The kids a natural goalscorer we’ve just stopped playing to his strengths’ he won’t be short of offers.

I’m not questioning his talent or the reason he’s not scoring, I’m simply saying as you’ve said, he’s not scoring or impressing, so he won’t be attracting the same teams that he would have done.
I’ve actually been a big fan of Tommy and at one point thought he would be picked up quicker than Scott!
I believe he’ll come good, but I don’t think there’s any guarantees, that the teams that he would have attracted when others were being looked at, would still be interested.
    We’ll see.

Tommy won't sign, he would have signed back when others extended. He's gone in the summer.

I think the difference is he was a definite contender for a good club to come in for him at that stage, which wouldn’t necessarily be the case now. So I don’t think it follows that his options are the same as they once were.

I thought the away defeat at Ipswich was also an excellent performance

Agree. It does appear that for most it’s actually the performance over the result that matters. It makes sense though, because performance is what will get us up the table and encourages fans to “believe”, not playing poorly and just praying we snatch a lucky win.

Next week will be interesting. Rotherham will defend deep, disrupt the game and launch balls forward early. I want to see us beat these next week and put this “issue” of struggling against poor sides to bed with 7 points in three home games against lower ranked sides (plus the three points at Plymouth).

You’re right will be a very good test.

I thought it was better than Leicester. I agree with @joe jordans teeth that yesterday was a more even and consistent performance across the 90 minutes. We matched Norwich nicely and I think there were fewer "oh shit" moments.

It was a nice performance yesterday, an away draw is always a good result. But I still think we'll need to be slightly better to properly challenge for a top 6 spot.

Agree and I said the same, it was the effort across the 90 minutes yesterday which impressed and surprised me, they really did play with a freedom we’ve not seen and didn’t look like a team who had nothing to play for.

Certainly you will get more chance to play against better teams but if the opposition is playing conservatively it seems to me you need to be more aggressive, pressing higher to force errors. Instead we tend to turn passive, passing the ball around at a slow tempo. Which suits them fine.

Yes that’s definitely been our weakness and definitely what we need to work on. If we can sort that out, then we should see real change.

I don't really understand how you can go in or out of 'sack Manning'. Either he is the man for us or he isn't,  no matter how you rationalise the point.

I think if you want change which many of us did of LM and we then see change, it’s not reasonable to not recognise it or at least acknowledge it.

You’d surely have to acknowledge that play has picked up recently? Or are you simply saying that having made up your mind about LM (presumably), there’s no changing it?

  8. I think, having waited for the play to revert to type and it not happening, I feel more assured about what LM could achieve, but it would most definitely only be the case, if we play as we’ve played in the last 3/4 games, or that LM will be able to get the current and any new players, playing his brand of football, whilst retaining some of the more front foot stuff, we’ve seen recently.
I know it has made a difference to me watching the last few games, to how I approach next season and I’ve just renewed with a more positive click of the renew tab.

There's nothing wrong with the defenders having possession at the right times. There were a couple of examples today when Norwich had got a bit of momentum, and we smartly slowed the game down and kept the ball a bit longer. Makes total sense. We were dictating the tempo, which I believe is what Manning is trying to instil.

Clearly that’s not what I’m talking about. Only an idiot would think you never need to keep possession at the back.
I think most people will understand just what I meant.

Not sure I agree really. We played ok, at times we were on top, but equally I don't think Norwich were on top of their game. I also didn't see us impose ourselves on the game consistently. I said earlier in the season that I think our performances are basically defined by the opposition, and I think that happened today.

I thought we were good but I didn't see much to increase my feelings of top 6 next season.

Yes we played with more energy, less passing around at the back and an overall good performance, with consistently positive play.
Even then though, there were still silly and avoidable mistakes at times, if we can work on those over the summer, we might actually be a hard team to beat.

Really enjoyable game to watch and loved their persistence.

  11. Yes, was really pleased to see City fighting till the end even if, as the commentator kept saying, we have nothing to play for. The difference has been that we’ve not been playing the tedious stuff we were witnessing.
I’ve believed we’ve got some great players I just hope we can get the most out of them.

Pay him as you would do one of your top tier earners.

27 years old (28 in Dec), get him signed up for 3 years (at worst 2+1).  Treat it like a free transfer, because that is what it is.  He’s a top half championship performer.  I don’t think you’ll bring in as guaranteed a performer for the overall cost.  At his peak years.

    Totally agree.

You’re the person who tried desperately to get a role in the club only to get knocked back - that’s when you started slagging off Tinnion and the club. Very transparent and now your main hobby is slagging off Ian Gay because he gets the info you licked desperately for only to get knocked back.

I don’t really like jumping on the band wagon but really couldn’t let this go by. I tried honestly 😊  I think you’ll find there’s plenty of people who also slag Ian Gay off so do they all have an agenda? I’m not sure Ian Gay has given any info that’s ever been tried and tested.
Telling everyone the new manager was going to be someone we’d be very excited about didn’t turn out so well 😂

I’m struggling to remember a negative reaction to a passage of play like that in all the years I’ve been watching.

I’m not so sure, can’t back this up in terms of which games specifically, I’m  afraid, but I think there have been a fair few matches where we’ve had negative reactions usually in the form of groans, which have usually come on the back of exactly this type of play, passing backwards and sideways rather than finding forward passages of play.

They wasted a LOT of time within injury time, so I think she'd have been well within her rights to play on to 100 minutes, to be honest.

Yes. We’ve seen refs apply these added time rules that were supposed to be coming in this season in the Prem, but few refs in the championship, until today. So fair enough. They risked playing the game a certain way and it came back to bite them I’m afraid.

Why would people feel the need to mention someone's race/sex/sexuality/whatever when doing it? It's literally irrelevant.

Although actually - it's not entirely, because I can guarantee you she had to work 10x harder than all the other refs we've had this season to get to where she is. Bringing the fact she's a woman into it is just reinforcing those barriers she's had to break.

Oh - and it's not alright to call male refs "all the names under the sun" when they make an honest mistake at work... which is what they're doing. But that's another discussion!

People can be angry without getting personal.

Couldn’t agree more. Just had a look at some of the comments and think it’s pretty disgusting.
Good to see that some fans are level headed enough to recognise she is not responsible for where they are and the position they find themselves in!

So let’s get this right it’s alright to call male refs all the names under the sun on here when they give calls against us,the minute a woman ref gives us a shocking decision she’s the best thing since sliced bread

It depends. Calling a male ref all the names under the sun doesn’t, if he’s deemed crap, usually include his being male. I suspect the insults are about her being female and crap or whatever.

  18. I think the main thing she had which many refs don’t was consistency. The way I saw it although some around me thought she was a bit picky, was that what she actually did, was apply the rules consistently. I thought it was pretty refreshing.
She certainly got the adding time on for injuries and time wasting even within injury time.

    Sorry what?
The ball was kicked into the Huddersfield’s centre half’s stomach, after which we had possession and she decided to stop the game and return the ball to them via an unopposed drop ball. The games gone!

Sorry. Was responding having heard someone else moaning she stopped the game when she got knocked, thought that was what you referred to. 😬
