  1. Fair enough. Maybe Johnson did, but Steve took another view. Maybe that was why he was fired, when we were 12th!
  2. Bristol City 1979 - 1983 was the "complete mess" of all complete messes. Bristol City 189whatever - 2022 (excluding 1905 - 1911 and 1974 1979) is not a "complete" mess, merely a bit of a mess.
  3. Very wealthy people are told what they want to hear - "How's it going with Mark, Lee?" "Great, Steve. Top, top chief scout, sorry, executive. Knows what he wants, er, what needs to be done. Onwards and upwards, blah blah etc etc" - more than what is often true or real, I have often read. Lee casting doubt on Ashton would've been criticising Lansdown's judgement.
  4. You got to hand it to KC Palmer (and his agent), he knows what he's doing. Still getting paid (tons) and not playing (much). Crafty (or canny) sod.
  5. We belong in that, we should be in La Liga.
  6. It was a neat line, and was lapped up by the likes of Barnsley's "Parky" and other dinosaurs it being the 1970s, but the truth was Best was a sad and pitiful wreck of a human being. I think we have moved on a bit from that sort of nonsense now. A bit. I read this week that by the age of 22 Best had won his last trophy.
  7. It's true, atmosphere = results. This is why we look down upon the Few but look up to Bournemouth.
  8. Yeah, but: after losing 31 games in 62 played under Nige (source: @MattWSM).
  9. So, just to be clear: we aren't for sale, but we might be for sale?
  10. I buy it for E W Swanton and the county cricket reports ... I see Hampshire won again, Isewater
  11. It's economy of thought. And spleen and bile. One cannot be scattering one's bile hither and tither, it must be concentrated, and focused. Immediate, and unthinking. And most of us cannot be bothered/arsed to go into things in such minute detail so as to establish the, er, facts of the matter, like yer Harrys, yer Davefevs, yer Exiled Ajaxes.
  12. When we're second bottom in January and 5 points adrift (having played a game more than everyone else), I want Warnock here to do what he did with Rotherham when he kept them up. Although, we'll then need him again the following January and the novelty might've worn off a bit. Anything to keep us out of L1 and from another bleedin' tinpot Bristol "derby."
  13. Even when he was "just running around" I never felt he was "stealing a wage." An honourable pro.
  14. Avon & Somerset are too soft/thick, too Hot Fuzz/ West Country. I'd get in West Mids plod, with a few South Yorkshire. Even the ones from the 80s (who will now be drawing their well-earned pensions), they'd make AG a "difficult place to go" alright.
  15. Now, now, everyone's different. Not everyone can soothe their anguish and disappointment with "logic" and "facts," some need a bit more than that.
  16. This is the nagging doubt with Nige that just won't go away. And it was the recruitment bloke Walsh too, as well as Shakespeare. Add to this that he is trying to do it at Bristol City in the second tier, and his health, and you do wonder if it's all too much to ask.
  17. Lovely use of metaphor, thank you.
  18. Well, there's a Mr. D. Bentley of Basildon, a Mr. Z. Vyner, Mr. K. Naismith from Glasgow, Mr Robert Philip Atkinson of Chesterfield, a Mr Joe Williams of Liverpool, a .....
