We dominated possession against Premier League opposition.

Whereas we've spent years barely able to string 3 passes together, relying on counter attacks and being half decent at "pressing"

Tonight we looked like we could play football, proper football.

The attacking improvements are needed and will come. Probably needs new players for that though - so the summer.

Possession for possessions sake in my eyes. We don't play dangerous balls with attacking flair. We just work the ball wide, play it to the free man then cross it.

Dont get me wrong, this is a level we rarely excel at (I appreciate tonight was an FA Cup game against a decent outfit), but I'm not excited by our play, we rarely threaten at the moment. We rarely do anything much, it's safe, passive yet solid football. Defensively we look decent.

Think if I listed things I was hoping for from Twine, I’d get to “quite good at macramé” before a young Jamie Paterson.

I'm not sure what that is so it's gone over my head!

Paterson was underrated here, a clever player, technically gifted, could use both feet, score goals, create goals. Often labelled with going missing but I just didnt see that at all.

Twine was ok today, but hopefully can prove to be as useful as Paterson was.

One other thing, LM said playing on the left doesn't get the best out of him, and ok, he wasn't hugging the touchline, but he was definitely left of centre.

  3. Good corners, got up very well for the headed goal but the game passed him by other than that.

Only 1 game of course, but seemed to lack pace and strength, but didnt replace that with quality on the ball or clever passes and vision.

I was hoping for a young version of Jamie Paterson, upon first viewing he's not as good or clever as Paterson in open play.

Hopefully he improves, but part of me isn't really fussed as we've only got him for 4 months!

Was subbed after 9 minutes of the second half for Sykes who stayed wide and then Bell who also stayed wide when Sykes went off might point towards Weimann being in his own little bubble. Agree he should be played centrally but think maybe he’s trying too hard with the captaincy or he’s just not playing the role he’s told to.🤷‍♂️

We switched back to lopsided on the other side when Sykes and Bell came on. Mehmeti came in field 10-15 yards, so Weimann was playing to instruction in the first half, tucking in and Mehmeti staying wide on the left.

That’s what Ipswich said about McKenna, and he has somehow got them into 2nd with a bunch of lower end champ high end l1 players.

Momentum caused by confidence in winning games in L1. This season or never for Ipswich ala us under GJ.

Was hoping for a new name from nowhere. But Manning fits the 'yes man' criteria and if we chuck money at him, you never know.

I would've been much more confident in giving Nige a decent budget instead.

  6. This is bad isn't it...I didn't think it would get this bad.

That interview is a slap in the face for loyal supporters of this club.

Other than continuing to stick their fingers in their ears, how can they move forward from this?

We are a pathetically run football club. Lisa Knights is head of BS comms, Dave Barton Bristol City. Their advice as media professionals should obviously be to get the club's stance on the sacking out ASAP.

Lead the narrative, and don't let rumour spread.

Instead, we have owners asleep at the wheel and comms people afraid of their own shadow, and who work about 1.5 days a week.

There is no way they will allow Tinnion on RB to be a lamb to the slaughter. Likewise Jon.

That just leaves Steve, who appears to have developed some sort of allergy that means he can't directly address City fans, or appear on any respectable news outlet.

So, let's see - who has the cojones and ability to get the job done against the silverback gorilla Jeremy Paxman interviewer that is Ed Hadwin tomorrow evening - my bet is no-one.

This is my main reason for wanting a change at the top.

I just dont think he wants it any more, we need someone with energy, fresh ideas, respect for the fanbase, no baggage. He's given it a go, when he's wanted to, but its becoming farcical.

  8. If only Nige was backed properly...worked miracles without backing, whilst bringing through young hungry lads.

Just as importantly, he worked with integrity and honesty. Gutted by this crazy decision but not surprised our owner has made yet another baffling decision.

  9. I think Nige has just taken him out of the firing line like he has before with Atkinson and Pring. Everyone thought Atkinson was off at one stage, don't forget, only to return a better player.

I'm sure Anis will gradually be re-exposed to first team action in time and return a better player. Nige is clever like that.

Yeboah clearly has talent and currently has the wind in his sails due to unexpected first team action, so I really dont think there is a big issue here.

  10. Interesting observations.

I feel Bell is way ahead of Mehmeti at the moment, he's a threat and a finisher, albeit his all round contribution needs improving. Mehmeti definitely has skill and work rate but has some work to do to get ahead of Bell at the moment, good competition for places. Personally if not Bell, I'd have Weimann left forward currently.

Wells looks sharp, I'm one of Conway's biggest fans, but I'd start Nakhi vs PNE.

  11. Has anyone yet mentioned the possible link between our new CEO and O'Neill's? Wasn't he consulting at Wycombe last season or the year before?

Both shirts (Home and 3rd) are awful for different reasons. Home for fitting and just looking cheap and naff. 3rd for the weird 'Robin', a shame as I dont mind the colour-scheme.

The blue training gear is annoying and odd.

Classic City mind just as most other things with the club are looking decent.

Cover/ Competition for LW or LB. Has also played a few games in CM so has the versatility Nige likes.

Versatility is true. But surely LW we have Bell, Mehmeti, Weimann who could comfortably play there. Bryan played more LB, LWB and LM for us rather than LW. I always preferred him LM in the 4411 we played.

I like the sound of this McCorie though as a DM alongside James.

  13. Always been impressed with Cornick, ever since he finished well against us when they played us off the park and beat us 3-0 at their place under LJ.

I've been hoping we'd be in for him ever since. Seems to do quite well against us, mind. So maybe my view is based on that.

Very different to Semenyo, but a stylish player, not sure I've ever seen him play left of a 3 though?

Personally, if I was CEO and had a magic wand, I'd make the entire Atyeo a standing home end and charge my architects with finding a solution for housing away fans. That would not be an easy task, but nothing is impossible.

That's the best idea I've seen on here. A whole stand for standing. Away fans could go E34 and E33 in that instance, similar to Norwich.

In terms of expanding the corner, S24 wouldn't encroach sight lines either, I'm on the edge of S25 and still outside of the corner flag/touchline.

No, but before the south stand was completed wasn't it forza East end? Long time back mind.

And booed a 20 year old on home debut...

Yeah, I got a Forza Eastend scarf from years ago, but I don't think it's the same people. Then again I'm not involved any more.

    The hashtag is #Pearsonout. Remarkable.

Regarding the booing of Joe Low, I'll be honest, because it was a cup game there were loads of people I've never seen before in the corner, not regulars, not saying it was all newbies.
