  1., there was a dark haired midfielder for west brom with that name who was from bristol, the bald ex crystal palace forward had the same name, he was a dangerous striker who got a lot of goals!
  2. Yes, that sort of thing is now his responsibility, and its reasonable that he should be held to account for it.
  3. Yes, and look at ashton now,, its sickening but no one can say the impact hes had at ipswich hasnt been huge,,, perhaps that could have been the case here, but our owners arent as clear at what they want as theirs?
  4. I don’t believe he has sufficient power to influence the lansdowns either way, and if he didnt carry out their plan, he would have been gone next. I also believe pearson knew he wouldnt be getting a new contract, and starting making noises in the press that may hasten his departure with his contract paid in full. Tinnions role in that i dont think was particularly significant, but the recruitment of manning he will have probably been told to carry out interviews etc, clearly the club knew who he was before pearson went. i dont see you quoting any known sources that tinnion shafted pearson apart from heresay and conjecture from people on here who dont like how it was done. I dont think it was done correctly either, but if the major decisions over the last 20 odd years have been lansdowns, all apart from this one which is tinnions, i cant believe anyone seriously believes that.
  5. Agree, but we were still a mess. and i loved murray, but the local star footballer being threatened to get kicked out the pub for his drunken behaviour, shouldn’t have been acceptable then or now, and half our team was doing it in those days!
  6. Silvio, silvio, silvio, if its a discussion about tinnions qualities as a technical director at this level im up for discussing it, and i have my doubts about his suitability for that role, but not his impact on the academy, or his playing career with us. I think he has earned enough respect from those earlier roles to not be called snake, sid, thick, unintelligent, or have someone thinking that the blame for all our troubles lies solely at his door, which is what was said earlier.
  7. We were a mess at that point, the stories of the players habits was well known, I remember being sat in the revolution bar watching members of the first team squad smoking.. it took your mate GJ to come and fix it in the end.
  8. Yes, and that was 20 years ago. Anyone coming to the club to work has to accept it on that basis.
  9. If you found yourself as ceo of a professional football club on lets say, for example 250000 per year, in your last few years of your working career, where the owner is very wealthy and completely controls the narrative and wanted to replace the manager, would you resign in protest knowing it was going to happen anyway? I respect pearson for keeping us afloat in the circumstances he had, and building the close knit squad he did, but he must have known when he came out publicly and said theres no one around to discuss his contract extension what it was going to lead to, after the alex scott quote when he was sold that he didnt know about it, not getting the transfer proceeds to spend and after telling the lansdowns their plan of selling players to survive was crap as well? i don’t blame pearson, it was probably a relief for him when he left given his health situation too that i hope is much better now, id love to sit with him for a beer to hear his side of it, but anyone thinking it was all tinnions doing along, nothing to do with the lansdowns, is either totally naive, or has an agenda against tinnion specifically,,, and its clear that a lot on here do, including you.
  10. If he didnt know why he got sacked after that horror show then he shouldn’t have had the job anyway. Plus that squad under that manager clearly had issues off the pitch that he couldnt or wouldn’t get any control over, maybe things would have turned out better for wilson had his first team players not been out smoking and drinking till all hours.
  11. If you mean danny wilson, after that brighton game his sacking was inevitable, and after that performance, was deserved. Alexander came out to praise pearson and got fired soon after, you either tow the owners line in his club, or you get fired.
  12. The blame must land with the owner, and thats not tinnion. Theres been 20 odd years of mistakes crap appointments and missed opportunities. Do you really think the decision to sack pearson would have been any different if tinnion was still working with the academy and a different ceo/ technical director was in place?
  13. Another thread about how terrible everything is, ideally the season would just end now so this frenzy of anger can just simmer down,, hopefully we can release a few, get the new striker and creative midfielder in, have a pre season and come back stronger next time.
  14. Its not a recipe for success, but with a smaller squad, the injury situation snowballs, had oleary vyner or dickie got injured we would be in big trouble, but by playing every game its more likely they will be picking up knocks, prings got something going on now as well. We obviously concentrate on our players, i wonder just how we compare to others?
  15. Have to agree, we could make much better use of that wage, shame we are committed to it for a while longer.
  16. Critiquing him in the role is fine, calling him sid, questioning his intelligence, the personal stuff is pathetic , hes earned the right over the years to at least be respected.
  17. Agreed, but that isnt necessarily a lie!
  18. Im not totally aware of the situation with mebude, im no expert on eu/ belgian work permit legislation, if someone did lie about that, then it seems rather pointless. he may have unsuccessfully tried to apply for an eu member country passport or something, and therefore was not eligible for a work permit, ive no idea?
  19. Depends on the reason for the lie i suppose, and some things might be commercially sensitive, or confidential, such as the mccrorie thing, and was only discussed further when mccrorie was ready to discuss it, and that was a million pound signing where information was withheld. If murphy has some kind of ongoing situation that we missed/ glossed over, it doesnt paint anyone in a great light if we still went ahead with the deal, they might feel the lie/ withholding information is worth it, even if it eventually comes out!
  20. Maybe with the stadium included, but with their premier league history, id imagine west brom are regarded at least 1 level above us, if not 2. Its always curious to me though, with so many clubs around there, how the likes of west brom and wolves are consistently in and around the premier league with good support, yet we never manage it, our catchment area is huge, which might be the reason we have a high value. actually i think we all know the reason why we never manage it.
  21. Id go with that, id like to see what he can do, but rather hed be in the absolute best physical condition possible than put him in early and risk a hamstring injury or something.
  22. The lansdowns tried setting us up with ceo’s, but they couldnt get that right either.
  23. Maybe winning the youth cup would contribute to the development of the players, and would enhance our ability to bring in top young players in the future. Of all the things to criticise the club for. is this really one of them?!
  24. If someone of that level was in the under 18s now id wager he might have made our first team squad. I assume you dont want us to win the youth cup either.
