No, but before the south stand was completed wasn't it forza East end? Long time back mind.

And booed a 20 year old on home debut...

Yeah, I got a Forza Eastend scarf from years ago, but I don't think it's the same people. Then again I'm not involved any more.

    The hashtag is #Pearsonout. Remarkable.

Regarding the booing of Joe Low, I'll be honest, because it was a cup game there were loads of people I've never seen before in the corner, not regulars, not saying it was all newbies.

You’ve put a lot of effort into this, and I have replied to bits above in the best way I can. ⬆️⬆️⬆️

Spot on. Almost every point as I see it too.

I was really disappointed with some of our fans on Boxing Day. I'm in the 'Singing Section' corner...whatever you want to call it. Very little atmosphere throughout the game, until their voices were found near the end to chant about Pearson Out etc.

As a big Pearson fan, I was really disappointed to see the line up for the WBA game, especially following the Stoke performance and result. But it's all about context, if Pearson had the resources LJ was handed and still getting these results, I'd probably join in, but that isn't the case!

I do feel the supporters have a part to play in improving things for themselves. No, a good atmosphere doesn't guarantee points, but this isn't the first manager in recent times to suggest it might be easier for the players to play away from home.

Like us all, I am pretty fed up and disappointed, but I will always try and find some positives, life is too short not to.

My point right now would be that a lot of preparation has gone into a very important January transfer window and it is now just days away. Changing NP (who has been integral to that planning) in advance of the period makes little sense, and in reality, if we were to, I expect we would end up someone with little direct management / Championship experience - a temporary appointment would surely heighten the risk of going down?

My wider concern is that a lot of decent teams build around a strong spine - commanding keeper, strong and big centre half’s, central midfield dynamo / captain, and a tough, big centre forward. Let’s hope we can tick one or two those boxes as I am not sure we fill any right now?

My belief is we have enough quality to stay up, and let’s hope January brings some commanding, leader types who will add to some of the exciting talent we already have.

Tough times, but let’s stay with it..

Agree, that's how I feel. We're closing in on Nige no longer having to work with both hands tied behind his back.

I've always been a Pearson fan. Boxing Day and Stoke is hard even for me to defend. Especially an unchanged 11 after a dismal performance and result against Stoke. But I feel we are close to him really showing his worth with transfer dealings.

I think we will loan one or two in Jan to keep us above a horrible relegation battle. Then the summer will be a real opportunity for a fresh start.

If we can stay up, and strengthen in the summer, then it's fair to judge Pearson.

  4. It was a dour atmosphere yesterday other than first 10 of each half. Swansea weren't great either, about 200 singing for first 20 and when they equalised.

I noticed our fans were very quiet at Reading last week, and more and more so recently. Blackpool away last season was the same, turned up in numbers, most stood, most silent.

People outside of the South Stand/Dolman corner may be surprised to hear there are variable dynamics within a relatively small space, its not one unit. Youngsters seem obsessed with singing about Joey Barton, olders don't seem to like anything with more than 4 words in it, others just want to be Crystal Palace and everyone inbetween seems to be waiting for it to happen (including myself to be fair). It lacks any togetherness or anything decent and new.

It'll come back around again, it always does, just needs a bit of sustained, relative success. E.g. A playoff push or cup run.

Compared to 3,000 away fans all in the same area how many singers in the South stand corner, 500?

Just short of 1200 in the corner. The point still stands though, it's a shame AG can't be rejigged to get home support behind both goals

  6. It's a strange one. I get my season ticket in the corner as I don't enjoy the matchday experience of sitting at games, standing is just a preference for me. I've also always loved being amongst the atmosphere.

This season I feel if there was another place I could stand and chant etc then I would move there as things seem to have changed a bit in the corner with odd chants and throwing trainers...maybe I'm maturing!? Probably just boring.

I like the idea of furthest lower block of the Dolman next to the Atyeo being a seperate area for standing etc, I doubt the club would allow it but you never know. I noticed at Shrewsbury away in the FA Cup replay a couple of years ago. They had safe standing behind their goal, akin to our corner, but they also had about 300/400 stood to our side who in fairness made a really decent noise.

Slightly off topic, but because of the Omricon variant, I went in the top of the Lansdown Stand, right at the far end, next to the Atyeo for the Huddersfield home game. We've been told for years how nobody can hear the corner, well it was 3/4 full that day (because of the new variant) and I could hear them loud and clear throughout the game, we were surprised at how clearly we could hear them after being told for years the sound doesn't travel...maybe helped by only 250 or 300 Huddersfield fans being next to us, but at least it dispelled that myth.

I reckon you must be a bit crackers to want to replace Bentley with MOL or an unknown player. The amount of points he has saved us with important saves. We are developing a strong team spine, and for me he is very important.

He's an interesting one, Bentley. I've never felt like he's an outstanding keeper. But after his return to the team, I realised just how good he is for us.

I think we are about his level, he is about our level and it's a good fit. Of course he has some weaknesses but I think he's a good #1. But the successful teams always look to improve on what they have, even if what they have is already good.

I know nothing about this chap we're linked with though.

We could have played with Semenyo, Scott, Beanrous, Idehen (if both fit) , Massengo, and Tanner . We will have to expect that not every player coming through will make it, but of the team last night, I would expect Bell, Conway , Towler  Zac Bell , and Edwards to have league careers. I have not seen enough of the others to judge yet. But I also anticipate that in future years, half of our squad will have come through the academy, or signed at under 21 (not maybe starting 11 , you get the idea) . It is such a massive change , and the fact we know the names of so many youth players , represents how much progress Tins and Nige have made, by being integrated. You can see already a shift in the physical attributes of players we are bringing into the youth groups. IMHO this is a massive step forward for the future of our club, and we will become a hot bed for young talent if they know they have a pathway. It is a strategy, a different one, and one that you can get behind.

Yeah that's a good point. I really enjoy seeing young lads come through and in to the first team too.

I think I was expecting more from the lads I'd not seen live before (no first team appearances). But it seems some are 16, 17 or 18 which means they have time to develop.

On a more positive note, one thing that stood out to me was their understanding of their role in the team, they all held their positions well and worked as a team rather than a group of individuals. Fingers crossed a few more emerge in and around the first team next season. COYR

  9. My first live watch of the U23s, I enjoyed the evening. Albeit I feel a little underwhelmed about some of the quality.

Conway stood out like a sore thumb, he was excellent. Towler was more physical than others. Not much else to write home about. Our right back showed some moments of promise offensively.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but a little bit more, I guess. Oh the number 3 was impressive, worked hard and was consistent in what I assume wasn't his natural position at CB, once moved?

  10. I have noticed this type of attitude more and more, particularly this season.

I stand in the corner, on the edge of it, I wish there was another area of the ground I could stand, sing and watch the game as its getting weird in there. But I don't like sitting at football and the rest of Ashton Gate is very 'passive'.

  11. Really enjoyed watching him play for us. Loved it when he applauded City fans at Villa Park a few seasons back too, he was given a great reception throughout the game.

Unfortunately some youngsters, not far from me in the South Stand/Dolman corner, were booing him the other week. Only 50 or so, but enough that he would've heard it. It really disappointed me. A sign of the times maybe, it seems the youngsters find it cool to boo any player who has the audacity to leave City.

    Interesting.

Lions flag day and the Wessun all dayer get together shows there still something.

    Days of celebrating fan culture.

That there culture isn’t wanted by Bristol Sport though.

    They have homogenised match day.

Debollocked it by creating their singing section.

This Section 82 have helped the homogenisation and debollocking of Ashton Gate along.

Outside of the authorised singing section the homogenisation and debollocking of Ashton Gate was accelerated because there is an authorised singing section.

In the Dolman whats was the A is now a weedy E you can’t stand to sing or even put a flag up cos that’s for the authorised singing section.

    Hope?

There is still chaps out there with pull.

They can get hundreds of the right noisy sorts together.

But for Bristol Sport to want help they have to go well what we have done here is a bit S in the BS .. That is unlikely to happen.

This authorised singing section is a problem.

As chaps say a singing section says it all.

Agree with a fair amount of this. Although the corner was named a 'Singing Section' by the club retrospectively. It was not something people requested as far as I am aware, I certainly didn't move to a designated 'Singing Section'.

What would BS need to do in your opinion?

I'm not part of the S82 group, but I see it as they are trying to make the best of a bad situation. If there is something others can offer to improve it, surely it's worth doing it?

  13. Stop the crappy chants about a local rivals' manager, just when an atmosphere is trying to build would help.

AG layout post rebuild, is not great for atmosphere and the club do NOT want it hostile, they want it 'nice'. I do think a block or two in the bottom tier of the Dolman nearest the away fans would be a good idea to spread the atmosphere a bit.

I'm in the corner but not in the group in the centre. They give it a good go most games and I have some personal friends amongst them. Saturday was below par and was a poor atmosphere.

However, for those who need a bit of encouragement to get behind the team, let's not forget we have had a poor home record for 3 or 4 seasons now.

Thank you mate, ******* top class that. If anyone on here's got it knocking about in their shed, lets have it back for Saturday.

Unfortunately this one ripped to shreds a couple of seasons ago. I'm no longer involved but I don't think it was repairable.
