doosra baz-ball high-temp pressing or summat, nothing about "shopping," as I recall?

To be fair, Lampard has had a 5 year managerial career whilst Pearson has had a 25 year managerial career.
And Frank has managed 2 clubs which are much bigger than anything Nigel ever managed.

    On merit?

What about a procession down north street where distressed fans can throw flowers and leave touching remarks? Hoping for at least ankle deep in bouquets outside the coopers and along the natch wall. We could then meet at the back of the Pearson stand for a few readings from his best press conferences, before catching and eating an ostrich at the fans village.

Happy to set up a gofundme if people are interested?

I don't think the football lads amongst us will go for that, bit too subtle, but you've got something there

true but we can have some fun with it - all the other mooted candidates are utterly depressing!

    Fraaaaaaaaaaaank

Yes, it's all good fun. Right or wrong, @robinforlife2 has brightened things up for us all as we await the puff of smoke from the AG chimney

Guernsey wanted Stevie G not so long ago, I'm sure he'd be happy with Frank - it's the same thing but with an 'O' Level!

And Guernsey likes golf and Frank plays golf - it's a done deal!

Yes, I've had a look and in fairness to @robinforlife2 Frankie Lampards plays golf. Interesting  .....

You can email your mate whatever you wish, that is your business. I only know, that a very good friend of Franks, has been told directly by him, he wants the job, he's been in contact, he is due to be interviewed and he was due to be playing golf tomorrow and has cancelled it to meet the club.

Playing golf - in this weather?

As I said on Monday on another thread, Lampard wants the job and has made contact. I spoke to my mate again this morning and he has said that Frank will be interviewed, and he is very keen to come here. After the chat I had with my mate this am, who is very good friends with Frank, I would be very very surprised if he is not our next manager.

You absolutely sure, mate? Because yesterday I emailed my mate and said: "John Eustace." Only to have to email again today, to say: "Er, forget John Eustace." I don't want tomorrow mate to be emailing my mate: "Mate, forget Frank Lampard. Be in touch tomorrow."
