Are boro not on a rather good run at the moment? Won 5 of their last 6 or something? And we are hardly good at home so easily a game we could take nothing from.

However I don't think 5/6 points is an unreasonable expectation. I will be happy with a few decent performances for the minute.

Last two they lost to Stoke and drew with Argyle but prior to that they were on a 6 game win streak. Before the Stoke game their last defeat was in mid-September against Blackburn. Would be happy picking up any points on that one.

Think QPR and Huddersfield are the must wins here for sure and I'd argue in their current form Norwich should be as well, no wins in the last 6 and 5 losses (and we'll see if Wagner makes it until then).

Dunno about that, but anyone notice JL’s answer to involvement on this appointment and perhaps trying to distance himself from Holden’s?  He basically said this is the most he’s been involved.

And that in itself I also found out a little eyebrow raising, I always felt (and possibly I'm misreading the situation, I don't have a ton to base this on) one of the reasons SL was/is looking to sell was that Junior wasn't too keen in taking over the club long term and is more interested in other projects. Feel like I remember seeing some discourse about this at the time Fever Pitch was becoming a thing.

Surprised, had hoped he would be kept on as always came across very well.

He and Nige were very much joined at the hip, and after Curtis batted for him (and Rennie especially) last week I figured there was very little chance of him staying on.

A shame because he always came across very well, a top bloke who was respected by everyone. Wishing Curtis all the best wherever his next destination is.

  4. Would've been helpful if the person who said it at the time linked the tweet with it, only thing I can find from Tinnion on twitter from October 29th onwards is him replying to someone about Sound of the City (though Fevs raises a good point about twitter not being great about this stuff in the Musk era).

As for Manning, like another poster said, excited is a strong word but certainly intrigued at least to see what he can do here.

Right? This is the sort of thread we'd be mocking the blue few about (and they've probably suggested someone equally outrageous if I had to guess!).

With coaching experience in Northern Europe?????

(I know Tins had his “school” in Spain)

To be fair, there was one out there who was seemingly available but he just took the QPR job a week ago.

Stepping stone to the premier league?

Doing well in a top 5 league is his stepping stone, he's had a meteoric rise and so far with no prospects of slowing down (as another posted pointed out, he could literally be in a Champions League spot in a few hours if Reims beat Nantes). At this point I don't think he needs the Championship to get to the Premier League and at worst I could see him taking over one of the relegated teams next summer where he'll be backed strongly.

We're just not that club for that sort of ambition, as much as Junior might think otherwise with the top 6 talk.

  8. People need to not focus as much on the betting odds, at the end of the day they matter very little. Like try to think about it for just a bit, why on earth would Still leave Reims, where he currently them in the european spots and was backed massively this summer with multiple 10 million pound signings, to come to a mid table Championship club that has been cutting costs for a few years?

    Let's be serious now.

    André Villas-Boas 👀

Coaching days are over it seems, not sure if it's official yet but it's basically an open secret over here that he's running for president at FC Porto.

  10. Another touch of class from Nige, though I don't think that comes as a surprise to anyone here at this point, that's just who he is. Makes it all the more upsetting that he won't get to see through all the work he's done here.

    Thank you for everything.

You may very well be right. The only thing I'd say is that he could feel that right now is when his stock at Plymouth is at its highest and that - if they go down or continue struggle in the Championship - his name will slip out the reckoning for those better opportunites  as other managers succeed elsewhere. But I think there's a good chance he could decide we're not the right move.

Yeah, feel like ultimately it's the wrong timing for it happen.

I'm still surprised Luke Williams is apparently not under consideration. My guess would be one of Liam Manning, John Mousinho or Steven Schumacher.

Maybe a year ago when he was still in League One I could see it, I just don't see it happening now with Schumacher, have to imagine he'd aim higher than us if he was to leave Argyle right now.

Liam Manning is doing a good job at Oxford, things are going well for him at the moment. Why on earth though would he walk away from at least a couple of years job security and the very real prospect of championship football next season to join our lot? Surely he, or any other manager that currently have a job would have to be mad to throw it all away and join the Lansdowns.. People within the football community would be fully aware of what’s going on at Ashton Gate.

I agree with your sentiment in general but just to play devil's advocate. I'm sure Manning thought like that in some way as he finished 3rd in League One while being linked with Championship clubs only to be out of the job by Christmas that year, football more and more works on a "what have you done for me lately" basis. What you say makes sense but at the same time but I wonder if someone who's gone through that would be more receptive to taking the chance to go up the ladder while it's there.

No, it’s fine.  Sometimes I try to word something, but I get it a bit wrong - as @red panda will testify.  I don’t mind taking a bit of stick / criticism as a result.  I post a lot, bound to antagonise with the odd post.

I get that, am guilty of that myself sometimes. Just wanted to point out that wasn't the case here, I genuinely found your post amusing and didn't take it as anything else. Love reading your stuff mate. 👍

Was he the bloke in charge at MK Dons when they were absolutely flying in League One and winning all sorts of plaudits for the football they played?

    If so… could be interested.

He was, honestly doesn't look like they've truly recovered from selling Scott Twine and Harry Darling since then.

Yeah, yeah…at least I can accept when I’ve got it wrong in something I posted.

Sorry, that might have come not the way I intended. Your comment put it very well how I feel about perusing the forum these days, feels like I'm seeing the same back and forth all the time. 😅 Didn't mean to have a go at anyone here.

Not yet. But didn’t he and Tinnion have a bit of a falling out over the transfer of Mini Mac to Hibs?

I remember the snarky comment on twitter, was there anything else beyond that? Wouldn't think that would warrant an actual falling out but no clue if anything happened behind doors.

Another thread containing posts saying either something along the lines:

    - be careful what you wish for and / or (re SL)

    - someone might’ve done better (re Nige)

to frame their agenda with no consideration that:

    - it’s possible to have a better owner too

    - it’s possible to have done worse too

    It’s a very blinkered view.
