Not dominating possession of the chargers. Sloppy!
If he wanted to be front footed he would’ve gone and got a new one before kickoff but no…

Love a James, Knight, Williams triumvirate.
Gotta be the first time the word “triumvirate” has been wacked out on otib

Indeed. And just like when we might lose, there are positives to take, and I’ll post about them, there is nothing wrong to critique a win and some “less than good” parts.
Correct. Funnily enough something LM talks about quite a lot, never getting to high up or too low, taking both the positives and things to work on no matter the result.
I just think I disagree about what makes a good defensive performance personally, but don’t have a problem critiquing a win.

The question I have tho is this, did Boro come out fired up? Or did us changing our shape and therefore our mentality cause them to come out fired up and on the front foot?
They came out fired up. No matter what a team 0-2 at home to a team they think they should beat will come out second half determined to change their fortunes.

Don’t really understand this tbh, playing well doesn’t just mean creating chances or being in control?
The personnel change was more of an issue for me rather than the tactical. Cornick had probably his best half of football for us today and only played 60 v Forest.
From my eyes, it was a commited defensive performance more than a structured one. Personally I don’t have a problem with that, we got the result either way and we’re unlucky not to keep the clean sheet too.
Manning recognised that the borough that came out second half weren’t going to play like they did in the first. So he preemptively made changes, is that not a good thing?
Was a good performance, not a pretty one. If that’s what it takes for us to win games I have no problem with it.

Brilliant away win on tired legs, don’t hate the change to a back 3, got the goals we needed and sat on them.
Makes the Southampton game arguably the most important game so far for Manning, don’t expect anything tbh but win that and suddenly our season becomes very interesting again!

Well it can’t be said we don’t keep games interesting

Brilliant tackle from Knight stops them from being through on goal again.

This Improvement from Joe Williams really should be studied, looks 10x the player he was at the start of the season.
Almost every part of his game has improved imo, shame injuries has plagued much of his first few years with us.

Tommy is just walking about, instead of closing down their CBs when they have the ball.
He’s the only one up there at the moment and borough have 3 men back there, he will always get passed around. All for pressing down a man when it makes sense, not wasting energy just for the sake of it.

At least a foot onside

Pring off with a knock, Middlesbrough score straight from the free kick but are flagged offside.
-
******* hell, some outrageously good football we are playing at times here. Drawing borough defenders out and playing round them extremely well

No, it's Cornick off ... odd he was playing well.
Would guess he’s got a knock, that was his best football all season in the first half.

Rapidly falling in love with Knighty, must be one of the highest distance coverers in the league. Got nice composure in front of goal as well. Tidy player.

QPR beating Norwich and Huddersfield beating Southampton away at the moment.

Mentality and leadership. Plus the fact he’s very good with the ball.
Have to laugh at the amount of bollocks spoken on here sometimes.
See you on Saturday chaps

Came into tonight thinking we were going to get battered 3/4-0 tbh, forest are much better at home. When they scored their first I thought that was going to happen.
Brilliant fight back and we seemed to have edged it overall, shouldn’t complain about losing a penalty shootout. Need these performances to transfer to the league now! Hope to see us in a back 4 on the weekend.

Last time we went into the second half of extra time 1-1 away Sam Bell scored the winner. Time to step up again Mr Bell

Not even a mention of the game on the Chelsea v Villa broadcast either suprisingly.

If they're scouting this forum we need to start treating some of players like they're worth 20 million
I’d only take a minimum of £25million for Cornick personally, too good to let go for any less

Halves like that are what makes me think we are right on the brink of becoming a very good side.
Positioning, passing and decison making letting us down in the final third.
But very positive overall, brilliant discipline and structure. Pressed well when needed and got bodies forward when on the break. Thought those two blocks by Vyner when Armstrong was slipped through were stellar as well. COYR
