Middlesborough at home match thread
HappyClapper replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
Except West Brom. 2-2 now…Chris Martin!!! -
I agree all played very well. I thought Tanner was excellent too.

A new alias? If you’ve changed it to get away from the negative comments you’ve attracted on this thread it’s obvious where your son gets his brains from.

Agree about Wigan and Blackpool. They needed points today. As much as I’d like Cardiff and Reading to go, QPR are in free fall. They’ve lost 9 of the last 10!

Stoke City away match thread

Available now -
I have a number of friends who support Wolves. They tend to be a bit smug and condescending when talking about city. I’ve had the misfortune of seeing us getting well beaten by them too many times. A small part of me doesn’t want to go through that again, but most of me would be absolutely delighted if they went down.

That’s more like it. ?

I was, but obviously with a lack of clarity.

As per title. Too much apathy for me. No two footed tackles or even a cross word or two. Come on OTIB. The match day thread is barely 10 pages. Cornick is being quietly defended and the state of the pitch being mused over. That’s not what I log on Saturday nights for.

Big opportunity for Zak to show how much he’s improved. A big challenge for him today. -

Although if Scott was in then one of the others (prob Leeson) would miss out keeping it at 9 -

9 academy players/graduates in the squad. I’m very encouraged by that. -
I’m all for it. In my view a free kick should infer an advantage. Too often an offence is committed that allows the defending team to reset, making it more difficult for the team that was fouled. I would like to see a rule change that encourages/ allows it in most circumstances.

I thought signing Wells, Henriksson and Benkovic in Jan ‘20 would definitely mean playoffs at least. Was genuinely excited.

Joe Bryan - Signed for Millwall
HappyClapper replied to The hand of RO'D's topic in All Things Ex Players and Managers
Joe is a very different kind of character to most footballers. His dad is a surgeon (operated on GJ) and had to be very much persuaded that Joe’s immediate future was in football. He has talked about potentially training as a doctor when his career is over. I can see him setting back in the area and starting his second career here. I think this may have some mileage. Would love to have him back. -
Anything on the bears site to confirm what happens in the woods?
-
It wasn’t actually really the train drivers on strike. The government and right wing press pushed that narrative because they were hoping there would be a lack of support from the public. The vast majority of those striking were support staff, for example cleaners, who are very poorly paid.

Unfortunately I am.

I don’t understand the issue here. Bentley went to wolves. We got in an experienced keeper as a back up as Max had forced his way into the team. Said keeper thought he could replace Max and earn a contract with us or put himself in the shop window. Max has played well and said keeper doesn’t feature. His plan hasn’t worked. He is given the option of first team football at his old club. We are in mid table obscurity so the need for an experienced number two is not as important as it seemed in January. We decide the move works for everyone under the current circumstances so both parties are happy to make it happen now. I really don’t think there’s any more to it.

I went the same way. Vyner, Pring etc have shown great improvement, but player of the season for me should be your best/ most influential player.
-
NP has also mentioned previously that Towler was behind Pring and Tanner as a centre half. This means we would need two more injuries before he would be in line to play. It’s a similar rhetoric, albeit Towler is a much better player, to the Louis Britton nonsense last season.

Luton Town away match thread

After the battering we got first half I thought we showed some character in the second. Difficult night but a few positives. Scott managed himself well again and has done well to avoid a ban. OTC was thrown into a difficult situation and did well. We kept going looked most likely to score at the end. Hopefully James is back for the weekend, and Naismith and Conway following the break. -

Fair enough. Certainly read like you were trying to start one. -

On a separate note. Did anyone else notice that Weimann’s shirt didn’t have a number on it or have I finally lost it. -

Me for one. The pile on is tiresome and borderline embarrassing.
