  1. Cos .... Otib says so. I read it on here. It's going to be a tough Championship this time, remember, cos you got yer Leeds's, yer Leicesters, yer Southampton, and you got yer Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday. And Plymouth! All massive clubs. Millwall ain't getting in the squeaky-bum stuff, right in the thick of it, not this time mate. And I reckons Joe will not be too unhappy about that.
  2. Joe can be fairly anonymous at Millwall, living in London. Jolly good money at a club that do not have to be promoted. Finish top ten, top eight, no great drama. In fact, they are pretty unlikely to get in the play offs or finish bottom third, so no drama, no angst, no must-win pressure. Just very good money, doing something he can easily do, and living pretty anonymously in one of the great cities of the world, with no-one bending his ear every time he steps out of his "manor" (getting a taxi being the only exception). No home-town goldfish bowl, no PP club must achieve this. No big crowd. No real bother. And great money. Plus libraries, and books. Just need to put yer foot in, Joe, every now and again; and when the opposition are breaking 4 against your 3, probably want to at least look like you are trying to get back and help. Otherwise, no bother. And good money. Plus small crowd, and few "musts."
  3. It would be wonderful, yes, if we showed that ambition/indifference to modern day football realities. It would be wonderful if football was as we wished it would be, and Bristol City were able to move about and operate within it, as if we were Manchester City. It would be wonderful if by merely showing ambition, everything would fall in to place for Bristol City. It would be wonderful if FFP was just a figment of Mr Popodopolous's festive fiscal imagination. I wish it could be Christmas every day. I wish we could just do what we did in 75/6 with Merrick and Ritchie in 2023 and the rest of the Championship took a year off and we got promoted. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
  4. Take the 18 mill but don't let anyone know, not even Bcfcshags mate. Then say: "undisclosed fee." Meanwhile, knock up a telegram to the Muff saying something like: "Muff. 25 mill. Plus Semenyo back on loan. Or forget it." Then leave this lying around the office, somewhere Bcfcshags mate will see it.
  5. All them blokes you know/see that are total ***** are total ***** not because they are "just" total ***** but, by and large, because their formative days/months/years, including the earliest bit where they was in utero, were spent being looked after (to a greater or lesser extent, for good or ill, mostly ill imho tbf) by people who were/are themselves total, or at least quite a bit, *****. It's mostly the massive bellends that buy the Sun and absorb other similarly unsophisticated, lowest common denominator, never-happened-in-my-day horse manure media that tend to believe otherwise. Not because they are total ***** but mostly just because they are massive bellends
  6. Bairstow keeps at OT then (Bazball)
  7. Thought you were gonna suggest "Tommy Gun" .... Tommy Con, you ain't happy unless you got one, Tommy Con
  8. "Give up all hope for a better past" the Buddhists advise us. And while yer at it/that, give up all hope of a better present/future/summer transfer window. Just surrender mate, to the mediocrity. We are mediocre. We have largely always been mediocre, and we probably always will be so. We are Reading (minus the record breaking promotion to the PL). If we ever escape the cloying clutches of mediocrity - like that brief spell in 17/18 - it is always and without fail not going to last. Don't be fooled, don't be seduced, taken in, when we win three in a row, or have another good spell, or a young player destined for the top: remind yourself, we are mediocre. We are Reading (minus Trevor Senior).
  9. What about Bryan Steele's Bristol Carpets, mate, they still open seven days?
  10. I don’t see Millwall taking to Joe. 1, there's his relaxed attitude to rolling his sleeves up and getting back goal-side (source: @Harry), and 2. He has publicly admitted he reads books. Plus he has openly talked about his mental health. And his dad is educated and clever. A few ropey performances early doors and that'll be it, he'll be a "I love you."
  11. I got carried away there, I thought he was bringing on more guests/help, but looked up to see he was introducing the band. Woops
  12. Mark Ashton involved in Elton's "recruitment" for this evening?
  13. Getting like spud now I'm enjoying bringing some "balance"
  14. And Dave Grohl not far behind (no doubt) Will be like the end of bleedin Live Aid
  15. That was just Russ Conway then with a bloke in gold lame shouting over the plinky-plonk
  16. If Otib can be this generous/forgiving next season on the Match Day threads ..
  17. It's a mix of almost-singing (the quiet, arms in the air ones) and shouting (the noisy ones)
  18. You wouldn't get out of that field tonight and make it to Aust if you needed a ....
  19. Yes, a very emotive song (on vinyl) delivered live devoid of any feeling. I think I'm beginning to understand why not many people "sing" down AG ....
