A Johnny Foreigner. They play the game all over the world now, you know. It's a bit like Einstein and his "appointing broadly the same sort of bloke - English, pale, stale etc - from the same small pool of "talent" and expecting different and better results" thing. When the stats prove English coaches are not as good as those from overseas. We tried it 25 years ago, let's try again!

In conversation with ....... Joe Royle
Bristol Oil Services replied to headhunter's topic in Football Chat
I bumped into to Joe in an upmarket North Somerset supermarket the day we played Leeds in September 2012, when George Elokobi was crocked, and very chatty and genial he was too. We stood near the deli counter as he waited for Mrs Royle and he was easy to talk to and get to say something interesting. A few ex players attended that day iirc and Joe was making a weekend of it, spending the weekend with I forget now which former teammate. I remember him saying he used to live in Congresbury back in the glory days, He told me that day that he had applied twice for the job, once when TC got it, and again more recently. When DMc got it, I think it was. As much as I love Coops, just think what Joe Royle might've done here. Just-think-for-a-minute. Or don't, if you don't want to depress yerselfs (any more than you already are). -

Tbf to the "idiots," we did finish 8th and 11th under those two and contested a League Cup semi final, so they'll be struggling to grasp why Ashton and LJ were rubbish, and Big Nige is doing a good job. Unless you explain to them, and not ignore them. Because the club don't explain these things. The club, like all clubs, are not open and transparent. They are economical with the truth. And pretty disingenuous at times. And it's also possible that they - the club - don't understand fully either, see JL saying "come on Nige, this is shite! We should be not-shite." Or, Nige is shite, and the "idiots" know something we don't. -
Don't back-peddle now, Dave. The Genie-us, LJ, is out the bottle, and all over otibs
-
I think LJ coming back here now would remind him too much of the (uphill) job he faced at Oldham, so I'm going to say @Davefevs has got this one wrong, and wait to see what kid in his riot van says.
-
LJ to return it is, then. And his first signing - Marlon Pack.
-
And Roger Malone.

No? Not making your own luck? A bit like delaying the kick-off to a critical end of season do-or-die game so as to know what result you (both) need to stay up. Naughty, and not nice. We're too nice, nicer than bloody Bournemouth.

The Pearson Debate - Something Not Mentioned Yet…
Bristol Oil Services replied to Harry's topic in Football Chat
This is simultaneously demoralising and encouraging. Depressing and inspiring. To think they were in the Conference in 2014! -
time to dump sky for the summer?

'Bristol Butchers' win against Hibs in Anglo-Scottish Cup
Bristol Oil Services replied to ashton_fan's topic in Football Chat
Fake (team) news. "Bristol’s Scottish Butchers" I think is/was more accurate -
I hate Nottm Forest, I hate Liverpool too, I hate Man Utd ....
-
Hadn't thought of that. Poor Nige
-
You should accompany @Harry on some of his scouting trips ....
-
Average male life expectancy: 79.3 years; Nige: 58; answer: about 42 transfer windows
-
He tries another stroll in the Carpathians? Ukrainian Carpathians?
-
None of the opposition attack is Sunday League, mind ....

No? Not Steve, by Mark Ashton?

The pandemic brought this home, to most. @Robbored might catch up, some day

Bristol Oil Services replied to Blagdon Mike's topic in Football Chat
@Merrick's Marvels: I will get you this for yer birthday what I missed in January, unless you've got it already? Or, I could get you a hat like Geoff's there. Up to you. -
Not unfavourable (take a look at the top five or six in League One)
