  1. We had loads of injuries and we didn’t have any senior defensive options on the bench and with Knight ill, I think there was a reluctance to play him (albeit he ended up coming on after 38 mins). I suppose there was the option to go with a back four of Roberts, Pring, Dickie and either Sykes or Gardner-Hickman but if Nige felt the best team on the day was to include King, it ultimately should be his decision to make. I think a lot of it is down to how it’s delivered, there’s nothing wrong with a constructive challenge on the team selection but you’d expect that it was more than that for Nige to mention it in the public domain

  3. I believe so, it came out that the hierarchy had an issue with the inclusion of Andy King
  4. The outlay won’t be huge until the end of the season but the thing that surprises me is the 3 and a half year contract given to LM, very few clubs stick with the manager for that long.
  5. I’m disappointed that Nige was dismissed and by the handling of it. It’s also concerning that we’ve supposedly done it wanting to get promotion and then appointed a manager that doesn’t have any experience at this level. That being said, Manning sounds a promising appointment, he’s got experience of working with young players, plays pressing attacking football, he’s currently got Oxford to 2nd in league one and young up and coming manager. On the face of it, I see the potential and he’s a good appointment if you consider it as filling a vacancy but it’s not the best appointment when looking to upgrade a proven manager that’s getting a tune out of the squad. I hope Manning does well and I’ll back him 100% but if this backfires, the board will be in a spot of bother to say the least and rightly so, this is a huuuge gamble.
  6. I believe the top 10 must be in relation to the outgoing transfer fees and doesn’t take into account the monies received. On that basis, we probably are top 10 but it’s a selected statement to suit the narrative, carefully worded to suggest that we should be a top 10 club
  7. In terms of budget, we’ve cut our wage bill massively and I can only assume that the “top 10 budget” he was referring to the transfer fees spent (ignoring the transfer fees received) and effectively selecting data to suit the narrative.
  8. Hope this is more than his 2 minute wonder the other day
  9. Is he actually being serious? He sacks a manager after 2 and a half years work to turn around the club and build the foundations for a push despite having little backing to do so. A squad full of players that are playing for the manager and a fan base that largely have faith in the manager….Then Jon Lansdown sacks him and when called for an explanation/rationale, he declines to go on Sound of the City and does a 2 minute video the next day. The guy needs to get out of our club.
  10. For me, it’s the timing of the decision that makes this worst. The decision has been made after back to back defeats with a squad that’s hanging on a shoe string. In the circumstances, the performance have still been of a good standard, particularly when one was against high flying Ipswich. We’re just about to go into 2 games against teams in and around the relegation zone. Had Nige been in charge, we would have been expected to have won these games. It feels as though the board have decided to get rid of Nige before an upturn in form and it really makes me question the motives of the board.
  11. Thank you for everything Nige, you’ve done a fantastic job to continuously progress the club despite having limited resources and decisions made by the clubs hierarchy to sell our best players. I for one am in disagreement with the decision made by the board.
  12. I don’t think he’s gone for the money, he was linked with a move away prior to the summer just gone and didn’t go because he wanted gametime. Additionally, he didn’t become a rebellious player when the interest was there as a player fuelled by greed would. He’s gone because he wants Premiership football and whilst Bournemouth may not look a great move right now, I can understand the decision because it takes him to a level he wants to play at and is ready to play at. I personally think he’d have been better off staying here for another year and then going as I think the lack of goals and assists (which I think he would have improved this year) is the reason that stronger teams weren’t willing to pay our asking price.
  13. It’ll get us some profit but realistically, can’t see him going for anything more than £40m absolute max if that happens….also may mean that the add ons aren’t triggered. Will get us short term profit but feel he’ll be worth more after 2-3 years and most add ons likely triggered
  14. Hope he comes back and inspires their upturn in form When it was said in the media that we were asking a ridiculous amount - I hope he proves these people wrong We have a sell on, meaning that Scott being successful increases our chances of a windfall in future. Scott has been vocal about how thankful he is for the development achieved here - this can only be beneficial when recruiting in future, particularly if he goes on to break into the international set up

    Huge gap

This really could be a great opportunity for us with Luton and a Sheffield United pretty much nailed on for relegation. Leicester highly likely to go up, I’d expect Leeds to be up there too. Next season will be one where there may not be any particularly big fish coming down and if so, likely to be just one out of the three. That at a time where FFP permits us to spend following the Scott sale. I just hope that the funds will be made available, it could be the best chance we’ve had in years.
  16. As much as I would have loved it given to get the penalty, in my view, the correct decision was made not to give it as it would have been soft and would hate that given against us
  17. Imagine moving to a play in a new country, potentially moving your family and this happens. The handball doesn’t look intended, it looks like one of those unfortunate ones that you can’t do much about. I hope that every future target they have considers this before signing for the club. Poor bloke.
  18. He’s doing a really good job and has done phenomenal to inherit a team in financial turmoil with rock bottom morale, to steady the ship and guide us in becoming a club that’s financially stable with energy and promise throughout the squad. He thoroughly deserves a new contract based on the job he’s done here. Although you can also look at the success he’s had before joining us, the success at Leicester in achieving promotion, keeping them up and building the foundations for them to achieve the biggest underdog story in the history of the Premier League. He’s the best manager outside of the Premier League in my view, absolutely worth a new contract and absolutely worth backing should we wish to push on into the Premier League.
  19. I’ll be forever grateful to Lansdown for the progress we’ve made off the pitch. However, the decision not to back Pearson at this time is incredibly disappointing. Pearson has done incredibly well to filter out the overpaid and under achieving players we had when he came in, at a time where we were being dominated every single game. Most of the signings we have made since have been cost effective and successful despite being largely forced to utilise the free agent market. He beds in our academy graduates and we now have a handful of academy graduates that look promising and are being complemented by the system implemented. Going into the season, we as fans are hopeful of a promotion push and rightly so. We then sell our best academy graduate, the creativity of our midfield for a club record fee. Simultaneously, AW has been suffering with injuries. We’re evidently lacking creativity in midfield now and despite having funds in place, our owner is opting to not bring in a replacement, to not back the manager when there is evident progress and to be content to continue with that glaring void in the squad. I agree we shouldn’t splash the cash but we should at least be looking for a replacement of some sort. I appreciate what SL has done but this is an awful, awful decision.
  20. With the inflation in football, it would be a smart move providing the signings are sensible but most of the players that they've brought in have been quite disappointing, can see them struggling to find £135m a season
  21. Not sure if it’s just me but I didn’t interpret the clip like there were no funds to spend, he mentions that we’re always scouting and recruiting but it seemed to try and manage expectations, in the way that we’ve received £25m but we’re not going to go on a massive spending spree to sign £25m worth of players as some may have hoped. In an ideal world, we’ll spend somewhere between £3m and £10m on strengthening and save the rest which will allow us to spend in future.
  22. Is there an otib fantasy league going this season? Apologies if I’ve missed it
  23. Just seen that too His value was only going downwards in that case as would have only had a couple of months gametime before Jan and at that point, the contract would have become an issue. We’ve done well to get the deal we’ve got in the circumstances.
